Chris Simms has been right about pretty much every young QB coming out of college for a while now. He was one of the only football pundits who saw the potential for Mahomes and was telling everyone how great he was going to be before he got to the NFL.
Golf analogies are spot on, power is just a by-product of proper mechanics and timing. Justin Herbert has long arms and excellent timing; he doesn't need to force the ball downfield, he just throws within himself and it goes a mile!

I like herbert a lot, dont get me wrong. But we already know that he is really good when it comes to throwing the ball. The reason he can throw it so far/ hard is because of a good base/ mechanics. A video that just looks at him and his throwing motion really highlight what he is good at. The most important part of the video is when Sims points out his offense and how bad it was.
"Sometimes we let the offense dictate to us what the player is" This sums up 90% of the current obsession with analytics as future telling for QBs. Also sums up why Sooooooooooooo many people called Josh Allen a bust before he hit an NFL field. People like Chris could see there was a gap between the player and the player in THAT offensive situation. Turns out he wasn't near as God Awful as his meaningless stats alluded to.
I personally LOVE Herbert over every QB in this draft. Once he gets the proper coaching, (Oregon's offense was garbage schematically), he'll have a leap like Burrow did. Don't forget Burrow was just ok before they installed the Saints offense. Everybody knows Payton's offense is the most dynamic offense in the NFL. If HERBERT had been at LSU he'd be the top QB in this draft.
Go to JT Sullivan's site, he pointed out he spins the ball for no reason and that's a huge flaw. So there are a few flaws in Herbert's game, but with that I think he is the best QB in this draft and will have a long great NFL career.

Everyone's arm laysback either 160-180 degrees on everythrow except for specific situations and it has 0 effect on how quick you release the ball because it is literally so fast you cannot see it unless you have a camera shooting video at 60-120fps and go back and watch it in super slowmo or are using a camera that takes like 100 photos per second like those action photographers use. you cant force your arm to not layback otherwise you'll throw it 5 feet it isn't close to an issue.

Negatives like poor footwork, poor ball placement, poor throwing mechanics after his first progression or read. Just a few of these red flags, mean Herbert is going to be an erractic thrower in the NFL till he gets properly developed. And if he can't fix them all, he will probably be doomed to a career like Blaine Gabbert or Marcus Mariota or Paxton Lynch or Nathan Peterman.
