Kewl Beans. What camera did you use that shows the heading and airspeed on the lower right of the video ... AND ... what gives the Distance, Altitude, Elevation Gain on the lower right side of the video? Inquiring OLD minds would like to know. Thanks, Chuck (NE Florida) : +)
We use a GoPro Hero 5 Black out on the wing. That, along with GoPro’s software, allows us to overlay all that information. I believe it just uses the GPS data from the camera to gather all that information.
Wing - Nflightcam ball head mount Forward facing cockpit - GoPro swivel mount Cockpit face (iPhone) - unfortunately don’t know the brand, but I believe we picked it up at Walmart a while ago. It’s just a normal suction cup car mount.
Have you ever flown it heavy? 6 passengers and bags? I've done it. Controls tend to be a lil numb at lower speeds(like landing) but you can still do some amazing Short Take offs and landings with it. Beautiful
Yes, we've flown many times at gross weight with 6 pax and bags for a weekend. It does handle like a truck at low speeds, but is extremely stable. I actually think that it lands a little better when heavy and loaded further toward aft CG - much easier to keep the nose wheel off the ground. Still great climb rates even at gross weight, too!
@@AviationFix Exactly. For high altitude take offs or short runways I usually choose to go with 70% of fuel capacity. Or even less depending on the situations... Its better to be able to do a Short take off safely and top up at an international airport or any long runway than to risk messing it all up. What is the shortest u could roll for a grossweight take off? I usually pull up as soon as I reach a lil extra speed past minimum take off speed and then hold it pff ground and use ground effect to gain speed and take off. ive done 7 passengers and bags with 150nm range of fuel... But then I had an international airport with huge runway 100nm away . Id call in the land at the take off location with a precise eta just to make sure I wouldnt have to circle around before landing. I own land with runways and that's usually the way to go when I take off. Minimum(with extra safe 30%) fuel and pull up asap and use geound effect
I fly mine out of a 2600 ft grass strip and visit a 1800 dirt strip every few weeks. Ive gone gross out of 2600 with 40ft trees at 3100 in the spring time. climbs slow at gross though. The 1800 ft strip I will not go with more than 2 people due to power lines at the end.......
@@chadgriffith5819 wise choice brother. You gotta study your landing areas... I'd love to see someone measure the minimum roll at gross weight at high altitudes
What a great flight thanks for sharing. I'm actually not that far from you, I'm just east of Dayton OH in Fairborn. We have some fairly cool grass over this way as well.
Any more like this in Ohio, Kentucky or Pennsylvania I would really appreciate it. I’m always looking for places like this to take the kids and their tired of Kelly’s lol. I want to hit that seafood joint along the river this summer sometime, I41. Have you been to this?
I41 is a grass strip down around the southern tip of Ohio, Newlon field and the Fly In Cafe. Website shows all kinds of seafood. Like I said I haven’t been there yet but looking forward to trying it out.
May I offer a tip, that if you would add +1 or +2 times on your wing camera/s to get pictures to be lighter. Usually, against white/light shades best to add +1or 2 🙂👍🏼
We have a standard six pack (G5 acts as HSI) and a Garmin 530W and Garmin 430. To answer your question, we have an airspeed indicator, altimeter, vertical speed indicator, heading indicator, compass, RPM and manifold pressure gauges, etc.
Oh, completely misunderstood your question lol. Since the GoPro camera we use has GPS, we are able to download the GPS tracking from it and insert it into the video. It is able to track ground speed, altitude, course, etc.

Could u post a video on how to pack for a trip in your personal plane?
Im wondering how u check for the max load of the plane and calculate the weight of the fuel, passengers and luggage
I love that plane
Thank you!
I fly out of Bluffton, 5G7. Where is Freeman? Looks like a nice place to visit
It’s located in Butler, Ohio. 0OH5 I believe.
Great day. Nice plane. Good video. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for watching, glad you enjoyed it!
Very cool.
I'll have to check that airport out.
Been to OSU a few times to pick up and or drop of my sister who attended there.
Good landing BTW.
I love your plane.
Beautiful landing
Thank you!

Can you share what mounts are you using? Specially the phone mount it doesn't have any shaking footage on vibrating wingshield
Wing - Nflightcam ball head mount
Forward facing cockpit - GoPro swivel mount

Why do you call it a Saratoga when it is a Cherokee 6?
Since we have a lot of speed mods, our speeds are more similar to a Saratoga FG than a Cherokee Six.

That’s a Cherokee six thing 🙂

Awesome flying. I’m just getting into flying. What map are you using on your tablet.
Can u plz gv some idea How much does it cost per hour to fly Cherokee 6
Fuel burn is around 18gph and annual inspection ~3-4k. The rest of the costs vary extensively based on the value of the plane / pilot experience.
How would I get permission to land at Freeman this spring?
Although it is listed as a private strip, the owner runs it as if it is public. So in short, you don’t really need to call to get permission.

Is it possible to land and fly your Cherokee 6 on a fenced rectangular 5 acres grass strip runway 🤔?
Depends on how long, wide, and smooth the runway is
Is this actually a Cherokee 6? Or an older model Saratoga?
Thanks for watching! This is a 1979 Piper Cherokee 6/300 with LoPresti speed mods!

Nice video, what do you use to register and show speed, height, etc?
While in the aircraft?

I cannot stress the tactic of OVER FLYING UNFAMILIAR UNCONTROLLED AIRFIELDS FIRST enough.
I also have a bush flying video on my channel 😁😁.
Haha, good stuff man! Looked like a pretty intense little dirt strip!
@@AviationFix it is relatively easy to land but very narrow, but a go around is pretty tricky haha.

We use ForeFlight on our IPads. It’s an amazing app that’s a must have for any pilot!
