Thank you! I have heard that from a few ladies I watch that make cards, that they are quilters and so putting a card together is easy for them. I will have to experiment a little more with cards. TFW
More protection. Yes I’m always going back and forth JJ world and my sewing world. Cards were my favorite while scrapbooking with creative memories for 22 years. I had started creating became a consultant and had lots of material so I got in to card creating . Once finding junk journaling and finding my niche I’m all in JJ with added textiles that I’ve been collecting for 23 + years buttons linens laces. No sense looking at them although very pretty much is stored away in my grandmothers Hope chest so here is to beginning to attempting to cutting in to them like my beautiful vintage antique books 📚 🙈 Thank you so much for all of your encouragement always in ALL WAYS
I am really excited about your smash book/glue book ideas. Sounds like something I would love to do. I love your videos and watch any of your projects. I much prefer watching people who use what they have rather than kits. Much more interesting to me.
I started as a card maker when I retired from teaching. I used to make 40 or so cards a month for kid’s birthday bags that we gave out at our food bank. I gravitated towards junk journaling because I appreciate the beauty of old paper and new old paper style products like Tim holtz products. felt that I could be more creative. I love all of the variety that you put into your journals. I’m happily binge watching you and learning new tricks. 🤗🇨🇦🤗 Liz
I love this folio, and it’s definitely something I’m going to try. It’s funny that you brought up card making. I am primarily a card maker, but have dabbled in mixed media, mini albums and assemblage/ 3d projects. I have wanted to try junk journaling, and have always been drawn to a vintage style. I have been saving stuff and watching tons of videos, I just need to jump in. I don’t use the card kits because they don’t fit my style. I use lots of Tim Holtz products, and love dies and tend to gravitate towards using dies rather than stamps. Creating inky backgrounds using Distress Spray Stains and Oxides is my most favorite thing to do. The only advice I would have is, “you do you”. If you like torn edges, do that on your card, if you enjoy collage, do that. Just have fun.
Thank you! Sounds like you enjoy a variety of crafts like I do. I find it hard to stick to one only.... so I go back and forth. Now that I have added cards to the mix, it is extra messy in my crafty space! haha. I do us dies mostly, just can't get into stamps. I will try to just go with the flow and stop measuring cards, haha, that was slowing me down! TFW
I started my crafting journey w card making...it's more of a tedious craft compared to junk journals. It's fun, but I prefer making junk journals... thanks to you. ❤😊☕
I like the card kits because sometimes you want to craft but you don't know what to do so card kits are good because you don't have to think but you can still be creative.
TFS! I started making cards years ago and still do and I have a ton of stamps, so still love to stamp. I also jump from making journals, more than one at a time, acrylic painting, making ephemera and of course card making. I always make a card for the people I work with at the office, for their birthday, they love getting handmade cards. 🇺🇦🇨🇦💙🇺🇦

I’ve been a card maker for years but have also dappled in numerous crafts including scrapbooking & now album making etc, etc. I have collected sooo many papers, stamps, dies, inks a plethora of supplies 😅but am really wanting to start junk journalling, unfortunately so far I just keep getting mesmerised by process videos on how to do them, then frustrated that I haven’t actually started. 🤨My problem is that I’m a perfectionist & don’t know where to start. Hopefully it will happen soon. 🙏🏼😊
That is how I started with junk journals, I had to let go of perfection, haha. Once I started I could not seem to stop. Just go for it, it's for you to enjoy so enjoy! I think that is why I'm having a hard time with card making now, it all seems to be so precise! haha. TFW
Hi Liz, I started with card making when I had to leave work. The videos I used to watch are for selling products although the personalities crafting become quite addictive! Genuinely lovely ppl mostly. I think cardmaking depends on your purpose. For your personal needs or to sell. To sell you hv to know ur market. Ppl can be fussy and if you take orders ppl ask for all sorts of things and then u hv to buy resources. I think that for your own use you do your own thing! You make beautiful things with book papers and vintage things and that would make beautiful cards! You could start a trend :)
Good point, I think for me it would be card making for personal use, to share with friends and family. I think I will give more relaxed card making a try, haha. I just can't get into the measuring right now. TFW :-)
@@Lizthepaperproject If you're talking about matting and layering people use dies these days! Some sets come in increments of about one eighth inch. No effort at all! Good luck 😀
Yes, I'm a card maker! I've been making greeting cards for about 10 years. I really enjoy it an d, yes it can be time consuming. I am just now branching out into mixed media, some painting and ATC's. Thank you! Yes I have really been into card making lately and it's getting ridiculous! haha. I am enjoying the process and they turn out to be really cute projects. Maybe I should start a card swap?? Have a lovely day!
Your folio is really nice and a great way to up-cycle the window envelopes; thank you for sharing your projects! I love card making and have accumulated many stamp sets that I use, as well as designer papers and card stocks. Card kits are good, especially for beginner card makers, and I do subscribe to the monthly kits, although I prefer to create my own design. Other things I love to make are 3D projects--boxes, bags, gift card holders, mini albums, etc.
I'm still learning how to craft but, I like making my own cards. I am making a junk journal and taking my time. I go back and forth on projects and love making the envelopes that you have shown. Thank you for the inspiration.
This filii is so cute! I love it and can't wait to give it a go. As for card kits, it's a good way to get started but I find I don't use all the stuff and feel it's wasteful. I prefer to make my own using dies. I don't do much stamping except for sentiments as my hand writing isn't the best. A homemade card is special and you can design it to suit the activities of the person you are sending it to.
Thank you! I might give a card kit a try, just to see if I can get some more inspiration. I do like to hold things and see them up close. I am enjoying making my own for sure. TFW
Nice ephemera holder. Liz I've been making card stamping since 2000, now I don't like stamping anymore so I make my cards with cut a parts, stickers and ephemera instead of stamping on them I also like to make treat holders that's what caught my intention to your channel. Of course I'll see what you got in store keep crafting what you would like, good luck.
Hi! Love all your journals! Still using your large envelope journal, for beginners. Is my all time favorite, is such a versatile journal. This folio will be a fun one as well. I do make cards now too, but will always fall back to journaling - I can express myself so much more in my journals. Thank you Liz for all your creations and shares - I’m may be silent but still here. 🤗🤗🌸🌷
Thank you so much! Part 2 will be up shortly. :-) I am so happy you are still using that journal from my original tutorial. :-) Take a look at how I am using this project after I finish it. :-)
I just got one of those amazon envelopes today. Had to rescue it under the snow at my front door. They don't seem to knock on your door anymore when you get parcels 😪 I was thinking this would make a great journal cover then this video pops up giving me ideas on how to start one. Your folios are so pretty. TYFS ☺♥
Love this ephemera holder Liz! I have been making cards forever! I have been involved with Stampin Up for the last 10 years now! I love making cards for everyone and every occasion.
Very pretty folio! I used to make cards and am now getting back to it and also discovered “junk” journal making and have gathered many supplies but haven’t really jumped into it. I have always loved stamps and now discovered dies! There is so much more stuff (supplies available) now - where to start? LOL. Love your tutorials!
Thank you so much Dolores. Once you start with a junk journal, you won't be able to stop, haha. With cards I do prefer using my dies and die cuts, and yes there is so much out there, I have to limit myself. I just can't get into stamping on cards, for sentiments, I've made my own printables, lol saves me so much time! TFW
I love your use of junk to make pretty and useful things. There's no reason why you shouldn't make cards in a similar way. I've been making cards for years in lots of different styles. I'd suggest making a panel in whatever style you want and then adhere it to a card base. Stamps are useful but not necessary. You can add any sentiments to the insert inside. Free hand writing, stencils, typeface, stickers, die cuts can all be used instead. I've used collage, paint, ink, markers, stamps, paper napkins, old book pages, stickers and more in my card making. There really are no limits. I hope you enjoy the process when you try it.
Thank you so much! I have been letting go of the measurements and have started more of free-style card making, it is so fun! Thanks for the tips, I will certainly be trying some out! TFW
I love when I receive those perfect sized brown crinkly envelopes from Amazon.. They are just super delicious! And I have several... But, thanks to you, Liz, I now know what I can do w them. Tfs! ❤☕❤
I just found you today, I'm so glad. Sounds like you do paper crafting sort of like I do. Ive made lots of cards in the past, but got tired of giving all my work away. Or keeping it in a box! I still do some cards, but do extra of the die cuts, and use the cut-offs of paper in my junk journals, which are sort of keepsake/diary (without much journaling!) places. I like to make my own, and have done lots of cover styles. And several binding styles. Right now, I've been using gutted book covers, Reader's Digest, and putting eyelets (3) at the top and bottom, and tying elastic through. Then fold papers and slip them through, having 3 signatures. Maybe that's what you are calling a loose binding. If a card comes in the mail, I can add it. If the month is over, and there are extra pages/book too full, etc, then some pages can come out. I don't plan to use a whole book in a month, necessarily, but the last 3 or 4 months I have. I did smashbooks back in the day. The problem with them is that there's no allowance in the ring binding for the addition of materials on the pages. I have 3 new smashbooks, and think I'll probably just take out some pages and use them as scrapbook paper in my other books. Maybe the books could be used with the covers if half the pages were removed. I hate to waste them. (But they aren't the size I like. I could cut them down.) Well, all that is probably more than you wanted to know about me! I have no one locally interested in papercrafting or junk journals. Thanks for "listening!"
Hi! I'm happy you found me! I know what you mean about the smash books, that is why I make my own. haha. I also do not like to waste paper, so I end up repurposing as much as I can. I hope you find some more inspiration on my channel! TFW
You asked if any of us were card makers. I have been making my own greeting cards for 20 years, now. I only became aware and of junk and handmade journals a few years ago. I enjoy both. I have always love vintage- style cards, and I keep my eye open for junk journal-style greeting card ideas. I have not used many card kits. I agree that it can take a long time to design, pull out supplies, and make a card. I always try to make 4 or more of the same or similar card, once I have all the supplies out. Then, I have one to send out and 3 or more made ahead to send out later when I need one.
Oh wow so great that you have been creating greeting cards for a long tie, I am still a novice at it, however I do enjoy it. Vintage style / jj style greeting cards would be so great to see more of, I don't see those often. I do like your tip for making multiples, I just can't seem to do it. For some reason one at a time is as far as I usually go, haha. TFW have a lovely day! :-)
Another awesome project! 🙂. I would say I am primarily a creator...and I do find myself darting between creative projects. I had a lot of creative interests and all kinds of supplies. I do make a lot of cards...I found myself going back to card making because I can complete a project in a small amount of time...whereas it takes me FOREVER to complete a journal. 😉. I also like a well curated (things go together easily) card kit because I can just sit down and create with those supplies only...sometimes I feel like I spend the most time getting things (or looking for them) and putting them away.
Thank you! I agree, think that is why I'm gravitating towards cards so much, they are much faster to make than a journal, haha. I might try a card kit, to get some easy inspiration.
Funny I started my paper journey as a card maker. I would say to stick to your style, making vintage style cards. That's where my muse takes me, it's what I love. Think of the card front as a journal cover or a page and do the same type of things. Do a collage on the front, make a cluster, etc. If you want to add stamping, I'd do that for the sentiment or leave the inside blank and just make note cards. I'd just have fun, you sound as if you're really drawn to them, so give them a go.!! Love your projects TFS * L
Thank you! Great suggestion Leslie, I have been really drawn to card making lately, and was having a bit of a block. I think you make a good point, if I focus on making them my style, they might not feel as restrictive! TFW
I used to make cards when I was working and so had a outlet for selling them. I have a stockpile so I am thinking of repurposing some of them into other projects like journal covers, postcards and tags. Just like our stashes of old Christmas cards. I have bought kits in the past mainly to learn techniques. They are also great for turning into notebooks; ready made covers!
Great idea, kits to learn techniques. I might have to try some. Cards repurposed as postcards, tags and covers, yes please. I think I will try to focus on making some for those uses. TFW
Love this! I also make cards. I'm starting to purchase large stamps that can be used for any occasion/event., since it's easier to fill the card front. I'm going to start making some the same way I might do a journal page. Changing it up!
Thanks for sharing Liz! I love this project & I’m definitely going to try making one. It’s just the inspiration I needed to make something and feel accomplished without getting overwhelmed (like I know I will with a junk journal 😉). Good luck with the card making! That is something I’ve never gotten into. Smashbooks on the other hand…I’ve got quite a few of those! 😍
Thank you for sharing your ideas. I at one time made many cards. However, to me you have to be too perfect. What about a junk card?? Maybe I will need to try it. I am new to your station, and I just love learning your tips and tricks. Thank you so much!
Thank you! Part 2 will be up shortly. :-) I am definitely going to try to make some junky style cards. I may share that process. Happy you are part of my crafty family! TFW

Hi Liz! Love this folio style, I have just received a bunch of junk envelopes and I am now starting to use them, this is right up my alley. Ah yes, a small craft room is what I have, it’s a challenge for storage and where to put things. I do make cards, I usually get together with some ladies once a month to make them, usually 3 or 4 it is fun. I sometimes have to wrap my head around the fact that like you they are not of a junk style. I used to get paper pumpkin from StampinUp but stopped. I realized they were not what I was wanting anymore. Hmm, I’ve always wondered what a smash book was . Yes, show how to put one together I’m very curious 😊 Thanks Liz for sharing this wonderful tut. You are always an inspiration to me. The weather is beautiful out, it’s 18 at the moment so yay! Hope you are well my friend, take care and have a blessed weekend. ❤️🌹🙏
Thank you Brenda. I am happy you were inspired to use up your junk envelopes! I have been finding It challenging to set up my new space, mostly because I want to put things like I had before and I have half the room, haha. I will figure it out, maybe before next year. haha. Oh yes, smash books, I will show a little more on that soon. So happy you also have had great weather, it was so sunny today it felt like a gorgeous spring day! yay! Have a lovely evening my friend, take care!

Thanks so much! Happy you got your hands on one! TFW
Love this project yes I usually work on two projects I make junk cards lol just like we do in our journals
Thank you! Part 2 is now ready! See how I am using it! Junk cards, I like that! TFW
Love this ephemera holder Liz! I have been making cards forever! I have been involved with Stampin Up for the last 10 years now! I love making cards for everyone and every occasion.
Thank you, Part 2 is now ready! See how I am using it. I am really getting obsessed with card making, I just use what I have and am really loving it!
TFW
Lovely so far😍
Thank you! Part 2 will be up shortly. :-)
I love when I receive those perfect sized brown crinkly envelopes from Amazon.. They are just super delicious! And I have several... But, thanks to you, Liz, I now know what I can do w them. Tfs! ❤☕❤
YES, I just love them! I need to get more. haha. Thanks for watching! Part 2 will be up shortly. :-)
I just found you today, I'm so glad. Sounds like you do paper crafting sort of like I do.
Ive made lots of cards in the past, but got tired of giving all my work away. Or keeping it
in a box! I still do some cards, but do extra of the die cuts, and use the cut-offs of paper
in my junk journals, which are sort of keepsake/diary (without much journaling!) places.
I like to make my own, and have done lots of cover styles. And several binding styles. Right
now, I've been using gutted book covers, Reader's Digest, and putting eyelets (3) at the top
and bottom, and tying elastic through. Then fold papers and slip them through, having 3
signatures. Maybe that's what you are calling a loose binding. If a card comes in the mail,
I can add it. If the month is over, and there are extra pages/book too full, etc, then some pages
can come out. I don't plan to use a whole book in a month, necessarily, but the last 3 or 4 months
I have. I did smashbooks back in the day. The problem with them is that there's no allowance
in the ring binding for the addition of materials on the pages. I have 3 new smashbooks, and
think I'll probably just take out some pages and use them as scrapbook paper in my other
books. Maybe the books could be used with the covers if half the pages were removed. I hate
to waste them. (But they aren't the size I like. I could cut them down.)
Well, all that is probably more than you wanted to know about me! I have no one locally
interested in papercrafting or junk journals. Thanks for "listening!"
Hi! I'm happy you found me! I know what you mean about the smash books, that is why I make my own. haha. I also do not like to waste paper, so I end up repurposing as much as I can. I hope you find some more inspiration on my channel! TFW
Looking good!
Thanks! Part 2 is now ready! See how I am using it.
Love it! xxx
Hi Tracie! Thank you!
Love this.. I am so making it 👍🏻
Thank you! Part 2 is now ready! See how I am using it. TFW
Thank you! I enjoy making cards, but I am still new at it. lol TFW
Yes!
:-)
yes i love this!!
Thank you!
Thank you! This certainly is a quick project to make. See what I did with it in part 2! TFW
TFW
Loved watching your video but will probably not make as I am too busy with making full journals right now. Card making is not interesting for me but glad you are enjoying it!!
Thank you!
Good morning Liz. This is something I would like to try to make. I have lots of envelopes and packaging. Your turned out beautifully. I do make cards as well Liz and have done so for about 25 years. I like a variety of crafts, so I want to do it all...lol. Take care. Hugs.
Thank you! You must be so experience at making cards! wow! I like you, want to do it all, just need to find the time. haha. TFW btw part 2 of this video is up!
Hi Liz I wanted to tell you that I am making this project ass you make this. I started out making cards . Journal making is a lot more fun
Happy you were inspired to create. Part 2 will be up shortly. :-) See how I am using this once I finish it.
Hi Liz--who says card making has to be "clean" and "precise" jj vibe tear and glue collage style makes for awesome cards--eapecially masculine cards. (Charlene Onit)
Charlene, you are right, I am going to try some jj style cards! TFW
