The guarantor might have helped the couple. I am saying "Might" I am not saying he helped them for sure. This was an elaborate and we'll planned scam. They knew how the banking system works, the laws and loopholes within the law, how to forge documents etc. It is likely he received help from someone who knows the system. Scammers aren't the smartest people unless the scam is from an organised crime groups. They tend to make mistakes and errors and leave behind multiple trails and footprints. These are people who possess no skills and traits to exchange their knowledge and traits for money/salary. They have no chance of competing in a free and open job market. Yet they have a taste for the high life and hence they resort to scamming people to maintain the luxurious lifestyle. Scammers are not very smart because living beyond one's means (really a simple skill of addition and subtraction with the money you bring home and your expenses) will surely bring doom and trouble in one's life.
They also knew that unless the guarantor came there physically and signed in the dotted lines. Just mentioning a guarantor will not work in a civil or criminal suit.
Nagaland police are hopeless. I have registered a similar case 5-6 years ago at south police station kohima but still to this date, our state police cannot track down the person. He isn't trained by hackers to stay anonymous. And in half decades state police cannot trace him down. Then why should anyone trust our police at all? Who do we go to when our state police are incapable of tracking down an average man with no skills to hide his online and IRL footprints? Certainly when the cops can't do their job in time and properly. Some will be forced to ask for help from people with questionable characters and the unwanted actors. We gave the person a loan with zero percent interest. So the more years and time they waste, the more our money losses its value due to inflation. Can't make the cops take a case seriously unless it touches the crore mark, I guess.
