2:40 if you're wondering how Toad climbed the vine so quickly, well it's pretty simple although this only works on emulator. All you have to do is hold down+up at the same time.
the TAS does this twice, in 1-1 and 1-2, in 1-1 this is done so that a pow block can be stuck in Toad's head, this has the same effect as Toad carrying the object except he can now take it to other rooms, the same applies for 1-2, the TAS enters subcon to get the vegetable stuck in Toad's head, once he exits subcon he can go to Birdo's room with the vegetable, he then uses the vegetable to kill Birdo almost instantly
I'm pretty familiar with the RTA speedrun, but what's up with those zips in 6-3/7-1? EDIT: Just looked it up. Requires simultaneous press of Up, Down, Left and Right so definitely TAS-only.

@@thebishopoldchannel76 This is a reskin of Doki Doki Panic, in that game you could only choose 1 character per world, that was changed when this game was reskined. The same thing is also done in Super Mario 3D World
He has the least jumping power. But since he has lifting power, the height he can jump and the speed he can run does not change even if he is carrying an item ;P

Very old technique, but it require up+down inputs, which is why it is not used in real time runs.
@@TompaA altered controllers can do it, but yes in order to claim a world record it must be unaltered.

How do you midair jump?
If you jump right before you would be hit by an enemy then the game will let you jump again. This is most easily done as Luigi.

Why exactly can you change char mid game again
Luigi is the character that jump the longest and highest which makes you jump through some levels.
Toad ability is to lift super fast items and throw.
