    Excellent video. I am about to replace my battery myself and feel a lot better about the process now compared to certain 2 glass-back equipped Samsungs I have done. Especially regarding the "Mild" adhesive statement. More to come after I perform the procedure this weekend.

    Thank you, Repair Universe! Your video gave me the confidence to order a battery and screwdriver kit and give it a shot. I'm not new to electronics, but I've never opened a phone or tablet before. The first pass took me an hour till I was back with 4 screws installed for a test run. At this point, everything worked except the standard and speaker phone speakers. Coincidence?
    I removed the 4 screws and remembered the standard speaker contacts are simply pressed together, so I reassembled the 4 screws PLUS the 2 screws nearest the internal speaker and it worked again.
    I disassembled again and was not able to determine where the speaker phone speaker connection is, so that is the only piece which doesn't work.
    As other mentioned, a surprise was the power/volume buttons falling out. Would have been nice if that were mentioned, but I did not lose them so I got it back together okay. On my 4th assembly (2 more tries for speaker phone speaker tests), my power button's not quite as positive a click as it used to be, but it works, so I'll accept it as completed.

    Thank you for this video! I just changed the battery in my Droid Turbo 2 and it booted right up. I will add a few comments for anyone else wanting to do this...
    1. The Droid Turbo 2 Ballistic Nylon is obviously a little different than the "regular" version. That said, while there were some small differences in the procedure, this video was more than adequate for figuring it out.
    2. When you order your new battery, be sure to also order the BinTek 10 Piece Phone Repair Tool Kit for Motorola...without this kit I would have been dead in the water.
    3. Be gentle with your phone. There is a lot of really sticky adhesive holding everything together. Be prepared for a lot of gentle prying and don't bend any of the parts too much as you do or they will break.
    Good Luck!

      Thank you for the tip! I have a Motorola Droid Turbo 2 and the back of mine is Grey Ballistic Nylon, so I will definitely check out the BinTek 10 Piece Phone Repair Tool Kit. The battery life of this model goes downhill over a couple of years. My phone dies at 20% and I am really tired of it. The battery seams to drain really fast too. Did you fix your Moto OK?

    • @trishacavanaughXx72
      @trishacavanaughXx72 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I was able to fix it. Mine was the same way... Dying at 20%. Plus I would charge it overnight to 100% and it would be down to 50 by the time I got to work. Now, it's like brand new.

    Don't try this unless you have already backed up your phone and decided on the next model that you're prepared to buy. It is nearly impossible to be successful with this in real life.
    One thing not mentioned here is the fact that the 17 tiny screws have some kind of glue on the threads, so NONE of them will come out like you see in the video. You'll have to drill the heads off, which leaves you with unusable holes. The tape on the battery pulls apart easier than it pulls off, even if you pull very slowly and carefully. After the volume and power buttons fall out, you'll likely not be able to get them back in properly, so they won't work any more. The tiny earpiece, instead of coming out, comes apart and ruins the extremely fine wire (thinner than a human hair).
    In short, be prepared for a frustrating exercise that ends with having a non-working phone. A user-replaceable battery is on my short list of necessary features now.

    • @DerickStephan
      @DerickStephan 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine came off pretty easily. There were a couple that were a bit hard, but none of them anywhere close to where I'd say you have to drill them out. That said, I do agree with your point of tempering your expectations. I just plugged my phone back in after doing this, so we'll see in a bit if it works.
      You are right the earpiece didn't come out as in the video. Thankfully, I'm just fixing my phone to be a Pokemon GO device for my kids.

      My screws come out without any problems whatsoever ever! Its,about having the right size torx and preheating the screws much as possible to not damage anything only loosen the locktite put on by the factory but I didn't even have to do that and,no issues! The small screw treads might be shot so I might put small bit of locktite back in to hold the phone long term
