  • We discuss Upper Control Arms, if you need them or not, and the Ironman 4x4 Pro-Forge arm. Since this is a long video, you can go to the different topics below.
    TOPICS:
    0:20 Do I need upper control arms? Why?
    2:01 If a proper 2 inch lift doesn't need an UCA, when do we need it? How does it help?
    05:13 Why do most people not running Ironman 4x4 suspension use UCA?
    06:56 Vibration and UCAs? What did you do on your pickup? What is caster?
    09:35 Some do it for bling, I need it for strength, is Pro-Forge the answer?
    10:15 What is the Pro-Forge advantage?
    15:40 Does it increase droop? Improve sag?
    17:18 My Navara upper arm hits the shock mount, why? How will Pro-Forge help?
    18:36 Do you have Pro-Forge for me?
    19:01 What Pro-Forge fits where?

    Hey after watching this I purchased a set for my MN Triton which is raised just over 2" (55mm) and the arms sorted out the droop issues I was having with the standard arms. Thanks for your honesty in your description of the product, it was very nice to hear in this sell, sell, sell at all cost age we are living in.
    But there was one thing I was a little unsure about & that is when you said that rubber bushes are stronger & better than polyurethane bushes. This is true to a point when comparing vibration, noise & ride, but when it comes to flexing the poly bushes are stronger because they are not bonded to pivot shaft sleeves. And this is where all bonded rubber bushes always fail when compared to polyurethane and therefore rubber bushes are not always stronger.
    Other than for that I agree with everything else you said 100%. So, thanks.

    • @ironman4x4philippines20
      @ironman4x4philippines20  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks so much for the input. Yes the poly is really good as a bearing of sorts, but stiff when it comes to twisting or deforming. That is why we recommend it for leafspring bushes as they do a rotational job. But thanks for the input.
      We approach this industry as a user/hobbyist and wouldn't want to sell you something you don't really need, as the money can be used for more important stuff.

    These are a good idea so you can increase your tire dimensions. But one thing I remember from owning my Toyota 4Runner was that if you intended to ford deeper water there is a need to modify the differential breather tube to prevent water going in. Have the later 4X4's resolved this issue?

    • @ironman4x4philippines20
      @ironman4x4philippines20  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No sir John. Most still run the same style diff breathers. Some Jeeps have factory extended breathers to about hood level. What we usually do is install an Ironman 4x4 diff breather kit so you can route your own breather hoses as high as you want.

    Would I need to to do a body mount chop on a GX460 if I use the Ironman Upper Control Arms combined with the Ironman FCPs (for 2.5" lift with 33" Tires)? Right now I have a 2.5" spacer level kit with stock suspension with my 33" tires and I just had to trim a little. I want to get rid of a 1" spacer that I needed to prevent the tires from rubbing the stock UCA at full compression. Ironman UCAs should give me more room from watching your videos, but I am worried that they will push the tires too far back and create a need for a body mount chop. Please advise/comment if you could.

    I have a 04 Toyota Tundra. It has leveling front kit (2.5-3") with a differential drop. I installed 35" tires (35/12.5R18). After cut and trim, no rubbing. I was able to get it aligned with stock UCA and LCA by adjusting the casters. I do notice that the UCA is very close to the springs. Will an aftermarket UCA and LCA will help me at all?

    • @ironman4x4philippines20
      @ironman4x4philippines20  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A UCA will help, but the distance of spring to UCA is caused by the levelling kit, as it essentially lengthened the overall length of the shocks. It will over-extend your axles and all other components.

    Sir, my unit is a 2015 Mitsubishi Strada (older 4D456 engine model) I have an existing Lovell coil springs together with an MCC Front Bumper (not sure if the coils were designed for a 2 inch lift though they said it is) and I have an Amada Explorer II adjustable front shocks and also an Amada UCA (they told me that the bushings and ball joints are replaceable too, but not sure if they mean replaceable with the OEM bushings and ball joints, please give a comment if you have any knowledge regarding the replaceability). Anyway, I want to make sure if the IRON MAN PRO FORGED UCA, can accommodate cleanly with ample clearance to spare the Lovell Coil Springs and the Amada Explorer II shocks without rubbing. And my final question is, does IRON MAN PH sell replacement bushings and ball joints for the IRON MAN pro-forged UCA. Thank you. 😊

    • @ironman4x4philippines20
      @ironman4x4philippines20  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think it can accomodate the Amada shocks and lovells coils, but I cant be so sure. However, judging from the fact that the coils are Lovells (Australian), they were designed to work with the OEM upper arms, so fitment of any upper arm wont be a problem. As for the bushes and balljoints, we have a few in stock, but they are readily available in any auto supply as there is nothing special about them. The secret to the geometry of ProForge is in the arm design, so special extended balljoints are not needed. Most Asian arms use special joints coz they did not alter the geometry of the arm, instead they just created a good looking arm for bling and added special joints, which you could have added to your stocks arms too. Same effect.

      Asian brands usually use heavy duty Australian springs for light vehicles, so they get over 2 inches lift and suggest the UCA. The bad thing is, their shocks are short, so there is no more sag and ride is horrible. For more info on sag measurement, see the video here:

    • @ironman4x4philippines20
      @ironman4x4philippines20  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes sir. Tire size does not affect the angle of the control arms, and doesnt affect camber and caster. If you are running stock rims on a Toyota Hilux Revo, running 285s on the stock rims will cause the tires to rub the upper arms at full turn, while they will NOT rub on the ProForge arm.

    • @ironman4x4philippines20
      @ironman4x4philippines20  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As for your 2 inch lift, just as long as your rig can be computer aligned and get the factory specs for camber and caster, then essentially you dont need the upper arm.

    • @ironman4x4philippines20
      @ironman4x4philippines20  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kirkplacides7434 yes it would work wih the stock UCA. The negative (-) offset means the tires will be farther from your UCA. So walang clearance problems. Now the new problem is how to fit the 285s with that offset sa 2 inch lift. It simply wont fit unless you cut and reweld the body mounts, plus/or force the suspension to about 2.5 inches. If you push the suspension to 2.5, you will need a UCA. Be careful of what UCA you will buy, as some dont change the geometry much, plus they run special bushings and balljoints, so maintenance is hard.
