Thanks for this video. You can also try the non-petroleum NOVUS plastic polishing products if you're sensitive to chemicals as I am. There are 3 levels, 1-2-3. Use a microfiber cloth & read the instructions. Deep scratch removal #3 is tricky & needs practice & patience but worth the effort. Please don't practice on your good trays - start on the backs until you get the hang of it. I have found Novus #2 works really well on most trays - just polished one yesterday w/similar shiny results to the paste wax but it does also remove fine scratches, so an added benefit. We've used NOVUS on Bakelite jewelry literally for decades. BTW phenolic resin is an industrial form of Bakelite. I am a collector & vintage reseller & do not work for NOVUS!

Thank you for this video. It inspired me to use a natural beeswax conditioner on my discolored tray and it looks amazing!

      What brand did you use?

It was from Little Beehive Farm. I got it at a local farmer’s market In Massachusetts.

My mother had a few of these pieces way back when. I kept a couple but they were quite dull and discolored. Tried the paste wax (I had some) and they look SO much better! Thanks! 😁

What kind of paste wax did you use? They don't make Johnson anymore and I want to make sure I use one equivalent.

@@heatherr.9027 I had some SC Johnson , so I used that. Howard makes one. Or I think beeswax would also work. Just make sure it’s a clear wax.

I have a tray that I cannot find these particular birds anywhere! I've tried Google, Etsy, even bird identification websites. If I send a pic, could you tell me if you've seen it?

Thank you, I'll start with beeswax and then try paste wax if that doesn't work. My tray label includes the impervious to "cigarette burns!"

Thank you for making this video. You should use gloves. Your skin is an organ too and chemicals on your skin is just as bad as breathing it in or eating it. Take care of you

You are right! I always wear gloves when I use this stuff BUT I can’t film myself with gloves on. Thank you for the excellent reminder!

Does anyone know what they might be worth if I was to sell at a yard sale, I have a bowl with the bird on it?
