    Etsy seems like the real winner. I can't believe how much you spent on ads.

      All of those negative months if you go back and look at the video you’ll notice that I wasn’t spending ad money or barely any. It’s weird how they only will really push it if you have ads I’m trying to find the best middleground

      @@richarddwyermusic seriously thank you so much. I want to be different. I want to show everybody real transparency and I know that it can be scary for some people because they make a living off of helping people and maybe they might have to be slightly dishonest to do that but I don’t want to be that way.

    Nice! You covered all your startup costs and still ended up in front in basically your first year.
    I hope I can do the same down here in Australia. I'll be starting with 4 basic printers and an A1combo.
    Etsy and eBay will be my focus to start with. Wish me luck. Cheers!

    thanks for the video, its nice seeing the breakout of what you had/made/spent and plans... we opened an etsy store on mid nov and have a handful of things up, but so far outside of family no ones purchased anything, debating if i need ads or is it pictures or just need to keep adding new sales... but its a learning thing so you vid is helpful for me to absorb and learn, so thank you

    • @Basically_Benski
      @Basically_Benski  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Absolutely! I do think ET ads is the answer. It’s a little scary at first, but I think you need to really balance Etsy ads with the number of products you have I would personally say if you have less than 20 products don’t use ads right now, but once you get above that 20 project threshold start adding SC ads and the more projects the more money you put towards ads, I think would be a good Strategy

    I noticed you add more to the product than just printing and I think that is what will help you not look like being everyone else. Is all your labor figured into that profit?
    PS Those Etsy fees are crazy.

    • @Basically_Benski
      @Basically_Benski  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yes, I only have a few things that aren’t 3-D printing related like the wallets and cutting boards but everything else is 3-D printed related. The big thing is that I do calculate how much each print cost me to make and that is factored into the final cost essentially what I try to do is make three times The cost of the print and what I’m selling it for, but I’ll have a video breaking down how I price all of my prints soon

    You mentioned how much you made profit after advertising, fees, shipping, etc but did you also subtract filament cost, machine depreciation, energy consumption, labor, etc? Sorry if i missed it.

    • @Basically_Benski
      @Basically_Benski  วันที่ผ่านมา

      I did take that into account but YOU DID NOT MISS IT its just already in the cost per item but I want to do a video about that here soon!

  • @stankopintar5991
    @stankopintar5991 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Great vid 👍 can you explain the shipping costs and how does it work. Do you send the items to etsy and they have an inventory and ship it or do you ship them by yourself? How are the shipping fees on etsy calculated? Thank you.

    • @Basically_Benski
      @Basically_Benski  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I can make a video about how I think that’s a good idea! But the short answer right now is I take care of shipping in my house? I shipped a few things keeping track of what the difference shipping costs were through Etsy from different states and different bag sizes and took an average and made that my shipping cost.

    Great to see all this. And get realistic ideas for profitability.
    Kind of wild to me to see you bought a 5k macbook instead of something that makes any sort of sense, though. That would have bought a top of the line production PC, a CAR, shit you could have gotten any number of top tier gaming laptops and had 2.5-3k in cash afterwards to buy other things for the business.

    • @Basically_Benski
      @Basically_Benski  วันที่ผ่านมา

      I went with the Mac for a few reasons, I have quite a few close friends who are into building PCs work in cyber security and other IT departments. Going through all my needs of security, cad work, video editing, slicing softwear. The new M3 was just the only answer I had a buddy try and build a computer for me and it was coming out to almost the same price and a new M3. While i know there are other options out there this really was the best and yes i do already have a big Apple ecosystem so that was a plus but trust me i wanted a built PC to be the answer it just wasnt for what i wanted at least from a cost standpoint.

    but how can i earn as a designer? who designs 3d models for 3d printing
    what's the best marketplaces for me to go?

    • @Basically_Benski
      @Basically_Benski  4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      LOVE THIS. Ill make a longer video about this but the short answer is you need to look at patreon and setting up one that's where most 3ders go to get files and we pay a monthly fee to use them commercially

    • @user-qi9px6yp8b
      @user-qi9px6yp8b 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @Basically_Benski that's a great answer, and by saying that you mean any page that you can receive money from it and deliver the stl files to the buyer or your audience, better than a market place
      And i agree with that but we still need some advices and experiences and ideas from you
      We need you to talk free about it as usual not scripted text, the best thing about you is that you speak directly and from your heart and with a passion
      To be specific you're human not a robot
      I'm waiting for the video and other content from you
