“It takes years of trial and error to become an amateur gardener…” Oh, how I appreciate hearing your uncle’s quote! It’s a gentle nudge to keep me gardening. The September tour was flush with poetry and beauty. Thank you!❤
I never tire of seeing your beautiful garden. I love the Peacock Orchids. I haven't had many bees in my own garden this year. Not sure if it's down to the strange weather.
Thank you so much, it is always lovely to have you on the garden tours with us. I think the ground nesting bees were really affected by the wet start to the year and the wet summer limited all bees’ food resources. Although we have quite a few bee species visiting the garden, the common carder bees, who usually nest under our paving slabs, have been notably absent and are much missed. Let’s hope next year is more favourable and filling our gardens with busy, buzzing life as well as flowers.
Ahhhhh…exactly what I have been waiting for! Your videos are always eye candy and soul food for me. I thought you were such an adventurer to go out at night as I am wary of what might surprise me; and then!! There it was: the jump and squeal!! I’m so happy you left that bit in. I don’t think I care so much for the crickets in my backyard. They are almost black in color and I get so many that sometimes I find them in the house! Thank you for sharing the beauty of your garden.
Thank you so much for sharing your appreciation of our tour and garden, so happy you enjoyed the nighttime surprise. Your crickets’ appearance does sound very different to ours and rather bold inviting themselves in!
Well, I just added the gladiolus in my wish list for next year. I will try growing it both in Germany and Crete and see where it does better. Thanks for the highlight!!
We would love to hear how your gladiolus compare, I've been wondering if their lovely scent is more powerful in a hotter location. I'm sure they will be a charming addition in both gardens. Sending our best wishes.
I also invested in an eryngium this year, it did well but has gone over already. The rest of the garden is looking a bit shabby this year because the surrounding trees have grown so large the plants are sprawling to try to reach the sunlight. I may have to do a major overhaul next spring - your videos will be good inspiration, thank you.
Hi there and thank you. I hope you found your new eryngium a forever planting place. I decided to relocate ours into a solo pot this weekend. it had already created a considerably bigger rootball that when planted, so I felt rather mean moving it from its happy place! Your spring garden plans sound energetic but worth the work to let the sunlight in.

Just loved it all, and the clip of falling snow leaves me excited to see my own boxwood knot garden come to fruition!
Thank you so much, the image of your knot garden design with a dusting of snow sounds pretty as a Christmas card.
