I think with that, you'd probably just find the weak link in the drive train, most likely being the clutch(in a normal car). If it bites, then either the reverse gear is now smooth, or driveshaft, diff, or axles go boom. If it bites and nothing on the trans side breaks; either the flywheel shears off of the crank, the crank snaps, or some amount of connecting rods implode.

@@hotsauce2446 Very short and simple there is direct mechanical link between engine and wheels in manual transmission . If you stop without pressing the clutch engine will stall because wheels stop so engine stops too. If you then push it it will start bacause wheels spin the engine. I tried it once, it only works if the car is stationary. There is some sort of mechanism/electronic device that prevents it from shifting while moving forward, even though you can move the shift lever to "R". But if you could disable it so the transmission would attempt to shift, it would be no different than what happened in the video with a manual transmission. As a matter of fact it would probably be less destructive to the transmission than it would the engine because automatic transmissions have a separate hydraulic clutch for each gear. The transmission shifts by engaging the clutch for the desired gear, so the reverse gear is spinning along with the shaft, it simply isn't engaged.
If the gear went in without grinding, it should mean there was no damage (as long as you didn't release the clutch, but that would hurt the clutch, not the transmission
Great video! And I loved the comments, too. My only question is, at 8:16 it was mentioned that if you are "clumsy" and accidentally attempt to shift into reverse, let's say while doing 35 mph (using clutch), "things could go wrong".
Tried mine but nothing happens it still drives forward till i stop the car then itll go backwards 😂
I skipped firs half of the video to jump into action. But guess what... I missed it. Very straight forward. Big kudos to the content creator...
Nic B JUIST!!
#mastermilo82 Nu van 140 km/h naar de eerste of 2de versnelling!!!
Wat gebeurt er dan???

I can't understand a f*cking Word you're saying but you guys are amazing. Love it
English subtitles on all the videos on the main channel (this one).
Werkplaatsvlog is very interesting aswell however no engish subtitles.
Bro went straight to the point and explained perfectly, good job
i shifted by accident to backwards when I was driving forward around 15 km/h. Can that hurt my car?
The Rolling Bear it hurts it when you do it often, not a big problem when doing it once.
If the gear went in without grinding, it should mean there was no damage (as long as you didn't release the clutch, but that would hurt the clutch, not the transmission
Yeah, it’s bad for the car if you’re going less than 70mph
Can we see this with an automatic?
Doogie Rick I feel like it would be the same result tbh
I don’t think an auto will let you go into reverse while driving forward
Jeremy Clarkson I think it’ll try to go into reverse, but just grind
Shitty automatic will wait until wheel speed of 0mph , then will change into reverse gear.
Today's automatics won't engage in reverse if you're already going forwards at speed, but for older autos I don't know
Man I don’t speak Dutch but I love this channel lol.
I can understand almost every word even though I only speak German :D
did you watch it without subtitles XD?
Ja ich auch.../yes i too...
Ich verstehe nichts... Ich sprechen nur wenig Deutsche. Welche sprechen Ist das?
WAIT! But you just told us this in English
I wanted to learn Dutch and I liked cars. This channel is my heaven.
*When your so faded and realize it's not even in English, 3 minutes in*
Great video! And I loved the comments, too. My only question is, at 8:16 it was mentioned that if you are "clumsy" and accidentally attempt to shift into reverse, let's say while doing 35 mph (using clutch), "things could go wrong". Please guys mention if it could be serious if you hear that noise (and correct your shifting). Cheers!
Should have just money shifted from 100kmh to 1st gear.
He did that too in another video
@stephen john gray he did it
I'm so glad he went straight to the point and didn't wait 3 quarters of the way through the video to do it
Iv'e always wondered this! thanks for the video!!

Wajoo deze trekt echt veel volk. Nog Nederlanders hier???
Ja veel Engelsen
Ik ben half nederlands. 😅
Hier
Omdat het Engelse ondertiteling heeft
Hier is een Afrikaanse ou.
3:47 dat sound.. like dropping a pan.
Heyyyyy, dit is echt top man!
2:49 xD
