- This is the first test run of my Kyosho Outlaw Rampage Pro.
At first it wasn't very successful.
But after some head scratching, adjustments were made.
The second attempt was a success.
Motor = Traxxas Titan 12t 550 Brushed.
ESC = Traxxas XL5 EZ Set.
Servo = Power HD 20KG Waterproof.
Radio = Flysky FS-GT3C.
Body Colour
Tamiya PS-15 Metallic Red.
Backed With
Tamiya PS-23 Gun Metal.
What a difference the correct setting makes.
Hi David. I felt very foolish when I figured out the reason it was going so slow. My memory isn't so good these days. But I felt very happy when I ran it the next day 😀👍
True,I'd say we were both of a similar age. Things like that happen to me too.....more often than I care to admit though.
Man that was a huge difference..the slow mo off the roll over was awesome but she looks awesome

That's a VERY impressive, sorted 2WD Truck. Can take tumbles and rolls too!

What a difference a day makes, 24 little hours! Glad it was just a mix-up and nothing serious. Boy does it fly on the new setting. I think that's the fastest I've ever seen you run an RC. Trouble with grass, is grip-roll, get her on the dirt and gravel and this will disappear, and hello to tail-happy drifting! Lovely video in the sunshine, you creation looks fantastic! Lol, Thanks Mark. When I remembered, I felt like a complete novice, and very embarrassed lol. I tried it with 5 different NiMH packs on the first day. I thought they'd all lost power because it had been a week or two since I'd charged them. I couldn't understand why it didn't run as fast as my Slash which has the same motor and esc. When I got home it dawned on me to check the esc settings, thus discovering my error. I could've made a completely new video the next day, but thought it would be more honest to show my mistake.

I've yet to try the stiffest anti roll bar in mine. I think it comes fitted with the medium. On grass it flips constantly, unless you let off throttle and roll through corners. On gravel it slides beautifully... and then flips lol.
Hi. I continued running it after I stopped filming and started to get the hang of it. I have a few fast RC's but I mainly run crawlers. I'm looking forward to running it on loose terrain and getting some power slides in. But this place was local and handy for the test run. Thank you very much for watching.
Great acrobatics on 2:30 - loved that. Yeah it did seem disturbingly slow on day one, but happy days, cured with a simple solve. As Mark said, those grip rolls will vanish on loose gravel and then it really will look spectacular with all the dust flying about. Great truck :)
I was relieved it was only an oversight and nothing serious. I thoroughly enjoyed myself once it was corrected 😀👍

THAT WAS AWESOME.. Oh Derek, I, Like you, knew that at first something wasn't quite right. But man what a difference day 2 brought... WAHOOO.. Hard to tell how excited you are about this rig. lol Just listen to the video as you hear... Low chirps of excitement coming from behind the camera as this great looking truck goes zipping by.. This is a great truck brother. And I would be remiss if I didn't mention that paint job!!! It fits this rig perfectly.. Great video brother.. :P

Day 1 was just running it in Derek !!!! Day 2 was pure beast mode lol, what a difference. This thing is pretty nippy now matey. It looks fantastic out on the field too, that body colour really stands out nice. Top stuff for sure derek
Thanks very much Tibs. I made a novice mistake on day one. But the next day I felt great watching it speed around the park, and seeing the metallic paint pop in the sun. It was also good to find a big open space nearby to run it.
It looked a good spot. I was looking at that grass ramp and wondering if the xmaxx would leave the ground off it, or even putting the ramps on it 👍👍👍
Yeah man! Looks good on the banked turns. I’m sure you’ll get the suspension tuned to handle the sharp turns. Can’t wait to see it jump and powerslide with the rear wheel drive👍🏾👍🏾
Thank you very much Paul. As you know I'm more of a slow trail person, and I got quite excited running this. There's plenty of speed in the 12t brushed motor for me. The ground was very hard and dry which made the tyres grip too well when cornering. But it survived the tumbles with no damage 😀👍

Hi Derek. That was great. To be honest I was expecting it to be as slow as it was on day one because you do have a liking for the slow RC's. It's actually rather a speedy truck and looks like good fun. Is that park very near to where you live? Looks ideal for the speedier RC's. I guess that a scale truck is always likely to roll over in the corners if it's that fast. I'm still without a Kyosho in my collection but I must get one someday. Cheers matey :-)
Hello Pete. Thank you very much. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I do enjoy a bit of ooomph now and again, and this Kyosho didn't disappoint, once I rectified my initial error with the ESC set up lol. The park is just up the road from me. Usually it's busy with families etc, but in the current environment it seems to be very quiet. I will probably use it again to run some of my Tamiya buggies. The paths in the woods can be a bit too rough for them, and this area looks ideal for a quick run around. I will FB you soon and tell you all about our travels 🙂👍
That's nippy, but can roll but looking I can see the wheelbase does look as wide as my slash. But on loose surfaces not an issue but grass has a lot of grip.
Hi Mal. It's got plenty of speed for me. Brushless would be too much. The ground was compact and very dry, so I had to take wide turns to keep the speed up. Good fun though. I really enjoyed myself.

Sounds like wrong pitch on those gears, is it kyosho spur and pinion?
Yes, the gearbox in this kit is prebuilt and the pinion gear is supplied. I triple checked the mesh when I put the motor in and that's ok. 🙂👍👍
