AE impact modifier is honestly one of the most important things if you want to expand, that -20% in Esp Ideas is the main reason Ive been picking it over diplomatic ideas for a year now
@MundaneThingsBackwards It still matters if you want to expand even faster. Those wars and truces all consume resources. If you didn’t have to fight those wars and could just take more land it would be easier. To me the purpose of AE reduction is you can take out all the Christian’s and the ottomans still don’t coalition you.
@@stephenbernard3003 imo ae reduction doesnt mean much cause when one area gets too high AE for expansion, just go somewhere else. like example if ur playing as naples and have high AE in italy, go expand in tunis
Zlewikk is honestly the best ytber to learn eu4 from. He does more than just run through how a specific nation should be set up in the first few years but talks about his reasons for picking modifiers and making decisions that are applicable no matter what nation someone is playing. Also the Marvel memes.
I like playing as the papal states but it definitely needs better missions considering just how important the papacy is. The potential for special and interesting gameplay is pretty insane and it's sad that that potential isn't being properly used. I'd love missions or special mechanics where I have to not only help spread Christianity without conquest but also the ability to mediate between Christian great powers.
That would be really cool. Something like the hre where you could pass reforms based on the number of Catholic nations. Perhaps this would only be available based on certaim choices and in a later age. Also something where if you stay small you get a big bonus relations to other Catholic nations.
I dont know if you noticed, but you can dec on Venice dec.11.1444. with a reconquest to take Ravenna and humiliate for early high PP. You can call Austria with promise of land if they rivaled with Venice, and give them Istria for bonus relations, favors and PP. Also there is a possibility to subjugate Naples for almost free if they deny at the event when the aragon succession happens. (Or they pay you)
Zlewikk one little tip you can use the appoint cardinal feature with Austria to get improved relations and join HRE faster. Same with potential allies. Also do it to the people you plan to invade so you get free cardinals once you annex them.
I love that type of videos it will be cool to see more videos like that. P.S:I don't seen before on a video Otomans make Venice subject that is so weird.
AE and Improve relation over times are the kind of modifiers that is nice alone but becomes really insane if you manage to stack a lot of it. Ae is harder to get but if you manage to reach the 50\60% point the games changes completely and coalitions stop existing (unless you do some insane blobbing). Improve relations is easier to get, Humanist+diplo (with their policy) gives exactly +100% IRO, which combined with advisor, high prestige etc... should allow you to get -5 AE every year. The key is choosing which one to focus and go all in on it.
I find playing as the pope super frustrating. AI nearly always buys indulgences, and you don't get to use any of the catholic buffs. It's dumb that the pope is the weakest catholic. You have to conquer nearly all of Italy just to get the 10% morale from Kingdom of God when every other catholic gets it with 50 papal influence and a button click.
Zlewikk, I just made the "Legacy of Saint George" achievement, and I saw on steam that LESS than 0,01% of the the players have it. Did you achieve it? I found it not so difficult (except for the start) but very tedious. Did I play in a sub-optimally or the achievement requires that much time to make?
Probably most people don't play in Ironman, so they don't unlock achievements. I bet more people are save scummers then care to admit. But, as long as you're having fun, I guess it doesn't matter.

In the HRE it's a no brainer. And the siege ability helps with all those capital forts.
Also, the policy of espionage and admin ideas for expansion is great too to stack advisor cost reduction and pay less corruption when overextended :)

1. Yes, but Venice is pretty strong day one so you bet too much on ai Austria, wortless risk

Yeah, that was really frustrating for me too. The literal head of religion is locked out of all the buffs said religion provides.
Can't believe you didn't play with Papal Sea mod.
Dont know about this one. Is it an good?
It's the best latest mod out there.
What's the name? Cant find anything when I look for 'papal mod'

I don't see anything here - eu4.paradoxwikis.com/Papal_missions. Anyway perma claims are better imo, Naples is too big for a good subject
@@ZlewikkTVit’s under aragonese events. Upon breaking the union, Naples has to either pay the pope or Pope gets a subjugation.

You unfortunately can't form Roman Empire from here, since it excludes the Papal State (Kingdom of God is just a cosmetic tag)
yep, what I meant is rather conquering the required provinces :)

I like to focus on advisor cost discounts as the Papal States; the ruler rolls are too unreliable.

How crazy is it that France can get Iberian holy orders w/o culture swapping via its mission tree, but Papal States can’t XD
How crazy is it that every catholic country can get bonuses from papal influence, but the Papal States can't
