He collected the coin while yoshi’s tongue was on it causing him to grab the orb and then clipped into the block and die. This orb would allow iggy’s castle to be finished quickly. If he did the exact same trick on yoshi’s island 2 the credits would end early
Why is the orb glitch allowed alongside glitched exits in all of the first 3 levels in the run, but not cloud glitch? It just seems all too confusing as to what is and isn't allowed in this TAS.
That's a decent question, which was briefly addressed in the submission text: "The SMW speedrun community uses a glitch known as the cloud glitch, which allows beating Bowser much faster. However, that particular glitch is prohibited in this category because the manipulations required to resume gameplay after getting the cloud are considered arbitrary code execution. The orb glitch, although looks similar, happens entirely inside the game's ROM and is thus allowed." In short, the execution pointer jumps to Open Bus in the cloud glitch, which allows you to do pretty much whatever you want. The orb glitch, in contrast, is fully deterministic and restrained to the ROM.
Wait, I don't get it. My record is 5:52 and the tas is still minutes longer than mine? I didn't do any glitches, just shortcuts. How do I enter my video into the records? It's on VHS though from back when I was 16-17 in the early 90s and I can still do it under six minutes (I played on my SNES a few days ago just for fun to show my friends) and they kept pushing me to go on the record holders and do it live on AGDQ which I checked and saw it's for charity which is very cool. How do I go about doing this? I would love to help raise money for charity if that's still a good time I have? I don't care about being the best, I've won enough awards when I was younger and still have them, but charity is what really matters if it helps others in need.
