This is a race that will go down in Olympic history forever. For Algerian women and God, Hassiba Boulmerka did the job and defeated Lyudmila Rogachova. The race was perfect. Hassiba Boulmerka marked Lyudmila Rogachova's back during the race. So Lyudmila Rogachova did not look very comfortable during the race, because of putting under pressure of Hassiba Boulmerka. Then Hassiba Boulmerka spurts with 200m to go. Lyudmila Rogachova has no strength left and has opened up a gap to Hassiba Boulmerka. Hassiba Boulmerka was the dominant force against Lyudmila Rogachova.

Extremely talented woman. To hit a 3:55 in a final (after all of those hits) was an incredible performance. If she continued her career and support from the people of Algeria (she was attacked by the Muslim clerics for running and for not covering up) She had the capacity to do a 3:50 for the 1500 and who knows for the 5000. She was clearly ahead of her time.
