Hello Tony, another great review, you are most resourceful when it comes to firewood. The Erick Hill meter will be the new benchmark for moisture meters of the future. Cheers Woody !!!
Hey Tony. Finally! A moisture meter that we don't have to fight to get into a hardened piece of wood! Thanks for reviewing the ErickHill meter for us old guys. Lol. Rob...
Jason, both meters are very nice. Whether pin or pinless they give you a better understanding how wet your wood is. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
Hi Tony, can’t believe you’re at #112. It only seems like yesterday when to started TCT! I have to say, you have progressed to being a very ‘polished’ performer these days! Well done! I so much enjoy your channel! Unlike other channels, who keep producing the same old, same old content, you conversely introduce new and innovative content almost all of the time! Keep up the good work Tony! Hope you have a wonderful Christmas!! Len (Devon 🇬🇧)
Len I appreciate you watching and commenting from the beginning. Cant believe it’s been 18 months. I’m glad you enjoy the content. Happy Holidays to you and your family.👍TCT
Always enjoy your videos Tony. You enunciate well and you give great, and useful information. If people don't understand after one of your reviews, they never will. Erick Hill
Thanks Tony, I have a small pin type Erik Hill meter that I use a lot because it fits in my pocket. After seeing this I will be upgrading to the new pinless model.
Erickhill looks like they make some nice stuff. Definitely be good when I start selling wood. Right now I am couple years ahead. Thanks for the giveaway and review
I’ve been looking for a good moisture meter and after watching your video the Eric Hill moisture meter seems to fit my needs. Thanks for the great video.
John im honored you take my word and have purchased several of the tools I’ve reviewed. As I mentioned I’m not trying to sell anything just inform what’s out there. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
I wish I had a meter like that in my firewood business 30 years ago. There must be some good engineers designing at ErickHill. The pins were always a problem back then. As usual you have done a good job on presentation Thank-you
I like the Erickhill meter having no pins. Putting the cap on and off my meter now is bothersome when I put it in my pocket. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
William I know what you mean. My caps are not fitting tight on my old pinned meters and I’m afraid I’ll lose them. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
Another great review Tony! I keep meaning to watch your heated apparel video because we love our Ororo gear then adhd takes over lol. Heading there now!
Heath, I got very interested in the heated vest after watching you and Rachel review the Ororo vest. So when Ihood reached out I was all over it. After this years archery and gun deer season I’m sold on heated apparel (socks, vests and jackets). Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
Another great tool video. The Erickhill moisture meter would be great for all the wood I use in the workshop and for the firewood too. Thanks for all the tool videos.
A moisture meter would definitely come in handy in the woodyard or woodshop to determine how wet your wood is and how long you may need to wait before using it. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
I've been addressing a damp masonry wall in my garage and the Erickhill meter may be just the ticket for confirming my progress. It would also be interesting to compare it to my other pinned meters on firewood. Thanks for sharing this one Tony.
Great review Tony: I like the Erickhill moisture meter. The pinless design is great. My concern is not being able to see the LCD screen in the sunlight. To this day, I still struggle with the iPhone in bright light.
Richard I agree no company has come out with a good display in bright sunlight. If Apple/iPhone can’t come up with a good screen we are going to have to wait for someone to come up with a better screens or technology. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
Frances for us firewood people it’s no big deal but if you’re running a mill you don’t want pin holes on fine lumber like walnut or cherry. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
I hate when my shit gets out dated lol especially my pc. But I love innovation too. Always afraid I’m going to break my pins when I stab it into wood.. Great review as usual ❤️👍🏻!
I like the pinless design of the ErickHill meter. I always seem to end up having the pins bend or recess into the body of the meter over time. Would be nice to have a analog needle indicator option for the display.
Funny you should mention that. I would love to see an analog meter come out for firewood. I know some of the expensive moisture meters used in fine woodworking are analog. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
Hi Tony. The erickhill pinless would be great for someone with a sawmill. FYI...I do know that it's not a new tech. I work in the disaster restoration industry, and protimeter has that style for many years. However much more expensive.
The first business I owned was water damage and they had pinless meters but as you said they were definitely more expensive. Technology and pricing have come a long way. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
Great video as always, my wife is not liking me watching your videos , my tool collection is getting bigger n bigger and now probably going to add the Erickhill meter to the collection lol…
Congrats, you are the winner of the ErickHill EWM04 pinless moisture meter. If you email me TonysCoolTools@gmail.com your address I’ll have it shipped out. 👍TCT
I did a comparison on all the pin type meters and found no two meters read the same and the pinless was no different. The meters differed plus or minus 4%. The main thing any of the meters tell us is a reasonably accurate measurement of how wet our wood is. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
Maybe they use a new stile of sensor but woodworkers and furniture makers have used moisture meters without pins for a long time because they need to know if a slab of wood for a table or something else is dry on the inside so it stays stable and does not warp.
You are right, anyone dealing in fine woodworking needs an accurate meter and most are pinless but they definitely are more expensive. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
The EricHill meter without the pins would be great for items you don’t want to stick pins in. Does the Eric Hill meter have any other pin less competitors? As usual….nice presentation Tony ! Merry Christmas 🎄👍👏🇺🇸 Rick
Rick there are other pinless meters but primarily for the water damage industry (floods, broken pipes). Happy holidays to you and your family. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT

Bill , yes they did!

I've been addressing a damp masonry wall in my garage and the Erickhill meter may be just the ticket for confirming my progress. It would also be interesting to compare it to my other pinned meters on firewood. Thanks for sharing this one Tony.
Glad you enjoyed the video. Either meter should confirm if you are getting moisture and how bad.
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
Hey timely video for me. I don’t currently own a moisture meter,so I’ve been researching. Eric Hill pinless may be my first.
Timing is everything! Glad you enjoyed the video.

I can see wood workers would like not poking their boards. Thanks Eric Hill!! You too Tony. Maybe you can trade Chris some gum for one.
Harold glad you enjoyed the video. I’ll try getting a full stick of gum but I’m not gonna hold my breath.😂
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
The Erickhill meter looks good Tony. I could see why there would be a definate need for a pinless meter in the wood industry.
The pins are the problem we all have with possibly bending or breaking them.
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
I like the pinless design of the ErickHill meter. I always seem to end up having the pins bend or recess into the body of the meter over time. Would be nice to have a analog needle indicator option for the display.
Funny you should mention that. I would love to see an analog meter come out for firewood.
I know some of the expensive moisture meters used in fine woodworking are analog.

Erick hill seems to make quality scanners
Chris I agree after testing several of their meters.

I would like to see a comparison, video of Eric hill and the other moisture meters to see how close the numbers are
I did a comparison on all the pin type meters and found no two meters read the same and the pinless was no different. The meters differed plus or minus 4%.
The main thing any of the meters tell us is a reasonably accurate measurement of how wet our wood is.
