    Great video!! We had a problem with the key getting stuck . Be we just took it all apart and started again. Works great now

    I just bought this lock! It’s so pretty but for some reason the inside lock/unlock doesn’t work unless the physical key is inserted. Any ideas how to fix this?!

      Hi Lindsay - Here to help! To fix this, please open the door and place the latch in the locked position. Remove the keys from the cylinder. Unscrew and remove the interior assembly of the lock. Reattach the interior assembly ensuring that the flat blade is in the vertical position as shown on page 13. Next, complete the Rehanding process on page 19:

      I had the same problem but the key wouldn’t come out. After taking it apart several time and the lock still not working correctly, I put the rekey tool in to release the key and everything worked fine. This was all due to not removing the key before programming. I bet this is very common.

    I just bought this lock and at 4:11 the mounting screws that came with the product doesn’t screw into the mounting bracket…… annoyed now I gotta go return this because I was close to completing the installation. Horrible.

      Hi @cesarvasquez1972 - The SmartCode 260 is a stand-alone lock that cannot be used by an app on your smartphone. Please see our Halo and Aura locks, which can be programmed via the Kwikset App:

    My keypad doesn’t flash green nor does it make any sound while trying to set it up. Still couldn’t set a unlock code as well.

      Hi Archie - Happy to help! Please try the following steps to get your 260 in working order:
      1. Open the door and place the latch in the locked position.
      2. Unscrew and remove the interior assembly of the lock, ensuring the cable is securely attached and the flat blade is in the vertical position.
      3. Reattach the interior assembly with the latch still locked.
      4. Replace the batteries, Factory Reset, and perform the Door Rehanding step on page 19:

    Just installed mine and it doesn’t read any keys being pushed when I am trying to set my first user code (after pressing the programming button)-any idea why it doesn’t do anything?
    I already did the factory reset successfully multiple times

      Hi and here to help! To get your 260 in working order, please follow these steps:
      1. Check to be sure that the wire and cable are completely connected and not pinched.
      2. Unplug them, leave them unplugged for 10 seconds, and then plug in again.
      3. Ensure to tuck carefully at the bottom of the lock as noted in the installation guide.

      @@kwikset unfortunately that doesn't work either. The "lock" button just beeps 3 times. There's got to be a better product that's more "user friendly" from Kwikset. I like your products, just not so much this one.

      @@kwikset We are having the exact same problem with our lock. First User Code was fine but the lock won't let us add a second code. Very frustrating!! Might have to return it.

    I installed and set up a code but it doesn’t fully lock or unlock when I use it. Any suggestions on how I should fix this?

      Hi and here to help! To fix this, please try the following steps:
      1. Check the door alignment and ensure the strike pocket on your door frame is at least 1" deep.
      2. Replace the batteries with name-brand alkaline and not lithium or rechargeable batteries.
      3. Test the lock with the door open, then test the lock with the door closed and make adjustments if needed.

      Hi Patrick - All Kwikset hardware can be easily installed using a standard screwdriver. Electronic drills are not required and are not recommended, as standard tools allow more control and prevent over-tightening of screws. Thanks ~ Kwikset Social
