    Playing with Stevie must have been an all-time career highlight for Questlove. After all, he's a one-man encyclopedia on black music.

    The fact that he retained not only enough of his tonal quality, but his range as well, to pull this performance off is nothing short of amazing.

    No words for Stevie. None. Nothing you can even say. Questlove’s tom mics are crisp as all get out. That roll is ridiculously bouncy.

    Those vocal chords are a gift from nature. Of course this man honed his craft with the Funk Brothers but man if you notice how strong his neck and throat looks. The fibre and muscle on his neck proves that he has something special in his anatomy.

    Finally, this live version proves the female is not saying "All Day Sucker Cup for your love" those written lyrics always seemed off to me. Cup made no sense to me.

    • @slpurdy1159
      @slpurdy1159 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What do you hear her saying? I always thought it was a strange lyric but it is repeated no less than 26 times (all day sucker-cup for your love) in the songbook included with the album. Back in the day I used to sing it as all day sucker, up for your love. Who knows…maybe sucker-cup was slang. But I will give you this…it would not be the only time a song’s lyric was transposed incorrectly in the liner notes - but 26 times would probably be an all-time high. 🤷🏾‍♂️

    • @MGillDesign
      @MGillDesign 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@slpurdy1159 lol. I always thought she was saying "All Day Sucker...but for your love.." But, yes 26 is a lot (for a mistake). Stevie could solve all this. They need to ask him. lol. We've been wondering for 40+ years.

      Being a professional musician means that you're able to play your instrument in multiple different settings too. Playing multiple genres is a great start to show that. But the roots literally create improv songs off the fly in different genres.
      What one aspect makes them less than average?
