I think Burrow right now is the underrated QB. Well Mahomes and Herbert are getting all the press. Herbert and Mahomes have superior arm talent and athleticism in comparison to Burrow. Y'all need to build up the team now, because once you pay Herbert, your team will solely rely on him.
Herbert has the better arm, but Burrow understands the game better with a killer mentality. I'm not knocking Herbert at all, but Burrow is the better QB.
@@deezymon That is 100% subjective and you can't find anything quantitative to prove that. Herbert is more talented and the better NFL QB, the metrics all show that.
@@TruthLC well, it's all subjective. Buuuut since you say it can't be proven: Watch the tape, and check the numbers. Herbert ahs 450 more yards, 4 more TDs, and 1 more pick on 152 MORE attempts(with only 77 more completions), and an extra game played. Burrow is PFF's highest rated passer. He has the second best QB rating on the year. He is 6th in passing yards, 1st in yds/attempt, 1st in completion %, 5th in TDs thrown, has the most "big play" (15 yds or more) TDs this year, won arguably the best division in football, and will be playing a home playoff game. All while being the sacked more than any other QB in the league. Not to mention he's roughly a year removed from reconstructive knee surgery after a severe knee injury. Oh! And let's not forget Burrow has thrown for the 4th most yards in a game in NFL history, and is the ONLY QB to EVER throw for 400+ yards, 4+ TDs, and 0 INTs in consecutive games. Herbert throws the ball farther. That does not make him the better QB.
Herbert made throws last year to routes that I think most quarterbacks don't even bother with. Those "clear" routes as you call them, the routes meant to threaten dangerous plays to stretch a defense and make space for higher-percentage throws. But Herbert can actually make those throws because he freakin studies so hard (4.0-gpa-college-biology-major/bowl-game-winning Pac-12 QB? Wtf?!?); he makes every route a true possibility so safeties can't cheat, and he understands the concepts in depth, so he can identify little details on the fly that help him make unusually thoughtful decisions. If he has found the right OC and playmakers, it's going to be insane to watch how good he gets the next 5-7 years. I just hope they can get him a bruising RB and/or physical TE so he doesn't have to rely on his WRs' shaky hands

He has arm strength and a lot of the last 2 drive receptions are plays where the receivers ended up looking at him, sometimes stopped, and he through it through a 3-foot circle over and over again at any range with critical timing that does not allow defenders to jump the ball. That throw he made to Edwards up the sideline where he dropped it in over the defender was immaculate. Classic “throw your guy open” type of throw. The TD pass to Renfrow at the pylon could not have been thrown anymore perfectly. The timing and touch on the throw to Moreau, even though it was a short throw, is what set it up to be such a long gain. He didn’t have the jaw dropping throws over and over again like Herbert did at the end of the game, but he made smart decisions, like throwing the ball away when necessary, hence the 20 for 36. He had no picks, and on the final drive he was clutch when he needed to be.
and it only resulted in a FG. The fact that there was so much time left was the reason to do it. Staley's decisions didn't hurt them as much as the muffed punt and 40 yard DPI that was BS
I don't understand how the arm getting stopped after the ball has left the hand has anything to do with the interception. Once the ball has left, nothing you do impacts its path. If he knew his arm was getting hit and stopped to avoid it, that's a different matter
the follow-through of a pass motion is arguably the most important part of a throw and this is coming from someone who has played QB for 3 yrs in college. When your hand gets hit on the follow-through it makes the ball wobble and it doesn't go as far.

Its kinda sad because as much as I find these late down conversions impressive, Herbert can't win consistently basing his entire arsenal on these. Meanwhile the Niners were able to mount an epic comeback from a 17 point deficit in the second half (vs the Rams) because Shanahan's play calling found ways to move chains constantly on 1st or 2nd downs. When they did get 3rd down situations (and it wasn't often) it was 3rd and 1 and they were already committed to getting past that as well.
@@t4d0W you said it in your argument . Shanahans playcalling . If Herbert had Shanahan he wouldn’t be put in 2nd and 3rd in longs constantly. It’s really sad guys .
There's a lot of factors that go into it. The Raiders D was playing their ass off in a do or die home game with a raucous crowd spurring them on. The right side of the line was blocking no one. They might as well have been playing without a right tackle since he never layed hands on anyone as they went by him.
@@ckobo84 The Raiders D shouldn't be that overlooked. Their defensive front was/still top five in the league in pressures for the most part this season. Against middling O-lines like the Chargers (and Bengals) they are going to do work. You saw Maxx Crosby have his way against Storm Norton whom Staley should have just sat out or something. Its just that Herbert has demonstrated to be amazing against pressure. Still shouldn't be a reason why the Chargers play calling decided to try run Ekeler hard early on when they should have lived and died with Herbert's arm from the start. McDermott/Daboll doubled down on their play calling philosophy when their offense looked like it was sputtering in the last weeks of the season by living and dying on the Josh Allen pass attack and turning him to a power runner. I am sooo glad we drafted him. Chargers admin. Make some big money changes in the off season because we are going to have to pay him dearly when his contract comes up... we better pay him or many teams will!
I think Burrow right now is the underrated QB. Well Mahomes and Herbert are getting all the press. Herbert and Mahomes have superior arm talent and athleticism in comparison to Burrow. Y'all need to build up the team now, because once you pay Herbert, your team will solely rely on him.
Herbert is only 23, I also believe he'll surpass Mahomes soon
Herbert has the better arm, but Burrow understands the game better with a killer mentality. I'm not knocking Herbert at all, but Burrow is the better QB.
@@deezymon That is 100% subjective and you can't find anything quantitative to prove that. Herbert is more talented and the better NFL QB, the metrics all show that.
@@TruthLC well, it's all subjective. Buuuut since you say it can't be proven:
Watch the tape, and check the numbers.
Hernert played his ass off and I’m proud to know I got at least 10+ years of this

That doesn't seem to jive with the law of physics? So the air current of the follow through makes the ball go 10 yards farther?

he needed multiple 4th downs, he failed on most every 3rd down..next season, he will be screwed as teams make adjustments.
Obviously some of the blame is on the kid , but I put most the blame on the OC and head coach for putting him in these positions and treating him like he is their savior for their short comings .
