- KFlash NZ have tuned over 200 Accords with K20's and K24's, but until now I had no idea they could also tune the modern 1.5 L series engines that replaced the K24. So today I was given the opportunity to see what a tuned L15B Turbo CR-V is like.

I owned a 5th gen CRV and had a Ktuner V2 installed and tuned to the stage 2 map and the throttle response changed as well. It ripped in my opinion for the size. However, being a front wheel drive and being nose heavy a bit off the ground (also mine was the Limited 7 seater version), I didn't give you a lot of confidence to push through corners. And yes, I agree it wasn't designed to be pushed through corners.
One big letdown was the CVT transmission. After doing a trip from Wellington to Taupo and taking it through the twisty roads after coming down the hill in Palmerston North, you could hear the CVT whine after a long drive and the turbos being heatsoaked. It didn't like to be pushed too hard.
For someone that has never owned a turbo car and needed something practical and family friendly, the KTuner was a good investment. It just needed a bit more up-and-go and the KTuner filled that void.
It was fun though launching it every time the traffic light turned green.
Overall, loved every bit of the KTuner Flash and should've came from the factory like this.
Removed the tune and sold it, and now I'm struggling to find something that is as reliable and fun..
Yeah I was impressed with the improvement the kflash tune made
Now it just needs a manual swap, but joking aside I hope the CVT can take that extra bit of power.
Yeah I’d be worried about that, my CRZs CVT is apparently at its limit from factory, could be dodgy but hope it serves the owner well for many years
Actually you can get these with a manual and AWD in Europe at least. They have about 20hp less from factory but it’s all software because it’s the same engine

I like this generation of the CR-V quite well. My sister recently picked up a Hybrid one.
I drove it and with my driving style coming from saloons and sedans, it does not like the backroads one bit. But with that being said the build quality is really good and it is very comfortable on the motorway for journeys. The CVT does gets a bit old hearing it upon joining the motorway countless times.

No.1 Kiwi in Aotearoa. You deserve it lad. Just be careful of tuning. It is I double edged sword. Higher pressure = greater internal wear. The oil lubrication system needs more effectiveness. I've my rair share of mommy carriers go tips up (sorry just had to). No nasty offence intended.

The tune shaves about a second off so maybe around 8s
