I've been a fan of Zeal & Ardor for a few years but never really liked this song that much. I saw them in Toronto earlier this month and it's now one of my favourites. Watching this band live is something else 🤘
Sam Tallarico this music should be in the game called The Hunt: Showdown. It fits the narrative “watch yourself” fits well because you’re a bounty hunter, along with 11 others, trying to kill zombies and extract the bounty, but at the same time you have other hunters who just want to kill you and take the bounties for themselves.
I'm so here for this. Reminds me of Dax Riggs on the southern/alt country side. On the Black Metal side, merging his vocal style with BM is so refreshing. Like Myrkur, it's a breath of fresh air when BM needed it most. Following these guys for sure.
I'm reading it as the man being the personification of grief, with his threatening nature representing the potential to let oneself be completely absorbed by grief to the point of self-destruction. The act of digging the grave brings the boy closer to acceptance, and planting the grave marker finally allows him to deal with the passing of his dead loved one.
Perhaps. Or it could be interpreted literally, as a short form theatrical horror. Kids are trying to hide the body of a man they killed (why, we don’t know) and they work in a state of frenzy knowing the law is closing in on them (personified by the hangman/sheriff/man in black).
Honestly today was my first time ever hearing of this INCREDIBLE BAND. My wife downloaded several of there songs today via iTunes and I am MIND BLOWN by their Talent. Mad Respect and Props to their Talent.
I remember the few who came out in support of Zeal and Ardor in the beginning and now to see more and more people come out in support something unique is just awesome.
I've just recently found out about these guys. I don't know how i missed them for so long ! Holy shit I think they're my new favorite. I can't believehow they make all of these musical elements work together so well. Who would have thought?!
I love this. I love the soul and this mix!!! The drums sound great. I love the processing done on them and the environment they create with how spacey they are
Just discovered Manuel’s project earlier his morning, and I finished the discography a minute or two ago. Started in reverse though, with this masterpiece first.
I absolutely enjoyed this approach! But of course you can't please everybody. Some people will want more metal influences and others will perhaps prefer this approach. I just hope that this project continues to offer great art that foremost pleases Manuel. As well as me and his fans!
Liking the new direction much much more than previous Z&A, the less black and more heavy metal combines much more smoothly with the sounds they like to combine metal with
So emotional. A much more vibrant mix with alot more going on. Just listened with my partner and we already love it. Devil Is Fine was brilliant it was in my top 10 of last year and it already this will be in 2018s top 10. Cant wait for the whole thing. 🤘🤘
Amazing song, could someone please explain this music video to me? I’ve heard it explained as the man being a personification of grief, and that is a good explanation but why is there another woman’s body laying on the ground as he marks the grave site?
This is the second single of the new album Stranger Fruit, out 8 June 2018. The previous single was released on the channel. I was first called "I", but it is now called "Intro".
These guys are SO good live. I'd argue they're better live than in the studio. Very talented chaps.
Just saw them at Midgardsblot, I would agree wholeheartedly that they're just amazing live!
Going to see them tonight!
I just discovered Zeal & Ardor today. I am extremely impressed at the scope of the music. Little something for everyone.
lol, i feel you. i discovered them on Sunday. mind blown. i have heard the entire discography like 10x plus.
I'm quite proud that Manuel is from my hometown, he speaks my own dialect perfectly, and yet masters this black music chant accent very well.
Uh, his mom is a Black American. It's not an affectation; there's a cultural context for it.
@@darrylehm True, probably he learnt it from her.

just found this band ... they need more ... push hard because you have something we haven't heard and it's excellent
Devil is Fine was great, but this is on another level. fucking amazing album. I would love to hear some sax in the next album
indeed
@Travis Thomas Has he said this and how does he feel about trumpets and fiddles?
this stuff makes me feel like I'm in some occult horror story in the deep south. Love it.

@@Dirtwhistlegristle I was just thinking that
@@Dirtwhistlegristle What's that game like, btw? I was thinking about getting it some day.
i know your comment is a year old but check out Old Gods of Appalachia if that's your jam.
if the devil did make a deal, wouldnt that make quite the twist,

Zeal & Ardor please release all your albums on cassette tape

Tank you, I will use this for my benefit
I love that interpretation. Thank you

This comment caused me love this video.

I really like this band. The vocals are amazing.
Can't wait !!! I love this new Zeal and Ardor sound. Very good evolution, blues still there.
Just when I thought no fresh-sounding music could be made... Amazing.
One of my fav tracks for years now❤

These guys are on a whole nother level.
I love his voice!
This band is light years ahead of metal, of music in general. They evolved 🖤
The idea of Kurt Ballou mixing this makes me smile.
Be did?!
@@inalingthedead yeah, the album was mixed by him.
@@monkehitstring wow!
This music video is incredible. Fantastic song too. Very accessible sound
I can't stop watching this video and I absolutely cannot wait for the new album
I would watch a movie based on this - I love this video. It raises so many questions about what has led up to this, who these people are and so on.
It's a song that reminds me how beautiful music is.
Just discovered these guys tonight. WOW! Love every song I have heard!
I've just recently found out about these guys. I don't know how i missed them for so long !
Holy shit I think they're my new favorite. I can't believehow they make all of these musical elements work together so well.

I will always play this before every Hunt Showdown match.
Do you still play it and between now and then how many funerals did you attend?
With the new album dropping in June I think Zeal & Ardor will be the soundtrack to my summer.
Cool !!!!!!
Don’t ever change! 🤘
Exactly what needed to be done to make this project great: better production. It’s going to be a masterpiece
This is hardly better production. Vocals are mastered WAY too loud. 😐👎🏻 Otherwise it's good new music.
Beautiful. Can't wait for the new album!
As amazing as this song is, I think I'm even more impressed with the acting in the video!
Just make a movie of this already, looks too damn good.
Watzefack... geiler Scheisz! Dank und Liebe gehen raus :)
I love this. I love the soul and this mix!!! The drums sound great. I love the processing done on them and the environment they create with how spacey they are

Claramente en varias partes de la canción dicen: 'Lionel Messi'
Gracias Zeal & Ardor reconociendo al mas grande de todos los tiempos!
ZFG - Just now finding this song, and it has already played at least 10 times on repeat - I raise this glass in appreciation for this one. Well done.

DOPE !
Can't wait to see these guys live in September - I intend on buying all Merch
I might have just found my favorite music blend of all time! Love this!!!!
This is exactly what rock needs, its heavy as fuck, its deep, dead serios, concept based, highly enganging and it just invented its own way!
Wow. Great song and great video.
Im obsessed
Caralho chega logo junho! Manuel, you're a genius.
