One moment, you're writing 600 words on the supply of Rolex steel sport watches, and the next you find yourself standing in the kitchen of one Brooke Shields, preparing to sit down for a little conversation about - what else - watches. In a gorgeous 19th century townhouse in the heart of New York City's historic (and iconic) West Village, Shields pulled out all the stops, and all the timepieces, for an honest discussion about her career, and how it's mirrored through the watches she's owned and worn.
But why Brooke Shields, and why now? I mean, I don't think we really need a reason to talk to her, but of course, we had one. She recently founded her first entrepreneurial venture called Beginning is Now - a lifestyle brand aimed at promoting and showcasing women starting a new chapter in their lives. In addition, she has a new movie hitting Netflix called A Castle for Christmas. So before you chill too hard in front of the television this holiday season, sit back, relax, and enjoy this episode of Talking Watches.

You can really tell she wears her watches and doesn't baby them. Very cool interview and great to hear Brooke's perspective on watches.
I assume most celebrities don’t baby their watches as they can, more often than not, easily replace them.

that story with the Italian's GMT was epic. highlight of the vid! I even looked him up (Roffredo Gaetani Lovatelli), he's a count and died in a car crash. A boxer, Ferrari dealer who dated Ivana Trump at the time of his passing in Tuscany
It had to be an italian to do such crazy thing to impress a woman :). And that worked ! she remembers him decades after.
The fact that she contacted the brother of the man who gave her the GMT so he can have it back speak volume about her. What a fantastic woman.

This is way better than the Bethenny Frankel Talking watches. I know there are all kinds of watch collectors but Brook Shield seems to be less superficial about her enthusiasm of high horology.
Bethenny is the most annoying person ever to be on Hodinkee

I’m 57yrs old and like many others had a crush on Brooke as a teenager ( we’re about the same age ) now seeing she is a watch enthusiast kinda brings back that old spark! By the way she is still gorgeous .

Brook just got way cooler in my books, I've always admired her appearance but never got into any of her shows or movies, but because I like watches and seen her in my youth and decades later find out she's into watches, she's really cool. [Edit] I really loved her stories about her mom, grandma, and dad and how they were into watches and her progression from the brand, to stainless, to gold, then diamonds that is awesome especially if you're able to do that.
On another note I like the new interviewer, he's pretty cool too, nice one Hodinkee!

Brooke has always been someone with impeccable taste, who knows what she likes and has the ambition to get it. I am so impressed with each of the pieces, the stories behind them (the GMT, wow) and her pairings at the end. Well done. If I had a fav I’d say the 34mm AirKing: the fact that it was a wedding present makes it amazing, and I love the dial color.
