I know both Billy and boostfactory made high 400s about 15 years ago using an AEB. Those threads and image links on vortex are long dead at this point though.
AEB definitely isn't the same due to larger ports in head and intake manifold, also larger pins. However I believe Billy's was a small port head and 19mm at least not sure about intake manifold and TB. He did 461whp with nitrous but I can't find the dyno sheets to know what it did for torque.

Sick video .. always great content from you guys... with your experience with the 1.8t in these .. what would you say would be the max you can push on a stock one and daily drive it reliably ? I was thinking around 270 hp.
It's 18°F (-7°C) here in Central Wisconsin rite now. I guessed 316... So I was fairly close... Don't think I'm gonna push my stock AWM 1.8T in my 04' Passat Wagon that much... LoL
These motors can handle plenty of power. Its torque spikes that bend rods. All about a perfectly dialed in tune with a turbo that has some lag. Ive seen several others try this in the past and pretty sure they made higher numbers and survived for decently long because of having a perfect tune and slow spooling turbo to save the rods.
Well done 👏🏻👏🏻that’s impressive figures. Made more power than most 1.8T on this channel with built motors 😂 I wonder what the max would be with cheap drop in rods without trashing it…any ideas on figures ?? What’s the plan for this now ?
Only because those are client cars and we care about their longevity. Obviously if they didn't care we'd push them way further. Also Ethanol which we're running this car on isn't available at the pumps here so tuning customers cars on it isn't much of an option.
in denmark we are running 300-320whp no problem on 99octan no wmi, 1,1bar on a gt2871 street car, im building a stock block with a gtx3076 and wmi hope for 440-450ish whp.
So in my mk4 clutch and trans both worked fine then I ended up dropping a valve. Got a new motor in it and got it running again. Went to go and drive it out it in gear release the clutch and car does not stall or move and I tried every gear. Took off the clutch put a brand new throw out bearing in put it all back together and still nothing. So I’m gonna assume that it needs a clutch which was my first guess but could there be any other possibilities like tranny or maybe even the clutch lever in the transmission or maybe even shift linkages. If you have any ideas it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance
How much do you guys charge for tuning? I live in washington state and am building a stroker 2.1 for my jetta. Once she comes out of the paint booth and the motor gets dropped in I would love to have you guys pump it up for me, maybe showcase in a little video!
been working on installing a Maxxecu onto my 2002 Golf its 2.0 but i also have a good 1.8t motor a spare 2.0 and a spare 1.8t head that im interested in putting onto my spare 2.0
wish i could upgrade my rods then big turbo my 1.8t in my Audi a4 b6 but unfortunately its an auto Tiptronic transmission and I've heard they don't go long at high hp and torque
441 and 345 wheel power/touque is crazy on those chocolate OE rods, I've seen 295 flywheel torque @ lower revs 3ish kill rods, guess the key is pushing the torque higher up the rev range. What did you rev it too?
I can’t be the only one wondering this. I have 2 golfs that are 2.0 N/A I know they can’t push much power but do you think they have any potential whatsoever? One is a stick and one is auto I planned on boosting my stick but it will definitely be a lot cheaper to put a 1.8t in it.
what's most Hp you can get on stock fuel pump..? also what do you know about doing manual swaps.. i have a manual gti and auto gti, i want the manual in my auto.. less problems with car harness, my only real question is ecu.. i have a apr stage 1 automatic ecu.. and a stock manual ecu.. i would like to use my staged ecu in the manual but ive been told i have to eeprom clear or that something in general has to be done to ecu to make it work with a manual tranny? any info about this would be helpful. also did you work out all the bugs with plug and plaY harness for emu black? didn't seem so plug and pLAY when you were putting it in.. lol.
Why didn't it seem plug and play. Watch the EMU black video we did. It's literally that...plug and play. As for your ECU/trans question it just needs to be coded in the ECU.
Wild is not even the word, this is amazing!! So considering you guys mentioned stock Throttle Body & Intake Manifold, would there be any merit throwing on any aftermarket upgrades of those you might have around to see where that takes things before you grenade it? Or is that going against the whole "stock everything"
At this point there's enough power to wreck everything by just using timing/boost. So yes putting a better TB and intake manifold would help make power easier... it's not going to make it make any more overall power. If it's going to break at say 450whp... it won't matter what TB/intake manifold is on it. If we were tapped out on it making power, sure we could do things like that to help free up HP, but at this point it's just a couple keystrokes away from making more/wrecking the way it is. lol
I have a question and a suggestion. What was the IAT peak during the runs? Also would love to know ¼ mile time. Even if it's just with an app on phone. So what you're saying is that with good rods and a gt28 there's no reason I can't have a 350 hp car, and I can push my k04 more than the 15-18 psi I'm running... Lol... Now if only I can get the time to put my parts on...
How are you making that much power on a BAM engine? Or are they different engines to UK models, I know the 1.8t BAM engines bend rods at anything over 240bhp
Did we surprise you?

Honestly you've actually put the 1.8 T on the map god I'd love you to map my golf 🥲🥲🥲🥲
Nah, this stuffs been done before. We just went about it in a fun manner. :)
can i see what happened if you bump up the coil packs to 20v please ?
My guess was 370hp and 360nm, didnt expect it to go so high, i guess my next 1.8t project will be right around 400hp
it will explode on stock motor for sure
you shouldnt go over than 400 NM on stock 1.8t
Love it guys and all you do. I definitely need some swag
Thanks for the love.
No offense if Kyle is your friend but I don’t watch him anymore. I prefer your channel and the way you go about things. Keep it up and thank you.
I wish I had more disposable funds! I would buy more CO merchandise! I’m on the south shore of Lake Ontario 30 mins south of Rochester ,NY . Love the content! Keep it coming bro! My beetle is on a GTX3076R . 1000cc BMS MODIFIED flow injectors, 034 high flow rail SS PTFE LINES ETC.
We appreciate all the support. 👍
Cant wait to see how it holds up on the road now with repeated pulls
Proudly, canadian shops showing there skills, well done !
Thank you very much!
Engine management and fuel system definitely made a difference I believe but the powerband to keep it alive wouldnt be ideal imo
Totally agree
Hopefully if nothing goes wrong I should be able to go big turbo soon on my b6 A4. Hoping for 350awhp with a gtx3071r gen 2. Great video and great info. If you can can you share some data logs? If not it's understandable. But thanks so much for making this
That’s crazy I didn’t expect that
Sick video .. always great content from you guys... with your experience with the 1.8t in these .. what would you say would be the max you can push on a stock one and daily drive it reliably ? I was thinking around 270 hp.
I cover it in the video.
My friend got one with K03's and 270hp without any problem it's his daily
Good power for the dyno on the real world doing pulls it will blow up with those numbers stock
We're looking for proof. So if you have any sheets please forward them on. We know of at least one that's higher but looking for any data.
Well done 👏🏻👏🏻that’s impressive figures.
Made more power than most 1.8T on this channel with built motors 😂
I wonder what the max would be with cheap drop in rods without trashing it…any ideas on figures ?? What’s the plan for this now ?
Only because those are client cars and we care about their longevity. Obviously if they didn't care we'd push them way further. Also Ethanol which we're running this car on isn't available at the pumps here so tuning customers cars on it isn't much of an option.
The fact a vw with 200,000 miles still running let alone a turbo 1.8
Exactly
Super nice! Great proyect and videos! who would say that this engine lasts so long being stock
in denmark we are running 300-320whp no problem on 99octan no wmi, 1,1bar on a gt2871 street car, im building a stock block with a gtx3076 and wmi hope for 440-450ish whp.
On a b7 1.8/2.0tsi Passat do you thing this power is attainable
Ya'll are the real mvp's! Nice work! You happen to be hiring? 😎
How much do you guys charge for tuning? I live in washington state and am building a stroker 2.1 for my jetta. Once she comes out of the paint booth and the motor gets dropped in I would love to have you guys pump it up for me, maybe showcase in a little video!
All depends on the application, and ECU or Software being used.
Good quality vid, great info we need to blow this up. *the video, not the golf*
We appreciate that. 👍👍
You guys should do a stock Afp Vr6 turbo stock intake manifold 🤣 would be cool till about 15-20psi when the manifold blows out 🤣
why no test, u guys need to start doing some testdrive and pulls with the cars especially with this project
It's the middle of winter here.
More than double stock horsepower is crazy
Stock wheel horsepower would be about 160whp, this ended up making right around 600whp. So almost 4xs as much. Lol
Loving the Jetta front on this golf
been working on installing a Maxxecu onto my 2002 Golf its 2.0 but i also have a good 1.8t motor a spare 2.0 and a spare 1.8t head that im interested in putting onto my spare 2.0
wish i could upgrade my rods then big turbo my 1.8t in my Audi a4 b6 but unfortunately its an auto Tiptronic transmission and I've heard they don't go long at high hp and torque
whether the oil pump can handle it?what is engine lubrication?
441 and 345 wheel power/touque is crazy on those chocolate OE rods, I've seen 295 flywheel torque @ lower revs 3ish kill rods, guess the key is pushing the torque higher up the rev range. What did you rev it too?
Only reving to 7k. It's soon going back on the dyno for what is likely it's final spotlight. lol
@@COMotorsports lol get the GoPro ready under the motor 💥
I can’t be the only one wondering this. I have 2 golfs that are 2.0 N/A I know they can’t push much power but do you think they have any potential whatsoever?
One is a stick and one is auto I planned on boosting my stick but it will definitely be a lot cheaper to put a 1.8t in it.
it will just come down to your pocket book and how stubborn you are. 1.8t makes more sense mentally and economically.
Sell and just buy a gti
what's most Hp you can get on stock fuel pump..? also what do you know about doing manual swaps.. i have a manual gti and auto gti, i want the manual in my auto.. less problems with car harness, my only real question is ecu.. i have a apr stage 1 automatic ecu.. and a stock manual ecu.. i would like to use my staged ecu in the manual but ive been told i have to eeprom clear or that something in general has to be done to ecu to make it work with a manual tranny? any info about this would be helpful. also did you work out all the bugs with plug and plaY harness for emu black? didn't seem so plug and pLAY when you were putting it in..
All comes down to torque. And those turbos make lots.
Why does it make so little on that much boost with a gtx35?
Cause I'm tuning it to stay alive. Which is the point.
How are you making that much power on a BAM engine? Or are they different engines to UK models, I know the 1.8t BAM engines bend rods at anything over 240bhp
This is an AWP which is worse lol.
Wow! Didn't expect over 400 😲
Great content guys, Ottawa viewer here.
Looking to start repairing/tuning my 1.8t. Could I ask what software do you recommend?
All depends on the setup, what the vehicles used for and the goals overall. So it varies.
Hell yes ! She is holding up a lot better than I was imagining ! Great work guys thanks for the content 😎 I guess #18tneverlose yet.. hahaha
Appreciate it.
I have a audi a4 b6 cabriolet with 1.8t amb what can i do to get more power from it.
A lot... basically watch any 20v 1.8T video on our channel for inspiration.
Would it be possible to do these same mods on a 1.8 T beetle? Smaller engine bay which is why I am wonderingg
Yep there's plenty of big turbo beetles out there. It's no different, just a bit less room to work.
I wanna put a GT28 and wonder what HP and TQ with stock internal can it be reliable?
With the right time of course.
