I haven't driven new Mokka yet but I got inside about 1 week ago at Opel ASO in Wroclaw - just to check the interior. I must agree - there is much less space inside than I expected. In fact it's claustrophobic. Very good presentation and venomous commentaries (I love them) - as always on this channel. Thumb up Mr M. (and Mrs A.) !
Six months ago I bought an "Opel Mokka Ultimate" and I am very pleased with it. I'm 63 years old. To date, I have had countless cars: BMW 318i, Alfa Romeo 156, Opel Corsa GSI, Fiat Barchetta, Volvo S40 2.0 D etc. I made hundreds of thousands of km. in Europe. Therefore, I have the opportunity to compare. I am very pleased to have preferred Mokka. It is very stylish. It has an easy and enjoyable driving. Very responsive car. The interior and exterior design is excellent. Engine-gearbox harmony and safety equipments are great. I recommend it to those who do not have children, though.
I've driven the sister car peugeot 2008 with the same engine & gearbox. I can confirm this stalling issue there too but that is due to the start-stop system. once you deactivate it, the engine is just fine. Also, on the astonishing side is that the car averaged 5.8l/100 km when I got it and after driving it for a couple thousand of km on city, highway, b roads etc I managed an avg 4.9l/ 100 km (but with a very smooth and careful driving).
I don’t like it :( Something is disjointed between how it looks on the outside vs the inside. Not the same car, but a similar design language is represented on the bmw i3 and I love that car
By far the best looking small SUV! Even better looking than the over styled 2008. It will get its' sales figures despite the fact that the 2008 is better car in nearly every aspect.
FYI, at 11:00 - as I own one myself - the radio's volume is probably preset in the auto mode. This is done through a relative option in the touch screen. If activated, the volume is auto-adjusted according to the vehicle's speed, which in turn results occasionally in a noisy cabin, most likely because of increased REVs and aerodynamic sounds. I find this feature silly, if not pesky, so I just never make use of it. Moreover, the Mokka itself is very well insulated - and therefore quiet - so the particular setting is rather useless. Regardless, this is an excellent and right-to-the-point review of the car, which I think is very helpful to potential buyers! Personally, I'm happy with the purchase, it's a high-quality robust, and well-built urban SUV. Well, with a respectively higher price tag and some minor cons imho. Thumbs up and greetings from Greece :)
Thanks. I don't think we're talking about the same thing. In my case sometimes the radio would just start blasting loud music as I turned the car on, even though I wasn't listening to the radio before turning the car off. It seemed random, and it had nothing to do with volume adapting to car speed, because the car wasn't moving yet. Probably a bug they will eliminate with a software update.
Looks good. Would sell pretty well in Canada. I think Opel's approach to minimalism is well done. Physical HVAC controls and the infotainment isn't a tablet stuck to the dash. Does Opel still have access to the GM parts bin?
The Grandland X Hybrid4 is not bad. If you have a bigger budget I'd check out Mercedes GLA PHEV. And if you really want to go to town, the Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid is up there :)
I have just test drive the manual and 8 speed Ultimate models. These were both December 2022 cars. Neither had the stalling sensation and the steering was quite good. This is un comparison with the 'alive ' steering of my Fiesta ST and very quick steering of my Cupra Ateca. So I ordered one.
Great review Marek. Too many niggling bits there for me to be interested. Great design outside but when you're time is spent inside the car it's got too be right there too.
Fair enough! BTW, your name reminded me of my favourite childhood car Talbot Matra Rancho. I know, I was weird. Everyone else liked Ferraris and Lambos :)
@@MarekDrives Lol. I only ever heard of the Talbot sunbeam. I'm Irish but decendents trace back to French origin so you never know, could be a distant relative there?? I did years of long distance driving before pandemic. A car has to feel and drive right. Little niggles become big pains when driving 3 to 4hrs per day. Cheers Marek.
Great review Marek, the new Opel Mokka seems very promising! I also reviewed the Opel Mokka E (electric version) in my channel and I was a bit shocked by how less equipment you get for a starting price of 35k euros. The petrol versions are nice! But the electric version seems too expensive and under equipped. Otherwise I'm very impressed with the design, front reminds me of the Opel Manta
Seems like my 2015 Corsa 3 door have more room than Mokka, I'm 6ft tall and the interiour is huge actualy bigger than my dad's Rapid! Are you presenting German or Polish prices? Cause in Czech it's a relatively affordable car. The automatic version starts at 16,700 euros ;)
Great review! Can see the peugeot wing mirrors, exterior and interior door handles and the automatic gear knob is from a peugeot. The glass is not GM tempered glass, thats how you know its not an Opel but still looks stunning. Hello from Croatia :D
It's a nice car, but man it's so small. I bumped my head many times, was not able to fit my legs through the doors :-D + petrol automatic was quite noisy and there was quite a lot of vibrations for my taste. I am so glad was able to sway my parent to 4x4 SCross which is more of "an old school box the on wheels" but much more practical and the fuel consumptions is surprisingly a tiny bit better.
My mother is currently driving a Vitara which turned out to be too flimsy and underpowered. No surprise there, it’s got Suzuki written on it. This would have been a nice upgrade if it wasn’t FWD only.
Depends on the engine. My wife drives a vitara 1.4 MHEV AT, that is a little rocket especially around town. Underpowered is the 1.2 130ps from psa in this review! It only keeps your AC running, not your car…
@Pavlos Piaditis thanks, but my insurance policy doesn't cover other people's private cars. Also I usually need the car for a 3-4 days, so thank you, but thank you :)
@@MarekDrives no problem. Keep the great job and never lose your spicy sarcasm on the reviews, gives them a unique style and originality. It's great to hear negatives that perhaps someone couldn't imagine unless using the car after buying it. It's good some critic for the companies so that they can improve and have a view from users/ customers perspective.
In the back seat you bang your head in the roof if you lean backward against the headrest. I'm only 5,7 feet tall and this happens...not ok. What a design fault
Crossland is actually more of a Meriva successor, so I don't think there's anything in the Peugeot range that covers it. Anyway, it's now all the same underpinnings.
Anyone can build a car, but the sense of attention to detail is somehow never with the French... That terrible rear door aside, if you look carefully, the font on the 12V socket and the Sport mode selector is the PSA font, while that on the AC controls is the "old Opel" (GM) font. Sigh. And they had Crossland and Grandland to fix this, so what's the excuse?
I would never buy a Sellantis built car. Peugeot/ Citroen/ Vauxhall/ Opel all use the 3 cylinder pure-tech engine. This engine like the Ford ecoboost engine uses a stupid cambelt in oil arrangement. These cambelts can prematurely break. Both the puretech and ecoboost engine can suffer from other problems too such as overheating, ECU's and ignition problems. If it was my own hard earned cash, I would buy a Suzuki Vitara 4 cylinder chain driven 1.4 boosterjet. The interior may not be as classy as the 2008, but Suzuki's are a lot more dependable.
This car and similar shaped are soooo senseless in my opinion. Outside not really small but inside really small. Just for old couples who have no grandchildren and no hobbies. But when I see how you had to deal with your foot when climbing on the driver seat: also not really great for elderlies.
Funny how the cars are always designed for "young, dynamic, adventurous" people, and old geezers end up driving them. I've never seen a hamster or a young person driving the KIA Soul :)
The 1.2 130ps engine from psa is utter crap! I had it in my c4. Sold it after 4yrs in stead of the usual 5. I was completely sick of it. Why? It only keeps the AC running, not the car…

At least after the redemption of the PSA, the Opel models became good looking 😄😄
I disagree. They look boring now.
They looked good before.
This is a real Opel again as we know it from the 80's - design wise.
The visior reminds the old models like the Ascona. From me 👍.

Puma, juke and now Moka have a huge bonet compared to their overall size, just to impress buyers.

The stalks and buttons on the steering wheel are the same, as you'd find in a Buick.

Like the review, simple and straight to the point! the Mokka looks good but price is up there once you start getting options...worth it or not??
I'm afraid cars are not going to get any cheaper :(
I remember buying a compact hatchback for 10k euro, but that was 20 years ago.

Same trim level is 22300 eur where I live

Thanks for sharing!
With glass I guess they would change the supplier for new models.

Many reviews say its quite spacious inside. Whats your height
@@karimtemri1664 Just 185 cm, I would say average height.
Good review Marek. Next time put your trousers on - you might get arrested for driving around in your pants.
When you introduce the boot volume I got the sudden urge to pee. Strange!
There is no open button for the trunk … annoying

Yeah, I think Jeep Renegade is the last AWD Stellantis model in this segment. And I think it also comes as a PHEV, which may be interesting for you.

Love the styling, just a shame the drive and practicality isn't on the same level.
Opel doesn't seem to have changed much comparing to previous. Not tempting by far specially with that PRICE TAG
After this review i noticed how much dull this car is
