    I bought one of those Badger gadgets years ago for £10 I think it was. ONE OF THE BEST THINGS I'VE BOUGHT IN THE HOBBY 😊 Be careful to turn it off BEFORE you take the spinner out of the paint pot completely else it can get EVERYWHERE 😅😅😅
    Now I use a make-up/nail varnish shaker so I can switch on and get on with another task. I still have the Badger device though ❤

    Just with that third fill, would it not have been good to put the cap back on the bottle and give it a proper shake? I think it may be more efficient than the stirrer at that point and you get the paint out of the cap lid also. Just asking as I note in a couple of these that people leave the paint in the pot lid and I think that may be a waste.

      Thanks a ton Jason Antes! I’ve never used airbrush thinner, but by principle, I’d be cautious to use them. They’re fine for imidiate use, but with those paints we all have laying around that we use once or twice a year, I’d worry that the thing properties (acrylic thinner is essentially windex) it would break down the bond between the actual medium and the pigments.

    I am about to do this myself. I was just going to use a couple drops of airbrush thinner in each pot. The thinner says it doesn't effect the properties of the paint. Do you think this will be fine? I've also got the paint mixing agitator stainless steel balls from the army painter and now Im afraid to use them lol.

    • @ImpendingDuff
      @ImpendingDuff  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      well, first, you have to consider what thinner was intended for... thinning for use promptly. thinning to be used in an airbrush per application basis, so, in theory... no, it wont effect the properties of the paint for that few minutes youre working with it through an airbrush... but, consider that paint sits for months on end and in some cases, a year or more... so i would urge you not to use the thinner.
      as far as the "stainless" steel agitators... let me ask you this. youve spent how much on your paint collection? $100? $300? more? there are PLENTY of instances across all the fb groups of people who trusted "stainless" in their paints, and now have rusted out bearings that they have to replace their paint because of... you have literally ZERO instances of that with glass agitators... is your hard earned money worth that gamble? if the answer is yes, then by all means proceed with the "stainless" steel agitators... or, spend $1.75 for a 50 pack of snail balls from monument hobbies and know 100% your paints will not be getting destroyed. keep in mind, these people whos paint have been destroyed by "Stainless" agitators, have had the ultra fancy grade "stainless"... or so they thought according to who ever they bought them from.
      thanks a ton for watching, and i hope you have great success in your transferring!

    You aren't 'gaining paint'. The paint in the citadel pot would be thicker and would thus need to be thinned more to use it. You're still losing a little usable paint, although the real gain is that in the dropper bottle it's way less likely to go bad after just a few months.

    The stock funnels are too narrow--Look at all that wasted paint. Just cut the bottom off one of those funnels so it fits tightly around the top lip of the new bottle. Vortex-shake the GW paint pot with a couple of 4mm stainless balls and a few drops of the thinner of your choice. Pour, add a couple more drops thinner, shake, pour again. Very little waste that way. I've transferred over 300 GW paints this way. Cheap, Efficient, Clean.

  • @KrogunDK
    @KrogunDK 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good vid.
    No, your not getting MORE paint. Lets be clear... you're just thinning it. There is a bit of paint remaining in the citadel pot, but given the integrity of the seal on those pots I guess it comes out even. I guess if you dont have that stick shaker thingie, one could get by with putting the lid back on and shaking instead.

    • @ImpendingDuff
      @ImpendingDuff  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      KrogunDK thanks for watching the video. if you start out with 12ml and end up with 16-17ml... that’s more. And shaking works if you don’t want to get the mixer, but I found that shaking was leaving more paint behind because I couldn’t get the medium to evenly distribute. It being evenly distributed made the paint a consistency that would allow it to drain from the pot more completely and thus eating less, so I much prefer the added Benefit of using the mixer vs shaking for shaving me more material. There’s no reason you can’t shake them. Over the course of 82 pots, I just found I’d get another 1-2ml mixing vs shaking.
