Iremember when U2 played this on SNL in 2004 and they sounded exactly the same as when they were kids ,I choked up Bono was having fun singing this powerful tune written for his mom-a lovely tribute.
Always inspiring to see a band playing in a country other than their own and watching the reactions of the crowd, seeing they know all the lyrics, etc.
@CastletoKarma Absolutely and this is what U2 needs to do again - even though they are tired - One last album of sincere teenage energy is what is needed - and then I'll let them go after all - they deserve their pipes and slippers at this stage
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was in a trance of thrashing around with my eyes shut and completely without realizing it I had turned the volume up to ten. The volume hitting the end stop was what snapped me out.
@freydey nah..best was when they played Saturday Night Live - they played at the end of the show and the cast on the side stage looked GENUINELY excited to see them. Bono goes in to the crowd and starts lapdancing one member of the audience. Go watch and see - incredible energy from band, crowd, and cast.
Wow! And to think the lads came up this when they were so young. Magic! Side comment: Having 60,000 people screaming at-for-with you must have some effect on you. Hard to keep grounded in reality, I would imagine.
my best regards.."mon ami"...i don't think bono had mistaken..he knows perfectly, how to use and compine words from all around the world,in the right time...in the right song....right straight from their sources to point out something pure from it's place of nativity...so..i think he made it on purpose,..he made it right...besides he is a musician-composer! ciao amigo..:-)
Ok, but according to all known 'records' of their development, I Will Follow was not performed until the Boy tour, autumn 1980, and, according to some info, I Will Follow was written about three weeks prior to going into the studio to record the Boy album, and, Out of Control was written by Bono on his 18th birthday, according to Bono, apparently,.....and, that would be 1978, not 1977. In 1977 they were called The Hype, it wasn't until March/April of 1978 that they called themselves U2.
@gicandg71 Lol not quite mate, its the San Siro in Italy which has a seating capacity of around 80,000 but obviously as people are on the pitch it will be a bit more. However i doubt there are 420,000 people on the pitch :)
I love musicians who, after all those years still go all out into their music!
WOXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX!!!!!!🤟
what an addictive riff this is!
The first one I ever learned on guitar.
One of their greatest performances, beyond a doubt. Inspired.
Is there anyone with me here listening to this in 2022. Love these Irish lads!!🇮🇪
love Bono's poise and presence in this performance..Pure showman.
He learned from the best: Bowie, Jagger, Cash, Lynott, Mercury. Bono said he became a proper singer after he met Sinatra.
The Edge is shredding it, serious energy here.

Bono tiene dominio del escenario , él está en llamas! El Edge es patear culo también.
