Agree, Also note that Mrs Bheel is more expressive when in the company of her sisters. At least that is what can be observed compared to other episodes, but we cant see the editing. However, the entire panel is great. I really appreciate this channel.
I feel Parvati ben is like a sponge, she intensely watches and listens and soaks up the new information she's been given. I don't understand what anyone would judge her.

I think Parvati is a sweet and beautiful woman. And yeah, she’s kinda shy when she’s alone but having her friends with her she loosened up some which was nice to see. Man, all of them are cool, this channel just gives me good vibes you know?
I love how their faces relaxed and lit up with smiles when they saw the soldiers coming together in peace. I learned a lot watching these videos.
I loved Mukhtiar's reaction on that segment. But I also feel sad for both Mukhtiar and Muharam's disappointment that wars still kept happening after that day 😞

@@casbee9610 Your remark reminds me my time in the army, during the compulsory military service, officers used to identify all people in the Eastern block as the reds. Just the reds stripping all population, living in the other side of the iron curtain , of their humanity. That was well before the falling of the Berlin wall but politicians and militaries use the same rethoric today regarding the Chinese, the Russians or the Muslims today.

After the truce, soldiers were usually removed from their units ro be sent to others, for they had made friends with the then enemy and governments were not sure they woulld then be ready to keep on shooting at one another. Some officiers were either executed or sent to more dangerous areas were they usually lost their lives. For the main part so, governments tried to do as if nothing had happened, in order to prevent the populations to hear about it, as the amount of fallen soldiers had been so high, people were not so sure they still wanted that war at all.
I'm really glad you showed them such a valuable part of history, one in which humanity prevails over greed.

@@TRYBALS It's rather an emotional one already on its own, and it is very close to my heart for I'm French and the man I love is a German, our great-grand-fathers fought against each other during that war and those truces leading up to Christmas 1914. They might have been sharing that Christmas together.

My grandfather was in training for overseas🇨🇦. They were double marched in freezing rain, full kit. Several, including my grandfather, got pneumonia, arthritis. He lost the use of a lung and was all crippled up for the rest of his short life.

The fact that his first impulse after learning about a culture of his neighbors is to bring a gift to their church fills me with such hope and inspiration. Little gestures of friendship and community like that are what build a better future.
That is a man who has a good heart, who genuinely seems to want to make the world better. I wish I had his optimism and his willingness to do good
I cried for the video and story and then cried for happiness when he wanted to bring the churches a Christmas gift. It was inspirational. Especially, after he watched the Sabaton battle of Bismarck and seemed so discouraged that there could ever be peace.

12:52 For the ladies. It's the phrase Lest We Forget. Those who fought world War 1 are known as the lost generation. It's a war that tends to be overlooked. And depending on the area or school, forgotten. Those who fought should be remembered since they fought for freedom.

@Zach Hogan You are correct. The whole thing was essentially a family fight that everyone else had to pay for in blood. A real crime against humanity that only set the world up for the even bigger atrocity of WW2.
Not to mention, all great Leaders of WW2 are basically from the Lost Generation.
@Zach Hogan It had nothing to do with being bored. Its way more complex and deep. It has to do with the Bagdad-train and Englands fear of loosing its trade monopol. Its still to blame on Aristocrats, but their reasoning is more then "Just being bored". Still pointless, but the way you reason it is dooming future generations to repeat the horrors of the past.

After 9/11 hit in the USA, everyone was caught up in anti-Muslim fever ... I never considered myself a racist, but it was easy to be angry and forget that extremists exist anywhere. Fear was rampant. Above my apartment two Muslim ladies from Turkey moved in; they brought down homemade baklava the first night to introduce themselves, and I was so moved by their action. They invited me up for dinners and we got to be good friends despite different cultures. I never met such generous people. I went with them to Ramadan dinners (I'm sorry, I forget the proper term when the daily fast breaks) at the community center so I could learn more, and it really changed my life. Since then I try to learn about everyone that I can and to live anti-hate as much as possible, even in my small, ordinary existence. Much love to you all from Nevada, USA ❤❤❤

But thanks to meeting people all over the world, on the internet, I’ve turned it around. And your channel is amazing. This song, although I am not religious at all, and the video, are powerful enough to make me cry. Peace is simple. We can just choose to not hate one another, and to choose life! War is wasteful, terrible, and unfortunately sometimes necessary. But don’t think for a moment that it’s not a tremendous lack of imagination to just choose to hate and kill others. Imagine the sudden silence, after having all your senses bombarded for months. The Germans, who were in a better position than the France based soldiers, had dry trenches, very different from the Allies, who were suffering in muddy, freezing trenches. The Germans were singing Christmas carols, and lit candles on their small trees.
Imagine hearing, then joining in to Silent Night, and O Tannenbaum.( O Christmas Tree).
They remembered it was the time for “ Peace on earth, and goodwill to men.” 🎄
Troops from India took part in the truce, too.

I guess the troops from India fought on british Side in WW1 ? Because I think some indian troops fought at the germans side in WW2... but I am not sure.

@@grabble7605 The soldiers didn't forget it a day later actually. The truce lasted several days and in some areas it lasted until New Years day. The truce was unofficial, the soldiers themselves brokered the truce which is why it lasted different amounts of days in different areas. The commanders, generals and higher-ups who wanted the war to continue were pissed when they found out. they had to swap units out from those areas or threaten their own troops with execution in order to get the fighting to restart. Also the next year they decided to do a 24-hour artillery barrage on Christmas day to prevent such truces from happening again.

The girls have such lovely smiles, their eyes light up like Diamonds. When they are laughing at one another at the end (see her angry face) i couldn't stop smiling.
I could see the despair on these people's faces when the soldiers started fighting again. I just wanted to say, there were thousands of soldiers that refused to fight on both sides after the truce. They had to be recalled and replaced to continue the war, with the platoons and battalions broken up and redistributed to other fronts. It was really a time where the light of humanity broke through the fog of war. And world leaders made sure it never happened again. It was so commonplace that it has it's own term now. Fraternizing with the enemy.
Its lovely to hear their compassion towards Christians and Christmas. So often do we as people get put against each other due to our differing religions. But we should respect each other. Regardless of race/religion. I myself am not really a devout Christian, but one thing from the bible sticks with me "treat your neighbour as you would treat yourself". Be friendly with everyone!

Aye, I might not have read much of the Bible but as I recall Jesus said we should be good to our neighbors. I might not get an immediate big shiny reward for helping a stranger but I have done just a little bit to make the world a better place, and I have faith that this does come around. The more good we do the less evil there is and the more people there are who can then help us instead.
I'm an atheist but in my opinion there was something telling them to stop that Christmas day.

Everyone loves to leave the first part of that commandment out, and without the love for God, you can't love your neighbour's truly as yourself when you don't even love yourself enough to love He who made you and sustains you

Her wife must be so blessed to have him. I haven't met her but one time we were delivering a refrigerator to his home and he was out. When he came home all his children started hugging him. I was already filming everything to have it uploaded for patrons so I captured it as well. It was very beautiful moment I saw that day and his family is very lucky.

Indeed, a thoughtful pause followed by such a powerful statement. It's wonderful how someone from a very different culture has summarised the message of the video in such a beautiful way. Just shows that despite the different clothes, the different skin tones, the different beliefs, we are all very much alike...
and the amazing thing is that World War 1 was the first stepping tone towards a more peaceful world, although it wasn't until after world war 2 and perhaps the end of the cold war that things truly settled down on earth in terms of overall war. Sure it still happens, but since WWII, the wars and casualties in them are tiny in comparison.
I in large parts credit this to the information network like the internet, personal telephones, etc. We can sit here and watch people from half around the world just reacting to a musical video.... which was something we wouldn't have been able to just, oh, what, 30 years ago.
You can find on youtube fragment of film "Joyeux Noel" from 2005. It shows this event in a very cool way, how the fighting sides were brought together by a Christmas carol.

Omg, I knew about this event but seeing these wonderful people experience it for the first time genuinely brought tears to my eyes! It’s such a beautiful moment in such an ugly part history and I’m glad they were touched by it too. How precious that they wanted to continue the spirit of a peaceful Christmas by giving gifts to the nearby churches! That is just the most pure and wholesome thing I’ve ever heard of. While they may not celebrate it themselves, I hope everyone associated with the channel and all its subscribers have a happy, peaceful Christmas and holiday season! ❤️❤️❤️

I don't know if I said this before, but I will gladly say it again: this is by far my favorite reaction format and I'm so happy I found it. All these people are so lovely, open-minded and insightful.
This Truce lasted for a few days. In some places over a week. In the many thousands of years of the history of human warfare, this single moment was the greatest act of peace ever. Governments did not put aside their hostility, but rather it was the common soldier who laid down their weapons and embraced their enemies as friends. The Germans started singing Christmas songs, and the British and French began singing their own carols. Then one or two Germans left the trenches and approached the allied lines saying, "Komeraden. Komeraden." Or "Friends. Friends." They shared food, sang songs, played games.... And this happened during one of the most terrifying wars to have ever occurred in Europe. Truce? I think of it as more of a miracle. And what was this insane war all about? An aristocrat was shot by an anarchist, and that lit the fuse on a half dozen different nations that had a tangled network of alliances. Nobody in that generation knew the horrors of real warfare, but were fed stories about the "glorious deeds of the past". And they all wanted to try out the new technologies that were being developed at the turn of the 20th century. Madness. Unfortunately this madness deepened into absolute hate in one soldier named Hitler who was a corporal at the time. And you know where that led to....
Such lovely characters. Mohammed is a sweetheart and Pavarti and company are beautiful. However, I would give so much to have a conversation with Abdul. The wisdom that he has to have would be worth sharing to a young Catholic.

The period of Christmas is the darkest day of them all.(night of the 23rd to the 25th being the longest)
As a result it's a common period for an uplifting holiday.
That's why there are so many around the period, regardless of culture.
This channel is so wholesome and lovely to watch, the gentlemen and ladies are so genuinely curious and appreciative of these new concepts and experiences. Seeing how they react to these other countries and cultures, the questions they come up with, and how they relate it back to themselves and their community is absolutely lovely and really eye opening. Much appreciation and love to the stars, thank you for these experiences!

Sabaton are bards. even according to the google definition of the term bard.
Bard, a poet, especially one who writes impassioned, lyrical, or epic verse. Bards were originally Celtic composers of eulogy and satire; the word came to mean more generally a tribal poet-singer gifted in composing and reciting verses on heroes and their deeds.

Afghanistan 🇦🇫 2011-2012 broke naan 🫓 with Afghanistan soldiers and security guards for jam and cream cheese spread. Chai ☕️ was the best fresh herbs and cooked on fire along with the naan. They loved photos and videos and love to share their songs and clothes.
This war was so incredibly harrowing even by the standards of warfare that it was believed to be the war to end all wars. Look at how that turned out, all these years later and nothing has changed.
Well we have added at least some restrictions to prevent the most horrific methods of killing. E.g. not even Hitler, who had served in ww1 and hence had first hand experience of it, allowed the deployment of toxic gases/ chemical weapons to the very last day of the war
@@hmvollbanane1259 Oh, he allowed it, just not on the battlefield. He sadly had other uses for toxic gases.
@@swanpride yeah though as atrocious as the Holocaust was it wasn't part of the conduct of war but massmurder in an almost industrialized fashion.
Not trying to say that Hitler refrained from using them from the good of his heart but I find it remarkable that two of the worst dictators in human history in hitler and stalin both refrained from using them as both sides were still terrified from the experience some decades earlier and the certainty of the other using the same weaponry in return once one side resorted to them. Pretty much a cold war scenario in the middle of world war 2
Has nothing changed? We still go to war, yes. People still fight and die for reasons beyond their control, yes.
But look at the channel you're on. These people who had previously not known about this event learned about it and felt the same compassion and empathy that people across the world do. We see that some things are universal regardless of culture, language barrier, history and background.
We can see all of this and can discuss it here. The world can be seen as becoming more devisive as we become more connected, as people are flocking to extreme sides everywhere now that the ideologies are freely available for anyone to see, or we can view the new connections as further proof that despite differences, we can all find some common ground.
The only one who can decide how to view it is you.
@@hmvollbanane1259 Good point. One thing about poison gas, it's a double edged sword. If the wind changes directions, then the gas returns to the sender.
There's a French movie from 2005 (if I'm not mistaken) called Joyeux Noël that shows the Christmas truce with French, German and Scottish soldiers meeting and looking at their enemy like human beings, showing family pictures, etc. It also shows how political leaders disapproved of this, to say the least. I've seen it only once but it has a great lesson in humanity.

Such gentle and wise people you have in your channel. I recommend Sabaton-En livstid i krig live The Great Tour for next reaction. I think they will love the band's interaction with the crowd, and their points of view of the meaning of this song will be interesting.
Besides the great analysis and lovely comments, Parvati, Meena and Lakshmi's interactions were gold! I'd love seeing them more in this channel (if they're comfortable with it, of course). I also suggest looking into two traditions from my homeland, castellers (human towers) and sardana (a traditional dance style where people dance in circles), I think they'd be very interesting!
I am pleased that these people seemed to be very respectful towards this event. If they are interested, there is a movie about the Christmas Truce called Joyuex Noel, it was made by the French and shows a portrayal of the Christmas Truce and how they celebrated together. Though I suspect they would enjoy it more if the dialogue could be translated into their language.
If I am not mistaken it was a French-German cooperation and they made two versions simultaneously of it, one from each respective side which aired in both respective countries
I'm a huge fan of the representation of it within Doctor Who aswell (Peter Capaldi's final story). It is such an unbearably moving event.

Or the Last Battle, where German prison guards, prisoners of war, and a band of Allied soldiers defended a castle together against the Nazis.

I don't think it's the intended reaction, but many of these videos bring tears to my eyes, and this was one of them. It shows that we're all the same inside and if we could communicate with respect and compassion, the world could be so much better. I would love to meet these people and thank them for participating in this. It's enlightening and brings me hope.

Great to show them this, but to correct a few historical facts.... Way more than 2 countries took part in those truces, alone in this video, they showed Scots, French, Germans, English among others.
And yes, they were fighting very close to one another, this was called a trench war for that reason. People got so close, that the only way they could go on was by digging trenches into which they could "hide" from direct sighting, if not from whatever would fall into their trenches. Soldiers suffered terrible cases of cold, famine, illness as well as death. These trenches were infested by rats and, depending on the weather, the trenches could even kill them by becoming mud swamps. or by crumbling down.
We did explain most of those additional facts as well but unfortunately could not add each moment in the final video. Hope you understand it.

In case this interest you, although it has been decided in recent years to have them covered with grass so that they are not so worrying-looking, some of these trenches have been kept as trenches for people to visit the sites and conditions of WW1. You can view them online too from France. I went to see them when I was a child and at school (Im French).
this screenshot is a VERY romantisized vue of that christmas truce , the trenches were as a horrorscene , all soldiers were malnutricient ( underweight)and wore certainly not that excessive long hair, not at all , but that christmas truce is really one for the history-books ( I am Belgian)

@@andrecostermans7109 It’s not romanticized in the case of these soldiers represented. It was sporadic. There are photographs and witnesses to prove this Silent Night truly happened. Letters were sent home, some making it to the Press. It was only 4 months into the war. Some soldiers of occupied Belgium paused to bury their dead.
Some governments hid it. Some didn’t. The information is available to the public.
When the fighting resumed after the Truce both forces had to bring in different troops who had not participated in the Christmas Truce because those that did spent more time trying to shoot the sun from the sky then they did shooting at the men they had spent time with the day before.

Wars are started by governments but they’re fought by people. This is one of the best channels I’ve seen on TH-cam. It’s Amazing what normal people can do. One of the videos you’ve reacted to was Sound of Silence. The entire meaning of that song is we often hear without listening and we react without understanding. I feel like this channel is exactly what Paul Simon wanted for us when he wrote that song.

I am surprised how they are not at all familiar with, for us, common things like Christmas or World War. I like that they seem to be genuinely intrested in what happend so many years ago and became one of the most precious parts of our history.
When I first heard this song, I wept; I still cannot IMAGINE the courage it would have taken to be the first man out of the trenches, holding ones' hat by way of parley...

Through your channel I’ve found out about Sabaton and I love it. It’s amazing to me how receptive they are and how humble

And when a soldier was hearing these guns being fired and artillery shells landing near by for months, the soldier would develop something called "Shell Shock", which was later called "Combat Fatigue" during WWII and is now called "PTSD". Some experienced Shell Shock differently, one of the most known symptoms of Shell Shock is something called the "thousand yard stare" where the soldier would just be staring at nothing for a long time looking like they just experienced possibly the worst thing they have ever experienced

What was truly in-creditable about this event is that upper brass had forbid this but the soldiers on the front lines of both sides through yelling and extremely brave messengers agreed to stay in their trenches. The german side was the first to start singing christmas songs with silent night then when they finished the british/french side answered with one of their own eventually leading to the 2 sides joining in no man's land singing, drinking, and several accounts as shown in the video soccer/football games.
I love how kind and sincere these people are. Their comments reflect the kindness in their heart.

12:43 This actual cross, or one very much like it, exists! It is known as the "Khaki Chums Cross", and it is in Ypres, France, about 32 kilometers from the border with Belgium. It was placed there in 1999, on the 85th anniversary of the truce, by (whom I believe to be) the descendants of those who fought in the First World War.
Ypres is a Belgian city.
As much as I like Sabaton, I think Sainsbury's depiction of the Christmas truce is the best one to show people about the event.

Personally I find Sabaton's version translates a bit better for people like myself, tells the story a bit better rather than just showing an event - but as said, that's what I find personally, and also personally, both do the job well. (Though for my personal taste, in Sainsbury's the part of the English guy sticking his chocolate in the German's pocket felt extremely.... corny? Cheesy? not sure what to call it - but there are elements in Sabaton's video where the same thing could be said, so bleh...)

The two sides in that area were actually VERY reluctant to continue fighting for weeks after that day. Because they werent killing enemy strangers. They all showed restraint for a while after

I love the message of this song and that you got to show it to the, as always, interesting to see from other people's eyes. And I LOVE LOVE LOVE your growing contingent of ladies. They are so relaxed and happy together.
Musicians took liberties with telling of story. I don't believe any man came out in the open with hat in hand, especially at first. My understanding is that one side took to singing Christmas carols; Silent Night, and the other side recognized the sound; and gunfire began to stop. When gunfire ceased, then people came out.
Not that much liberties. There was Christmas truce on several locations and there are several ways how they started of which one of them began when a German soldier climbed out of the trenches. They estimate about 100k soldiers had a truce that day. In some areas they tried but didn't work out as planned, so many were killed because the other side misinterpreted their intentions.
That is shown in the video though, the guys in the other trench heard the lead singer play the piano and singing and at 6:00 it seems the french soldier (in blue uniform) started singing as well, prompting the guy with the notebook to write "hear carols from the trenches, we sing oh holy night". Liberties were taken to fit it all in one video, but every element of the video was reported from different parts of the trenches in letters and diaries (well, maybe not that someone had a piano in the trench, that might be the one stretch). Remember that it didn't happen in only one place, the frontline was very long and the truce took place on several places independent of eachother. It is not impossible that at one spot it happened exactly as in the video, but of course here they have combined different stories from that day in one single location.
@@vakistania In an interview, Joakim said that there actually was a piano in the German trench. The German trenches were much better, and built to last to hold onto the territory. The French/Belgium/Allied trenches were more temporary, as the soldiers were intended to attack and take back the land.

I haven't seen anything from Lord of the rings universe but I know it must be something appropriate for these people to watch and possibly enjoy too. We still have a lot to cover since their first time hearing to Metallica, I wouldn't have done this band for more than once but sth in that song made me do it. The words "We're brothers today, friends tonight" gave me goosebumps no matter how many times I listened to them.

I'm so grateful for everybody involved! These videos are the best thing I have seen in a long time...but for this one, I need to raise a hand. To really tell this story, there's John McCutcheon's "Christmas in the Trenches."
I never thought about it like that, putting 2021 on it because they want each day to be like that one. I thought of it as a simple memorial to the fallen from those remembering them in 2021, many years after 1914. Very insightful.
