The drama mounts as these seasoned sailors survive a massive Hurricane and fight off swarming termites which appear after torrential rains. Truly amazing cinematography, great editing and another very entertaining episode. These Hasher's are certainly "Bloody Doing It"!
Lost my last sailboat to termites. Your words were more understatement than exaggeration. Borax solution is a good deterrent. Recommended to coat lumber during constructions.
Just popping on here to upvote, not watching this just yet, I'm on No.34, quickly binge watching all your sailing videos, in order! Loving every one, an absolutely brilliant TH-cam channel and an amazing adventure.⚓⛵🙏
@@TeuluTribe Feeding the algorithm is the least I can do, this has been such a compelling journey! I have no doubt I will enjoy them all. Happy sailing!
Another great video thank you guys. As a Brit living mostly in Florida the experience in your latest video was just a bit of a tropical storm. Believe me you definitely don't want to be anywhere near a hurricane, I've experienced several, my last was last September in Daytona, FL which ended with our evacuation hotel being evacuated to a high school. Safe sailing and keep the great videos coming. Sadly my sailing days are over but great to follow your exploits!
Yeah we are planning on staying well out of the way of the Hurricane belt for the rest of the season 😅 That sounds like an experience that you won’t soon forget, we hope you stay safe this season! Cheers, glad you liked the video 😊
We really love your channel. A breath of fresh air. We travel the world most of the year and for a couple months a year we work on the water. Your videos are wonderful we have followed your story and thank you for sharing. We might cross paths some day and if we do we will say Hi. Thanks again
Just incase you don't know, you are doing a wonderful job on your videos, I could actually feel the boat move in that storm, so much so that I had to check if we had a storm blowing outside. I felt the rain and itched when I saw those termites. Keep up the great work, Stay Safe & Fair Winds!!
I really enjoy your episodes. One of the things I like best is how you to work together (at least on the videos LOL). That time when you had all four hands on the Furler, I suppose one of you crawled between the legs of the other to be able to get everything within reach. It would’ve been fun to see the pretzel shape that you two formed when getting this job done. I am trying real hard to learn how to understand you with your accent. I am 80 years old so that is a big part of the problem. I have cousins in England and I can’t understand them either. I know it is fruitless to ask you to dial back your accent a little bit so I will continue to use the captions so that I can get every word you say. I am sure that you know that there are thousands of us who are living a dream life vicariously through you. Keep on keeping on. Dave.
For future reference, remember that certain chemicals such as borates and insecticides can be added to epoxy resin to create a more effective barrier against termite interest and infestation. You could place a light layer on your teak wood of such a mixture to greatly reduce the chances of problems. I know it's meant to have that authentic rustic wood look, but a light layer might not change the look very much. A fine grit sanding would give it back the traction for your feet and keep it from looking like shiny plastic.
Sailing brings huge vulnerability and unpredictability, but what a fabullous lifestyle. You could be catching the 7.30am commuter train for London. You made the right choice.
Hi Becka and Zach. Thanks for another brilliant episode of your sea-going life. It's now August in the UK and should be summer, but this weekend, we had howling gales and torrential rain, thanks to Storm Antoni; just like your storm. Not much fun for those on Holiday in the UK. Great to see you enjoying your Hash - liked their idea of 'Free Beer', Ha Ha - and good to see you finally got the 'new' furler installed. Onwards and upwards. Cheers, Russ.
Hi Russ, cheers glad you liked it! Yeah the weather back home has been a bit crazy for this time of year, I've never seen waves so big in August... We are really happy with how the project has gone so far😁
Although a Brit by birth I currently live on my 40ft Fuji (SV Thalassa) in the New Orleans area, where termites are an existential threat to sailboats. I use a stethoscope to try and locate them on my boat for two or three months after swarming season. I also carefully monitor any potential water sources for evidence of their existence.
@@lillyrose3545 I guess you mean the part about sailing. I mean that there are so many channels that change into "Fix IT" channels or "Baby Channels". Hi Guy's not wanting to be a party pooper but at time 22:00 the lower bolt on your new Bracket needs to have at least 3 threads showing to bring it into safety. At the moment the thread is still in the nylon insert of the nut this is not correct you need at least 3 threads showing, for it to lock correctly and not back out. Where the bolt above has about 8 Threads showing which is fine
Grenada is such a beautiful country is it not? I learned to sail there a few years ago and had a great time. Not sure if you mentioned and I'm sure you're already aware, the underwater sculpture park is pretty cool. Now isn't the time, right, but maybe later. Hope this message finds you well and stay safe out there.
I live in the North East of Thailand and here those flying termites are cheered when they swarm. They land in their thousands and then they are swept up, barbequed and eaten. They taste good.
There are loads on termite control on boats in the US sites, dry wood termites are the worse for boats so I’m not sure the ones you experienced are of that species. Most chandlers in the US sell granules, foams etc. I bought a cheap stethoscope in Australia, listened to all my wood, you can really hear them easily, as soon as I heard them munching I got the fumigation man with six fingers in, generations of his kin had been in the buisness….
😂 Torredo worms are more of a boat worry if its wood. A salt wash will clear them off your deck .. Otherwise its insect protein or fish bate.👍🏼🧙♂️🇬🇧 Just dont bring them home with you.

please dont do this to your teak decks!!
just use a teak wash and oil them with teak oil. Termites hate teak and teak oil and will not touch it.
