  • Code 1636 is super common. You might have other codes, but if you have 1636 then it is most likely the source of the problem for all those codes. Your truck can't run a regen when 1636 is active.
    This is your intake manifold temperature sensor. Either the sensor has failed, the pigtail has failed, or there is corrosion in your connection. In this video we will show you how you can possibly fix things on the road to get by. Or if you can get to a Freightliner this repair is so easy we show you how to fix it permanently.

    Are the wires really directional? If the new sensor doesn’t have any kind of color differentiation, shouldn’t matter which wire goes where. It’s just measuring a change in resistance if I’m not mistaken

    I see code spn3563 showed up also on the fault list in the video, does this sensor fix that same problem or is that a different problem?? I have this code spn3563 and my engine is driving horrible!

    My truck tries to Regen but RPMs keep going up and down and it never gets where it need to go. It had the actuator code before, we replaced it and now it has the 1636 code and wont regen. Trying to figure out if this sensor is the problem

    • @DDTruckDriver

      Well if you have code 1636 then...yeah this sensor or the wiring to the sensor is the problem. That is what the code is pointing you to.

    Quick question in the video you said you grease the actual sensor itself, what type of grease did you use

    • @DDTruckDriver
      @DDTruckDriver  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So in the video we said di-electric grease. That is electrical grease that helps protect electrical connections. It helps them better conduct electricity and blocks out moisture from corroding the connection.

      @Double D Distribution hello I wad wondering if you were stranded on the side of road and didn't have access to the new sensor would it be possible to just clean all the soot off the old sensor would that possible work

    • @DDTruckDriver
      @DDTruckDriver  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@515051506969 Always worth a try. Although I don't know if this one gets soot build up but yes on sensors that do that it is worth a try but typically the only way to get soot off of sensors is to soak them in gas or injector cleaner.

    Will a bad oil pressure sensor do the same thing

    • @DDTruckDriver
      @DDTruckDriver  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not sure, however I could see the truck shutting you down if the sensor was bad and registering 0 psi on your oil pressure, it would think that the truck was totally out of oil and could be programmed to shut down. But unplugging it could fix that

    Dielectric grease is an insulating grease not to be used on terminal ends . Use on the ‘ O ‘ rings on the terminal block insert is ok .

    Would this cause intake manifold pressure too high?

    • @DDTruckDriver

      This is a temp sensor so I don't think so but perhaps it also does pressure. I don't know the sensors well enough to say for sure.
