    I served at Central Abaco Primary with World Hope Int. We slept in tents filled with water on top of rubble in order to wake up and provide water at the break of dawn. You can find video of the amazing progress at Abaco Primary. In some of those videos you will see a battered little tent camp. No other NGO’s stayed on site...in tents...ready. Please consider volunteering with World Hope International. It’s important to know that when all other NGO’s return to their designated bases, you will not. You will be the first awake and the last asleep but you will provide the most important resource.

      Well done. I’m sure the people of Abaco are extremely grateful for your work. Unfortunately we were only there for a short time and but aided in rebuilding pump houses and building small kitchenettes for future workers. We’ll check out World Hope Int. Thanks again 🙏🏼.

    I can remember driving through South Carolina in the fall of 1990. I stopped for gas and asked, "What the hell happened? Did a tornado hit last night?"
    Reply, "Nah. That's from Hurricane Hugo last September. ......
    Cat 5's are catastrophic. Bahamas can rebuild. I hope the reefs are okay. Damage reefs can take decades to recover from natural disasters. Often they can't recover from man-made disasters.

      Yea the destruction was devastating and lots of life was lost or unaccounted for. The biggest obstacle in their rebuilding is their own government unfortunately. Not allowing outside help with electrical restoration for one. They denied Florida power to come redo their electrical infrastructure.

      Much I like I told my rice farm wife in Thailand....
      The world isn't fair.
      It has never been fair.
      It will never be fair.
      If I could make it fair, I would. But I can't.
      I'll promise to be fair with you if you promise to be fair with me..... She said yes.
      I wish governments were better.

    This is my first time in months looking back at photos from what was my home in Abaco, and it still brings back nightmares, I can honestly say as a Survivor from Hurricane Dorian that God had and will give us the strength to continue through our long journey to rebuild, thank you all for the love and support you have all shown us! 🇧🇸

    i think about the people there every single day! the images and video during the hurricane especially the people stuck in that apartment building haunts my dreams and days. I pray for them often

      PORNSTARLIVESMATTER That’s great that you keep them close to your heart. I’m still in communication with people there and they’re still recovering and obviously this pandemic has not helped. If you’re unable to travel there and help there are plenty of great organizations to donate to or work with locally like Samaritan’s Purse. There are still people displaced or missing there.

    Wow 😳. Such devastation. It’s unfortunate that we as a people hear of disasters but quickly forget about them and the people that are still suffering and trying to start over.

      That’s crazy! Yea it was a slow process already and this pandemic has not helped them at all. Definitely a lot of work to be done there.

      The Dubbman Agreed, it will be a long recovery process and the only way it will happen is if the people continue to move forward and stay positive while working together.

    This storm made Michael seem like a shower. Would you agree with that?

    • @NatureInYourFace
      @NatureInYourFace  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This was the perfect storm for disaster. Not only was it huge but the amount of time it spent over the islands was detrimental and now here we are in hurricane season again. This pandemic has also greatly slowed the relief work.

    • @markpalavosvrahotes5575
      @markpalavosvrahotes5575 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NatureInYourFace Yup. Someday there will be a storm that makes this look like a shower. But where and when nobody knows. Man I cant wait for this pandemic to end.

      Tell me something please. You can answer tomorrow. I am not a professional storm chaser. But I am livid that I missed chasing Michael. I wanted to be in Callaway for the storm. Always dreamed of seeing a storm like that since I was a kid.

    • @NatureInYourFace
      @NatureInYourFace  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve been through multiple hurricanes growing up in Florida. The storms are amazing to witness with the strong winds, oceans turned onto washing machines and rain that lasts days. However once the storm surge comes and everything is flooded and there is no power for an unknown amount of time things become very serious and potentially life threatening. I definitely enjoy watching storms as well, but am not a fan of the suffering caused by them. Being in the eye of a Hurricane is a crazy experience. How calm everything is but knowing havoc will soon start up again.

    • @markpalavosvrahotes5575
      @markpalavosvrahotes5575 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NatureInYourFace I will try to avoid the storm surge. That sounds like the most dangerous.
