GLENTRESS MTB | RED TRAILS & ROUTES WITH A TRAIL DOG IN THE SNOW

- It snowed so we decided to go and ride at Glentress on some of the red trails in spooky woods with Kai (the trail dog!) Glentress is known for its endless miles of flow trails and its massive bike network.
In this video I ride a handful of red trails at Glentress, showing you through some sections to really give you a look at what the trails are all about!

I love Glentress, my bro and I make an annual trip in September from Cheshire. This year I'll be on my new Escarpe... 👍 The bottom end trails are super flowy. The Motorway was one of my favourite sections. Great to see you looking after Kai and not just running his legs off... He's awesome!

I was there Sunday , a lot more snow and spooky was scary slippy but fun 😊.
My favourite off piste at GT is Ponduro , don't always get it right but it's fun trying , closely followed by Mud and roots into Broon trout.
Mud and Roots into Broon Troot is brilliant! Probably my favourite combo at GT right now.
Awesome stuff! I think I'm going to have to go and ride all these other trails at GT and make a video about them soon - seems like something people want to see - and you guys make the trails sound so fun!

Was there myself today for a quick loop - the reds are great training grounds, but some of the blacks are awesome! not quite Inners awesome, but good nevertheless ... Great place! :))

The off piste stuff is brilliant at GT Alex. Easy enough to find with Trailforks and so much better than the red stuff.

It was awesome seeing Kai running along with you! those turns in the snow where slippery!! How did Kai do when you rode fast?
Glad you enjoyed seeing the big white wolf :) It was bloody slippery! Really fun though. Kai seems to keep up fairly well - obviously if the trail gets 'too fast', then he struggles to stick right behind us - but for 80% of what we ride, he's cool.
If trails get steeper, he struggles....more so the day later, because he's trying to run as fast as he can, it puts a lot of unnessesary pressure on his joints. I don't think it's fair to let him go wild and come out with us when we ride lots of steep stuff.
So we're pretty selective, and think about when and where's best to take him.
Hey mate. Actually saw you on this ride but you were too far away. We were at the bottom of The Bitch awaiting a launch into Ponduro. My current GT favourites are Trailfairy Plan - it's a monster. Hush Hush for crazy speed between trees and finally, Ponduro. Pure techy-goodness!

Great video by the way! I live right besides GT and somehow I had no idea it was this snowy on top of the hill haha. Looks like good fun slipping around like that! Never ridden in the snow. How much harder is it than the regular sloppy mud here?
Hey, glad you enjoyed the video! Yeah, it's had a dusting of snow for a while (well...it did last week, it may have melted now.) Riding in the snow is sweet, kinda like riding in the sloppy mud, but it's also very different at the same time. Give it a go! I think it's brilliant.

Quick question I have four dogs all stay out of the way and love coming with me. Does your dog ever get left behind? How fast are you going do you know?
Hey, never left behind - obviously we use common sense when riding....like if we rode a FAST track, we'd stop at numerous points to wait for Kai to catch up - but most of the time he's fine and sticks right behind us.
Obviously cautious of how much he runs, making sure he gets ample stops for water and a breather :)
God, looks terrifying, how do you stay upright ? Kia must be a very fit dog, how long will she run alongside you. Also do you use a chest strap for the GoPro ? Thanks, great video 👍🐶
Good balance is how I stay upright, lol! It was pretty slippy though. Kai is extremely fit - I'm kinda jealous. He can run at the minute for usually 2 hours of riding, then he started to get tired. But he loves comes out with us on the bikes. Yep I use the GoPro chest mount - and I'd recommend that one over any of the cheaper knock-offs. The GoPro chest mont pad is a lot bigger (and a lot more comfy!) than the smaller plastic ones. That means you're not going to get as much feedback from the trail showing on your camera's footage (less shakey.)

Just bought the sommet vr ... what parts have you changed and why? .. i see you have already changed the forks .
I had mine from frame only from Vitus, so I haven't changed the forks as such, most of the time I run fox suspension

Trail dogs are the best :) Yep...this time of year (apart from the weather) is great for taking trail dogs out on rides - plus they don't overheat
