Nice job! This was so helpful. My speaker grills started crumbling believe it or not, and the dealer wanted $200 to replace them. Following your video, I was able to replace the speaker grills myself for the cost of the grills (about $30). To answer KeishaLou's question, the bolt between the seat cushions is a 12 mm metric bolt.

I like the step-by-step nature of your replacement. You inspired me to finally tackle the rear door speaker removal replacement of my 1992 Toyota Century V8 import (JDM). Thanks Carol.

Huseen, I had the same question since I have a 2005 XLE. I called the service dept at a local Dealership. The guy said just to disconnect the battery before removing those side panels. The airbag is NOT connected to the side panel so it should come off just like in the video. Just be careful not to hit or puncture the airbag that is behind the panel.

Brilliant idea with the old speaker frame. I will give it a try when I update my rear speakers. Thanks for that!!!

i just purchased a set on jbl 3way 6x9 from amazon and will be installing them over the xmas break thanks for the video. I had to reuse the speaker frame on my sons 05 Vibe which is also built by Toyota i dont know why they have such an odd shapes. I'll be using them with a MTX amp at about 50 to 75 % of its capacity, should sound great. Keep your videos comming, you explain yourself well.

Excellent video!!! Thx so much. I have a 2005 Camry and have not changed out the rear speakers because everyone said it was a pain to do. After watching your video, I'm going to do it. Hey, you have to crank some AC/DC out of those new speakers now!!!!!!

Thanx for the video. I was able to replace my speakers without any trouble. This was a great tutorial. Now you gotta show me how to install an amplifier.

Everyone, home speakers are mounted into a box (speaker cabinet). The box affects how the speakers sound. In the car, the trunk is the speaker "box". Listen to your speakers with an empty trunk, some stuff in the trunk, foam blocks or the space-filling materials in the trunk. Put stuff into the trunk, or take stuff out, until the sound suits you. Experiment to enjoy!

I have a Camry Vienta 1997 model, which is probably only called that in Australia, and it has 6" x 9" speakers in the rear deck and 4" in the front doors.
I am about to change the rear speakers, and this video has been very helpful. Pulled the back seats out today, along with the side bolsters and the plastic trim, just to see how it was put together, so thanks carolking63.
It also gave me access to a defective seat belt , so that was a bonus.

I have an 03, I think the 4 factory 6x9s sound good with deep bass (in fact I have a video review of it main man). I also think the 2 tweeters for front dash them sound good.

Good video. Those factory speakers are hot dumpster juice trash! :D I got JBL system in my 2009 but I think it's the same crappy speakers with a JBL logo or something, LOL.

I'm most of the way through installing new speakers on my 02 Camry thanks to your vid. I appreciate you taking the time to do this! If it weren't for your video I don't know that I would have felt confident enough to do it myself. However, my factory speakers look a bit different than yours. I think they might be upgraded or something. I'm hoping I can use the existing mounts like you did to make it work. (also i'm working on figuring out how to wire them to the toyota wiring) Thanks!

Does your camry have a factory amp? If so, did you have to leave it disconnected so it wouldn't mess the sound up using after-market speaker replacements?
