Dominique was the cleanest dunker ever. No "thrunks", no ball rattling around inside the rim, etc. He straight punched that shit through the goal like a volleyball spike, with full power and full extension. Fucking beautiful.

Let me just tell y’all . Mjs greatness can’t be denied , but if you were from anywhere in the south in the 80s Dominique was our guy . He got robbed in Chicago and of course was always compared to Michael . He didn’t have the overall game Mike did I’ll admit . But this man was a machine, a true superstar that sadly gets forgotten . Unbelievable athlete that averaged 25 or more for ten straight years only a few have done that . He was durable tough and brought it every night even after a Achilles injury back in the day ,he came back with a vengeance. He deserves so much more credit than what he gets . This man is an all time great . There hasn’t been a player before or since that did what he did at the rim . And don’t hit me with Vince . Closest thing is kemp , but Dominique was more consistent and had more longevity .

    Simply the best dunker ever.
I have been watching the NBA since the '70s, and while there have been plenty of extremely athletic and impressive dunkers, none have really come close to matching 'Nique. The combination of hang-time, vertical, ferocity, and clean finishes was really unique (no pun intended).
Shawn Kemp came close, but Dominique produced 20 scintillating dunks for every one of Kemp's. I grew up in Chicago, and have the greatest respect for Michael, but in terms of in-game dunking, it was really no contest.
Forget about all of the props and gimmicks seen in todays sad dunk contests - 'Nique in action during games, as this video illustrates so well, is yet to be matched, let alone improved on.

They are not more athletic. Today's players are just full in dope. Just watch their body. Old players during old era had natural muscles and body. That's why they could perform in that way. No chemicals in their body...

been tellin cats for ages, this guy is the greatest in game dunker in NBA history....grown man dunks, best dunking in traffic, windmills, double pumps off 2 feet, put backs with either hand, crushing over guys shoulders with the rim rocker, cats cleared out when he went up w/the rock........Nique was unguardable and the only reason he didn't win a title was because the Hawks never had that bonafide #2 scorer...

Couldn't have said it better. I grew up watching Nique in the 80s, but it was still shocking to get some thunderous remainders of just how crazy his dunking was in games. He basically managed to do all of his slam-dunk-contest dunks in games, while in traffic. There will never be another.

And remember, so many of his dunks were on 7 footers. Cause those were the guys that patrolled the paint then. And most were enforcers to boot.
It's no comparison to today's NBA, with it's rules, space and lack of 7 footers.

That's why someone says he was not included in the top 50 players of all time: he showed no respect for so many of the guys who had the power to vote that day (they voted themselves for the most part anyway: see wikipedia). Nique dunked over everybody. Nique also always said what he tought in the interviews and that's another thing many players didn't like at all.

Tom Bekhor The Celtics of the 80's were phenomenal, but they were pushed in the Eastern Conference by the Bucks, 76ers, Pistons and yes, the Hawks, who under Mike Fratello had several 50 win seasons including a 57-25 mark in 86-87 winning the Central Division and only second to the Celtics that year.

In the 1980's in the Eastern Conference there were the 76er's, the Celtics and the Pistons. There was nothing that any other team was doing. The Knicks had talent on their teams, the Hawks had great talent but those three teams owned the East in the 1980's.

Saom Raez wait...did you say Jordan never dunked on people???? Wow!!! I can say Nique was more powerful, but look at his height and build. Jordan was both a graceful and power dunker ...he could do both. Nique couldnt fly...he had an amazing two feet vertical..Jordan had both. Nique had about 4 dunks...Jordan had about 8-10 in his bag. I love Nique, dont get me wrong...he was aggressive. But to say Jordan didnt dunk on people , is blasphemous haha

Hmm I did say CROWD of ppl.. I'm a knicks fan since before jordan one his first championship.. back when the knicks had both Mark Jackson and Rod Strickland.. I've seen many many jordan games.. I know him well.. Yea he has dunked on ppl.. but on 2 or 3 guys the way Nique did? NEVER.. look for tape.. there is enough of it on you tube of jordan dunking.. again yea i've seen him dunk on Ewing for example (after faking out both Oakley AND Starks wiggling around them baseline).. Is Jordan the greatest basket ball player ever?.. In my mind sure.. But NOBODY dunked in traffic the way Wilkens did.. Not Carter, Not Kemp, Not Griffin, Not Harold Minor (aka baby jordan) and not his Airness himself either.. Blasphemy? na.. I know my sports ;)
