No joke, Fruits Basket 2019 landed in my top 5 anime of all time, so to see this makes me happy beyond words.
Same, I'm not much of a fan of shojou series, but this is hands down my favorite shojou series and is in my top 5 anime of all time as well. There was so much depth and development that you usually don't get out of this genre or just in general. What made it evrn better "in my opinion", is that some of the characters personalities and complex pasts actually felt somewhat believable. Aside from when most of the cast literally turn into talking animals when they are hugged lol.

Love watching a wholesome love story between a grown man and a middle-schooler. Perfectly heartwarming and not at all weird.
I'm glad someone else said this. Love Fruits Basket but there is no excusing this relationship 😅 those defending it are also a little concerning.

There are so many romances Ive read where I went from "oh that's a bit weird" to "Oh wow" years later. The on going romance between a 10 and a 14 year old where you kinda forget their ages when reading some panels or the way they're drawn (Sugar sugar rune), one where there is a brother -who is in fact an ancestor reborn- marrying his sister (looking at you Vampire Knight) and so many more
Some romances in fruit basket are pretty weird beside that one ngl. Some are extremely wholesome, some aren't 🤷♀️

The only thing that left me unsatisfied with the end of the new reboot series was not showing the sendoff part with everyone all together at the end before Tohru and Kyo leave, like a banquet in itself. That's the only thing I wasn't happy with, I would have had that over the flash to the future scene tbh.

It connects all remaining dots and gives additional context.
With it, the Fruits Basket as a whole is a total masterpiece that needs to be seen by everyone.
Well...not really all the dots, but if they would also animate Kakeru's backstory, since we were left with lots of hints but no resolution, then it'd be complete, I'm hoping for an OVA at least

I think the anime Fruits Basket is a little similar to Ranma 1/2, people turn into animals, they fight martial arts, when they fight they throw themselves into the lake, the house is also similar😂❤
I just saw this and directly went to see the movie, omfg I'm still crying it was soooo good, I really like that they finally told more about Kyoko and Katsuya, I wanted to know more about them since I finished the anime so I'm really happy!!!😄😄

at a buffet, i personally sneak corndogs into the buffet so others can enjoy them. I hide 6 corndogs in my jacket pockets. it then, is a joy for me to see other patrons of the establishment eat my corndogs thinking they were part of the buff
One thing I never liked about Fruits Basket is the idea of choosing to be with who needs you the most rather than who you want to be with. Dangerous thing to teach young girls.
It's a terrible message, along with the idea that it's acceptable for a student to date their much older teacher

It’s the story of how her parents met.
I know the ages aren’t ideal, and I think that’s part of the story itself. Tohru’s mother would’ve wanted her daughter to make much better choices, undoubtedly her father as well. Parents make mistakes and want better for their kids. If they’d had a chance to do it over like most people wish they could do in their own situations, they would.

I’ll just say this... I’ve been numb when it comes to age gaps since my parents have a huge age gap as well... when I learned how young my mom was when she met my dad it freaked me out a bit but to me it always felt like something normal...
My mom was 16 when she met my dad... he was 27... they don’t have a wholesome love story tho... so you know... I look at these kinds of love story like a romanticised version of real thing idk how to explain it
But to me age gap was normal, now I know better but age gaps don’t bother me is that normal?
An age gap of up to 10 years is actually the norm around the world. Couples being so close in age is actually a relatively new phenomenon of the last 20-30 years. That being said, it's best of the younger of the couple is, ya know, legal. Age of consent in Japan in 13 so... and even in the US, many states' age of consent is 16 with parent permission.
@@IceQueen975 Regarding age of consent Japan allows different municipalities like Tokyo have age consent set at 18. Sadly one of the main reasons the age of consent there is often in gray areas has to do with Japan not taking r*pe, molestation and the over fetishism of young girls as seriously as it should and the societal views on discussing such manners on a public format even though a lot of young girls and women are victims of such things there is a lot of accepted victim blaming that happens. Another reason for people to really dig into the history and current events of countries rather than rely on idealistic images..
Age gaps bother me when the other person is young especially if they're under age or greater than 10 years. Some people don't see it when both people are relatively active and young but that gap begins to show later on as you will be in two different stages of life. I've seen couples where the younger partner became a burnt out caretaker and roommate rather than a partner. Or the younger one resenting the older one for retiring long before them and of course the risk of financial abuse as the older one will typically have more stability in their career (this made worse if the younger one is a stay at home parent).
It's concerning due to the large gap of life experiences (this includes having limited experience with adults that you are less likely to see red flags and toxicity), the increase likelihood of abuse that happens and that the older person is looking for someone to mold into their ideal partner by "encouraging" their partner to steer away from finding their own path. At the end of the day, finding a couple that is actually in a healthy relationship with a large age gap is a small percentage as most are marked with grooming, taking advantage of the gap and forced or child marriages. An exception to a situation doesn't make it the absolute outcome.
