  • Running a couple buckets through the sluice at the new spot on the East Fork of the Lewis river.
This is a spot I chose to keep digging based on a previous trip. What caught my eye about it is a huge flat rock that creates a natural riffle that led me to find some of the biggest flakes yet out of this river. However the buckets I ran through in this video seemed to be much less concentrated, leading me to believe that I dug through the pay layer.
The picture at the end is from the previous trip with 3 buckets worth of material processed, this trip yielded about a third of the amount with only 2 buckets worth of material processed
Thanks for watching, like and subscribe to see more in the future!

I mine this river weekly and live on it... a tip for here, check out the river during high flood you want to mine this river higher up for pickers and richer buckets.. especially high up on inside bends..

I went out there last weekend to scope it out. I didn't pan and I haven't panned for gold in my life. I did find some boulders and saw sand behind them, not dirt. The sand, I am assuming, was built up from higher water levels. I was hoping on going out there this weekend, but not sure if the weather will allow it.

Well you should definitely get a pan if you can and get out if you can! If you do get a pan, don’t forget you need to “season” otherwise the water will bead off the surface of the pan and take all your fine gold. Rub it with sand or fine steel wool to rough up the surface. I haven’t been out recently due to not only the weather but also a busy work schedule, but I’ll hopefully get some time soon. Good luck!

@@NorthwestGoldProspectorI do have a pan and it is seasoned. I used light sandpaper as I had some in the house.
I've had a few years of almost non-stop medical issues, last year being cancer. But my wife and I went out last weekend. We did some classification of some dirt, ran it through a mini sluice we had in the river. My body was screaming at me, I fell a couple of times as my balance was way off. I also rushed it.
Where I pulled the dirt from there was quite a bit of black sand. I need to run it through the sluice I have here at the house where I am not worried about falling over and hitting my head on a granite rock.
I was so tired even the next day my eyes said, nope not even going to try looking for small shit in that.
Even if we didn't get anything, it was so peaceful out there. I just need to get 3 legged stools to sit on and some hiking sticks to help get up and down to the river level so I don't slip and tumble the 10-15 feet.
I may be older, but I can still learn.

That's pretty cool. I've been to a club claim up there twice, no gold yet.

I have a spot on a tributary that has a large fault that intercects a contact. I'm willing to team up with quiet hard workers ( no internet breadcrumbs).
