22 sets of twins tried both vegan and meat diets. Researchers at Stanford University studied the twins' cardiovascular health. After eight weeks following their respective diets, the twin siblings who ate a vegan diet had lost more weight, reduced their LDL, or "bad" cholesterol, and experienced lower insulin levels, according to the study's findings. "The findings from this trial suggest that a healthy plant-based diet offers a significant protective cardiometabolic advantage compared with a healthy omnivorous diet," the study's authors wrote. The study, published Nov. 30 in the journal JAMA Network Open.

    Dairy consumption increases breast cancer.
Dairy is full of the hormone estradiol because the dairy cow is milked while it is pregnant and it has been measured in the milk. The 7th day Adventists are often studied because they are health conscious, don’t drink alcohol or smoke, and eagerly participate in studies. ADVENTIST HEALTH STUDY 2 showed the more milk the Adventists consumed the higher the breast cancer. This study was confirmed by a study in China, CHINA KADOORIE BIOBANK STUDY. The Conclusion: The more dairy you consume the higher your breast cancer risk. ¼ cup/day of milk increases breast cancer risk by 17%.

Dairy products contain estrogens and insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1), hormones that naturally occur in cow’s milk. Consuming dairy products can lead to excess levels of these hormones in the body, which are linked to breast and prostate cancers. So much info available now.

Colo-rectal cancer. The World Health Organization, based on over 800 studies, has classified processed meat (bacon, ham, deli sliced meats, canned meats, others) as a class 1 carcinogen like smoking cigarettes. Red meat, beef and pork, is classified as a class 2 carcinogen. The lifetime risk of developing colorectal cancer is about 1 in 23 for men and 1 in 25 for women.

It's the additives in the cured meat.
As for unprocessed red meat, the named chemicals are formed from burnt meat, aka grilling and high heat frying.
The compound in red meat kills cancer.
summary of biochemistry research on **trans-vaccenic acid (TVA)** and its effects on human cancer cells, along with links to the relevant studies and the rationale for their inclusion:
      ---
      ### 1. **TVA Enhances CD8+ T Cell Function and Anti-Tumor Immunity**
      - **Study**: *Trans-vaccenic acid reprograms CD8+ T cells and anti-tumour immunity*
      - **Link**: [Nature Article](www.nature.com/articles/s41586-023-06749-3)
      - **Rationale**: This study demonstrates that TVA, a long-chain fatty acid found in ruminant-derived foods (e.g., beef, lamb, dairy), directly enhances the function of CD8+ T cells, which are critical for killing cancer cells. TVA inactivates the GPR43 receptor, leading to activation of the cAMP-PKA-CREB signaling pathway, thereby improving anti-tumor immunity. This research highlights TVA's potential as a dietary supplement to complement cancer immunotherapy.
      ---
      ### 2. **TVA's Direct Anti-Carcinogenic Effects on Breast Cancer Cells**
      - **Study**: *Trans vaccenic acid (trans-11 18:1), a precursor of cis-9, trans-11-conjugated linoleic acid, exerts a direct anti-carcinogenic function in T47D breast carcinoma cells*
      - **Link**: [Springer Article](link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10068-014-0087-3)
      - **Rationale**: This research shows that TVA suppresses the proliferation of T47D breast cancer cells by downregulating anti-apoptotic proteins like Bcl-2 and procaspase-9. The study provides mechanistic insights into TVA's direct anti-cancer effects, independent of its conversion to conjugated linoleic acid (CLA).

Plants are missing essential amino acids also even if they did have them all... they are in the wrong ratios. The body needs all the amino acids to be available all at ones in order to make protein. For example if you have alot of one or two amino acids and very few of the others then the limiting factors are all the other ones that are missing or are in low amounts it doesn't matter if you have alot of some. This is what it means to be a complete protein. Meat and eggs are complete all on their own, and plants are not.

My weight briefly dropped below 70kgs over the next 12 months but I’m back up to 75kgs. 70kgs is probably my ideal weight but I enjoy food, beer and wine too much.

Almonds are responsible for enormous environmental damage - they require huge amounts of water and pesticides to grow. 10% of California's water supply goes to almond production. And more pesticides are used on almonds than any other crop. The most commonly used pesticide is glyphosate (Roundup) - which is toxic to the bees that are needed to pollinate the almond trees. But you just want to virtue signal about how you drink almond milk rather than real milk.

@ it appears that it was due to malnutrition as a result of not adhering to our species specific diet that we had been eating for 2 million years prior. We became reliant on a few crops that we were not meant to eat it looks like. So does this mean if we went back to eating and living like we did before the ag revolution we would be taller and healthier? I also figured i would look up what our stomach acidity levels are compared to other living beings (omnivores, herbivores and carnivores) and looks like we have the same level of scavengers (carnivores). Am i crazy to think that this means we should be eating only meat like we did for 2 million years? I wonder what would happen to any other animal of it was not fed what it had evolved to eat? Would it also get sick? Why wouldn’t we feed tigers plants in the zoo? Why not feed Gorillas meat in the zoo? Im very curious.

Actually I do know. I've master's degree in biochemistry, My diet is 95% pecto-vegetarian. Sometimes I eat meat, and I can eat meat if offered.
Many plant proteins are incomplete because they lack one or more essential amino acids in sufficient quantities:
      For excample:
Nuts, seeds and grains are usually limiting Lycine.
Legumes are usually limiting Methionine and/or Cysteine.
      Some Vegetables are limiting Methionine.
It is absolutely possible to get full and sufficient amouts of essential amino acids form plants. But it is very difficult to get them from single source only.
      Hope this helps! :)

Thanks to the 3/4 of carbs in the legumes, and everything else... I hope to return to veganism, but I'm waiting for better meat alternatives that DON'T contain 3/4 of carbs.
