    With Ryan's th-cam.com/users/postUgkxy_pn55PK60wAV3X_C_RoLS_67mNonoCE plan I was like one taken by the hand and led step by step from start to finish. Thank you very much Ryan!

    the author does like to from scratch, shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxD-QRFQz730FJEh4f9BYSf-nkIMIC9hL_ as another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us dont have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we wont be able to practice the full stack project, is still great.

      I know.... I was excited to see what he used to block the heat from the wood framing. Lol. Never came. Let me know if anyone has videos of building same structure with something besides metal frame. Thanks!

    My contractor built a very similar outdoor kitchen, I too was concerned about grill heat on the wood framing. It has not been a problem. We used granite contertops, an inexpensive , common variety of granite is not much more expensive than concrete countertops. Looks nicer, IMO. I agree with using cedar siding, naturally rot and insect resistant. Another thing to consider. Spend the extra money ( $500 in my case ) to have a natural gas line run to your kitchen. I use my grill and side burner A LOT, I would have used 20 propane tanks in a year is my wild guess. Saves a lot of hassle, and I think it is safer. I just shut off the natural gas behind the kitchen when I am done. The only thing I am changing is that in my area(Houston), there is enough rain and moisture that even though my kitchen is totally covered, there are little mildew spots on my cedar siding even though I clear-coated right after the install. I am going to cover up the cedar on the outside with some sort of pre-fab rock siding for the look. Still recommend the cedar though, it is insect and rot resistant due to it's high oil content. Nice video overall, good job , sir.

      The natural gas idea would be a good idea, but we don't have NG service on our property. Thanks a lot!!

      I've seen some builds like this posted to reddit where people note the dangers of a fire hazard installing a grill pressed up to wood. Any danger in this?

    Nice job but I would definitely use Metal framing around the BBQ portion.

    I noticed the outline of your feet you drew on the floor at 1:28, so you could do the cool fingersnap transition. I just love how much effort you invest in this videos.

    If ur worried about the heat from the grill....just install 1 or 2 layers of fire coded dryewall on all 4 sides ,then mud it all up simple fix

    Thanks, Mike. This video inspired me to build an outdoor kitchen. This is the largest project I've ever attempted. I didn't follow your design exactly, but the video provided the underlying fundamentals. My wife is thrilled with the result. Next I will be building the $3 stools to go with it!

    Little advice for anyone building this, use PT(pressure treated) lumber for the bottom plates. I don't see those pieces of PT ply holding up long term.

    Putting the grill in a wood frame? I've always seen and been told you need to use metal framing at least for the grill mount? Any thoughts?

    • @VinslomBardy
      @VinslomBardy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      An insulated jacket is used to shield the cabinet materials from the heat of the grill. You can purchase one that is made specifically for the make and model grill you're planning to install. Of course, you'll need to check your local codes.

    I am a contractor that builds indoor and outdoor kitchens for 40 years. Please do Not follow this build unless you want a fire. The minimum distance for a grill and especially a side burner from anything combustible is 24 inches! Read your local codes they are there for a reason. The partial board in that door will be the first to ignite.
