    I have been meditating in the art of ZEN since the age of 12 years old, I am currently 74. In the first four years I couldn't stop my thoughts from bothering me from reaching a state of bliss but one day I tried this and it has worked all my life. First get a note pad and pen then sit and wait for your mind to kick in and push random thoughts at you. Write them down then ask if there are more and your mind will come up with more, write these down and ask for more. Each time your mind will have a hard time trying to come up with more until it gives up. Remind your mind that everything is written down and now you are taking control of your thoughts and emotions. In a very short time the devil inside of you will give up and be quite. I now sit, walk, stand alone and smile in a state of bliss

      Thank you for describing this practice Raymond! Though I wonder if someone who writes for a living will eventually have less and less to say? Lol. ;)

      Excellent technique Raymond! Another one that I found that works for a short time is to actively “watch or listen” for the next thought that will come up. Surprisingly when you do this no thoughts will come up until you drop your guard and stop watching. I will try your suggestion of asking for more thoughts and writing them down.

    Before I discovered and watched this video, the only thing I do to shutdown my mind is to go to sleep. I love to sleep wherein majority of my day is about sleeping (if I’m not working) to the point that I always overslept. I don’t have major problems in life at all, I just don’t like my mind to be like a river with running water.
    It became addictive for me because I can only get a peaceful mind and be unbothered by outside world by doing it.
    But then I saw this video and I tried it for few minutes and I felt something. A familiar feeling that I know I only feel when I’m sleeping.
    Thank you so much for this realisation and I will practice this new lesson until it become my habit.

      @theseveredheadofjohnthebap7322 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do the same, but fall asleep but not compleatly, there's a point where you feel the sleep coming then everything goes black and you go thru your sleep cycle, see if you can get to a point where you see the sleep feeling coming and hold it and not let the dark take you. You will enter into an intense feeling and you will trick your mind, you are asleep with eyes closed but your mind redraws everything back giving you the last image your eyes saw as if you eyes were open, butvthey are not, they are closed, and stay still, the moment you move or think anything to the contrary of what you see it fades.

    I used to think that everybody could read my thoughts at one time. I was declared mentally ill at the age of 19 because of this. Your life does change when you believe that everyone knows what you are thinking.

    This may sound very odd, however I am new to listening to these stories which I must say, many have even moved me to tears and I believe it is because it is like you are describing the confusions I feel in my own life and like finally I am understood. This story, I am a bit confused, is the messege that we shouldn’t have thoughts?, I would truly love that because mine never seem to stop and lead to fear, anxiety, so much control over my day or week or month ahead and then the thoughts seemed worthless as many times the anxiety with them was uncalled for. I want to make sure I am understanding properly, the goal is to change thought to observation? To end the thoughts entirely? If you could, or anyone, sort of think of ‘awakening for dummies’ and explain that way, so I could better understand I would be forever grateful! I am going to watch again and see if I can clear some of the confusion in the meantime. Bless you all 💕
