@@cali.songbird you need to look at the weight. usually zote flakes is 400g zote bar is 500g so i assume approximately one box of flaked zote 400g is equal to one zote bar of 500g.
In my experience I'll say that I have a He washing machine, I made my homemade laundry detergent and some week ago I noticed some kind of grease in the holes of the plastic around the washer,I think it was the zote soap. In each use I used vinager and after I finish my laundry for the day I run a hot cycle with a lot of vinegar to dissolve, disinfect and clean any soap residue. But not,
To ensure fineness, I also use a strainer to catch the chunks coming out of the boxes. Then, put the clunks into the food processor to get rid them. Once fine, I add any scented oils to mixture in food processor and put on pulse several times so it will blend in evenly when added into batch.
Washing soda has a different ph balance than baking soda, you can make washing soda by baking the baking soda in the oven. Regardless, the baking soda softens the water so it is still great to use!
I have made this recipe before and found it to clump into hard rocks terribly. I keep it in a lock and lock container and away from moisture but how do you avoid this. Mine looked this wonderful when I mixed it too then the next week it was a clumpy mess. Anyone have any ideas how to avoid this?
If you buy two boxes of baking soda and bake one at 400 for an hour...it will cut the cost down some more....that is how washing soda is made.... Also I thought you were using 2 bars of Zote and also the 3 bars of the Fels..... Could you help me please. Thanks.
I usually will use 2 bars of zote (or 4 bars Fels Naptha) however, I only had 1 bar of zote on hand as well as 3 bars fels naptha, so I just used all of them. It was a bit more soap than was needed but not by a lot.
@@TheFrugalBearBearMadeCrafts thanks...just want to be sure...have made the liquid type...but not the powder...so wanting to do it right! Thanks again.
My daughter can’t use commercial laundry soap (meaning tide, arm & hammer, gain etc). And to buy the free and clear is expensive on a 1 income family. So by making my own I’m saving loads of money that I can then put towards buying allergy safe food for my son
Homemade Laundry Detergent 245 loads under $20
Hey there are you still using this as your laundry detergent?
Hello, Do you know how many boxes of Zote flakes I'd need for this recipe? Thanks for the tutorial and tips.
@@cali.songbird each box of Zote soap is equal to 2 bars of Zote soap.
@@cali.songbird Hi a lady that works at walmart said that there are 3 bars of soap in each box

I don't know how I got here but I am impressed.
I use this process often. It's just relaxing to watch. 💕
I made this about three months ago! I love it. My son in law says he saw the difference in his clothes right away.
I enjoyed watching U make this. I made my second batch just this week. Thanks
This is the money saving tips I needed!
I have always wanted to make my own detergent. This seems simple. A lot easier than making handmade hand soap. Thanks for sharing!
I knew it was possible to get laundry detergent at home, but I had never seen a tutorial! Thanks, I love it. I'll try!

But not,
I wouldn't have even tried to do something like this. But I can see how it would save a lot of money. I will have to try it out sometime.
Do you have a video where your zote soap is dry so we can see how you do it?
Thanks for sharing this. I spend a lot on detergent. This will work better for me.
Thank you this is very helpful..however does the Borax clog your washer?
Sorry, no one responded to you, but, No.
Use a food processor put it in after u grated it, I used a food processor and it was really fine, didn't break my food processor
i did break mine lol, but I forgot to add a dry ingredient into the mix when grating it. whoops. I was wanting a new one anyways

Add some terrocata to the top of your soap it absorbs moisture well. This has worked for me.
This is great! how much do you suggest selling it for?
about $8 a pound , but that is going to depend on your location and what the market will pay.
I can watch you do this all day. Do you make it for people and sell it?
This is a great idea! Thanks for sharing xo
How much do u sale ur soap for like the 200 + loads
Takes more like a half a cup. The Fels naptha is the best. Zote will ruin your washer. It ruined a 2 year old washer of mine

What’s the cost for an order
I watch the videos of the diy soap thats liquid and they use a lot less soap and make 10 gallons of liquid have u ever thought of doing liquid ?
You can actually buy the Arm & Hammer 140 Loads for $11. Not sure how much you saving from doing this?
By making my own, I know exactly what is going into it. No commercial additives
I have made this but only using the felsnaptha ...... less then 11$ and lasts about 6 months for a family of 4
And it works beautifully

If you add a cup or so of one of your dry ingredients to your food processor when chopping the soap, it will grind it baby fine with no lumps!
Thank you Phyllis!! I will have to give that a try
Yes pour some of the dry ingredients to the food processor it will grind it really fine alone with the soap my came out fine
