I was a Mcdonalds manager and one of the other managers was on the Giants practice squad so during the season he was always off from wed till friday. A lot of Saturday’s and a few sundays. One day my Dm called me and asked me if I could cover monday and tuesdsy which were my days off. I said yea and asked if he got called up to be in a game. He was always talking about how he wanted to play and gave it his all every week. Unfortunately he got hurt pretty bad and was out for months.
I can answer the first question for sure. Yes, they go to home games. I’ve been to home ha,es and noticed practice squad players on the sidelines. This Sunday, I’ll tray to pay attention to the away team sideline. The home team guys I saw, were in hoodies, they do not uniform up.
Yes, to all three. But there's a caveat to when a practice squad player can dress for a game and is limited to the # of times they can dress before being required to be signed onto the active roster. Teams can make as many as two practice squad players available to participate in regular-season games. On game days, NFL teams can increase their 53-man rosters to 55 players by elevating practice squad players. Howevet, only 48 of those players can participate in a game, which means seven must be declared inactive approximately 90 minutes before kickoff. A practice squad player can only be elevated to the roster a maximum of three times. Before being made available for a fourth game they must be added to the active roster.
Just like active roster players, practice squad players are eligible for pension benefits and paid based on the number of credited seasons they participated in the NFL. However, a player is only eligible after they have achieved 3 or more credited seasons. And to achieve a credited season they had been on the active roster or inactive, IR or PUP roster for three or more regular or post-season NFL games.
Great video and interview. I have always been interested in the PS. I thought the expansion of the practice squad when they increased the number of games played was a logical and long overdue move by the NFL….prodded by the players union.
Yes, but MUST be added to the new teams 53-man active roster. A player can join another teams practice squad, but only AFTER being waived or released by the current team.
I found this out this year because the Lions have so many players out they started taking players from other teams. I was all “You can do that?” Never was an issue till this season I guess.
He kneeled to spite our flag and the social justice warriors applauded. Where were they when he got cut? If only he cared as much about his on-field production.
Independent moderate here! He didn't kneel to spite our flag; that's a right wing straw man. He knelt to make a point that the 1st Amendment allows him to make. You don't have to like his point, but it's disingenuous to ascribe meaning he clearly didn't intend.
He found a way to say "If you're on the practice sqaud, you're on the team but you don't play" 15 times.
So the practice squad is kind of like the army reserves?
great comparison lmao
@Jordan Tyler cap they get elevated all the time with my Eagles, we just elevated a.charche and c.elliss , not to mention corey Clements and etc
Kinda better much more pay
Except the constant lingering fear of being cut lol
Well .. they're reserve players...

I didn’t know any of this. Great video.
Do practice squad players compared to active roster players get an equal amount of trim, a greater amount of trim, or a smaller amount of trim?
Can a practice squad member earn an NFL pension, or must he be fully active?
Tŕy chatGTP with that guestion

I wonder if they get called up for a game they get the league minimum pay for that game.

Can a practice squad player be claimed by another team?

It was back in the 80s
