I'm confused. I like the peer counselor's stance of not punishing self-injury, sharing their own experience ETC. I'm confused about her directing the girl to think about how they act towards people when they're in crisis. Especially saying between the two of them, IE how she treats the counselor. Isn't this a professional job? Just very confused but like the main ideas of relationship building.

From 7:56 you will hear the answer to this. Peer support is built on connection and self-determination. Shery is trying to model and have the peer look at different ways of interacting and is seeing how this is keeping the peer disconnected. Peer support is about connection. Shery is helping the peer learn from a connective POV how to interact differently.

Also, whatever is going on with the peer supporter would probably be distracting to the consumer in real life. It distracted me.

If the respite house or the peer supporter made the consumer think she was supposed to be there to give, that was messed up. Also, at some point the consumer expressed a wish to cared for. Why not fucking do that?
