    The final product looks really good. I have two thoughts: First, seal your modg-podg with some sort of clear sealer. It remains deceptively tacky, especially if you store the pieces stacked or with something on top of it. Second, for the whitewater areas, I think you would normally see more white in the shallows where the water is tumbling over or around rocks and debris, not in the deeper parts where it tends to run faster because of lack of obstructions. If there is white in the middle (deeper), there is usually a LOT of white along the edges, because all the churn in the river edges bleeds over into the faster running middle. But it still looks great!

      That's some awesome advice and feedback!!! I will seal them with some gloss/matt varnish and thanks for telling me about the "white" rapids! :D

      Good point, adding some shallow areas in the river would have allowed adding the small stones there, then dressing up white water around that area. Many streams have shallow spots that would allow foot crossing. Good build tho.

    I looked for modular river tiles and yours were the best for what I was looking for, wonderful Man.
    Of course, I built on what I had. My base was cut from vinyl floor tile (it already has a tiny wave texture). Cheap tiles here in the states work out to be 45 - 55 cent a tile. I used matte ModPodge and sanded grout as my borders, it stays very flexible and flat as your masterpieces. I have since built modular road tracks in the same style. Months ago I used the same base for 12x12 inch sea/ shore tiles. I love getting inspiration from our community. Cheers.

    I know I'm late commenting on this, but this is hands down the absolute best tabletop river terrain tutorial on youtube. It looks so awesome and with no worry of warping despite a teeny tiny profile, which makes it all the better as a modular river. Well done. I’ll try this myself. My previous attempt going back to the mid 1970’s I used a 9” across flats hexagon with a Heritage hump back bridge 15mm scale the river being about 1.25” wide using a ready mixed stone filler (so the river was sunk below the surrounding area.the problem was the hex had to be spot on and the planning no wasn’t good enough.
    A 6’ x 4’ table should have 8 hexes on the 6’ length but the 4’ width was another matter my original scenario came out of Peter Youngs book Charge! And it didn’t look right, the bridge could be 9” off centre but I was fixed on a complete table whereas your method buts scenic where they need to be. We live and learn. Some take longer than others. Still 45 years late is better than not at all ☹️

What you should have done after the the black primer is go over anything that you wanted a lighter color with white paint/primer! But you would just do a heavy or light dry brush (depending on how light or dark you want that area)! And then when you paint the color you want there you will already have a lot of good blending with 1 coat (as long as you did a dry brush with the white)!!!

    QUESTION: There is a question at the end! But I wanted to say a bit about it first off!
    Good video. I actually printed a river stream that I could lay down in place a crossed my 6x3 map for a game! It’s not really thick at all and it’s very light…… which is partly the problem!?! Like, yeah it’s great that it’s light when it’s added to everything else that will go on the map. But it is annoying how you have to constantly fix it because a light tap will send it flying!!! I haven’t finished painting any of the pieces yet, so that might add a bit of weight. And I guess I could glue 2 together and do all of them like that (I don’t remember how many pieces in total I have. I think 10! So instead of 10 short pieces! I’ll have 5 longer pieces)! But then I would definitely be limited on how I could set it up!?! Do you have any ideas I could do to add some weight?

    • @DevsDice
      @DevsDice  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you Matt! Well generally if you want to darken something down "evenly", I would use the glazing technique i.e. thinned out paint that you just glaze over the areas you want to darken. Is it the Nolzur one? If so which part is too bright? :)

    • @EpicParsnips
