- Using the cheapest best lens for pov street photography in london. The 50mm 1.8 is arguable the very best beginner photography lens, it's great for portrait photography, product photography and street photography!

The 50mm 1.8, also known as the nifty fifty is a classic street photography lens. It's definitely the cheapest best lens for photography. Just because the 50mm is cheap, doesn't mean it isn't amazing. This lens is almost every beginner photographers first prime lens and I highly recommend using it for street photography.
#povphotography #streetphotography #photographylens
This gives me hope for my 50mm 1.8 that I just purchased!!
YESSS! You’ll love it
@@MikeChudley ur camera in the manual?
PSA to the people looking to buy this lens, I had it here is my experience.
Pros:
Really quick to focus and very versatile.
Extremely good at handling flaring
Better sharpness and better everything than the 50mm 1.4
Cons:
Really bad ghosting (double image) and softness at F1.8 (eliminated at F2.2+)
If you buy this lens you will mostly use it at 2.2/2.8 because of the negative impact 1.8 has on the lens.
The only time you'd want to go to 1.8 is if you really have to. Kind of like 3200/6400 ISO on a T7I. Its there but its almost unusable.
Considering that I was using it at 2.2/2.8 anyway, I sold it and got a second hand 60mm 2.8 Macro. Which was basically the price a 50mm 1.8 STM new.
I highly recommended going for a 60mm Macro for portraits and close ups. There is no other lens more versatile under $2000.
Either that or save up for a used 80mm F1.8 or a second hand 50mm F1.4. Yes the 50mm 1.8 STM is better in 90% of areas compared to the 50mm 1.4 USM but, if its low light performance you are looking for that's usable at f1.4/f1.8 get a used 50mm f1.4.
I do love the nifty fifty it has something about it,
However, I’m a fan of vintage lenses the Konica hexagon 1.4 is a beautiful lens, the Pentax Takumar 50 MM mic images not as sharp…
But then I went a little bonkers and got a Leica Cl with a 23mm…
The things we do..
This lens is most sharp at 5.6 !!!!!!!!!
I love your POV vids with the 50mm. Just recently purchased a T7 with the nifty fifty and it’s been a great experience learning how to shoot
This is literally the best video for me idk what other people say but this really is idk maybe it was just the vibe👍🏻
Ahh appreciate that, thanks for all the support man!
Getting addicted to these Mike ;) Quality stuff sir!
Ayyy good stuff, thanks for watching mate
I just ordered mine after seeing 5 of the pictures you took
Thanks!
Making me wanna go shoot with my 50mm tomorrow. Great video! 🔥
Haha great stuff
This is a fantastic way to review a lens. Great stuff!
Another great POV mate. Had a bit of everything in this.
Thanks Dan, appreciate it! - not too many car photos no? haha
everyone should have this. worth more than its cost.
just got this lens yesterday, havnt had a chance to take outside yet, but im super excited for it! thanks for all the tips! I've learned a lot from your videos! keep it up!!
Love this Mike to many car's for me the Guy in the white coat was amazing so cool keep up the great work until the next #stay safe 👍
Thanks for watching Ian, I always appreciate the comments - which guy in white coat?
I learned from this! I have just bought a 70D.
Great shots and awesome POV video!
I buy a month ago a 90D + this lens... Jesus what a killer combo
Sounds like a great combo!
I miss London, used to walk down some of these streets regularly! Nice photos! I just got my RF50 1.8 too!
This was super insightful as I had to make a decision on a 50mm 1.2 for APS-C. Thanks Mike!
Such a cool video, it was absolute pleasure watching it.
My favourite pov yet mike, smashed the photos bro honestly. Would be amazing to shoot with you sometime when I visit London 👌🏻
Nice work bro. Gonna get one fasho now
First video of you, I have seen... hell yeah.. I 'm going out side, to shoot with the 50 mm 😃 Thank you so much for inspiring!
Ahh brilliant, thanks for watching Karen!
3 minutes in and i think im gonna get this lens. Great video style too
Thank you!
Every London Street photographer I find finds the guy in the outfit by the fountain. I've seen more photographers who capture him than he has. 😂😂
I think if you use the ovf, it is way faster at autofocusing than using the screen because it is a normal DSLR. That's what I've noticed with my 60D
It turns out that a regular mirrorless camera like the M50 will be faster? I just choose a universal camera for myself after 600D and don’t know what to take. 800D or M50
@@stefan_es I have an M6. I find that it is quicker to auto focus by using the shutter button than by tapping the screen. I use the screen to view, move the AF spot to where I need it and then press the shutter button.
I love your videos! :)
Thank you Andrea!
Love this style of teaching street photography! Just got a used full frame DSLR Canon 6Dii and only have the 50mm 1.8 but I'm now inspired to hit the streets of San Francisco to hopefully capture some good images
Amazing video brother, loved all the shots 📸👏🙌
Thank you so much!
50 mm is not bad❤️ I'm going to buy this one..
Amazing, I am very proud of my 50 mm ☺️ I wanna following your steps ... Wishes from india 🇮🇳
Can’t believe you met opticalwander
Was a great video!!
sweeeet - love the pics 👌👊Were those photos edited or raw?? nice work
3:08 is that your knee breaking 😂
😂😂😂 literally no idea
Great POV!! Some really Great Shots! Poor R8 Guy 😂
Thanks man! I knowww you’d be gutted haha
Getting the lens on Friday buzzing 👌
Hope you like it!
@@MikeChudley thank you, it's great so far! I see why it's a top lens for everyone
Nice video man, so underrated
Appreciate it!
Nice little niffty 50. Using at the moment. Was that Mark Newton from the school of photography having coffee you photographed ?
Thank you so much🙌🙌, Amazing video🔥
You just earned a subscription
haha fantastic comment, thanks!
Your hair is so smart
surely my fav pov Mike! It's also my current setup and I friggin love it ! Great video mate 👍
I use the Youngnou 50mm on my Nikon D5500
It work as a 80mm in canon apsc cauz it had 1.6x crop factor & 75mm in nikon apsc of 1.5x crop factor
When your tapping the screen and say "focus shit camera" oh dear... I have a 750D with the 50mm 1.8 and know that feeling all too well. Maybe one day I'll get the R6 with an 85mm that I want 😂
😂😂
Hello. Thank you for video. :)
newbie here, how should we decide how much shutter speed we should use for our shots?
Lol, very simple. Very simple 😂 simple for you. Hope it get that simple for me too sometime. Great POV
Your content is amazing!
Glad you think so!
DAMN! That grill
I have the same exact setup 80D + 50mm 1.8. 😆
I want to buy this lens, but I am concerned that its too cropped in with a asp c sensor. Do you think that it is a good everyday carry on a crop sensor camera?
Great video!
Best video
Nice video, love it!
I got the 80d and the 50mm too, it is a beast setup!
And it would be very cool if you have presets for other programms like Luminar AI which I use :)
I should look into that for sure
hi which mode are you shooting in, thanks
Hope this encourages everyone that it's not the camera but how you use it!
Ahh thanks man! I hope so
sold my 50mm because it was too tight for apsc, now got an R6 and regret that decision, maybe ill just go for a f1.4
Can you do a POV with that lens on the m50?
Dammm
Please bro what device do you make use of for the video recording
Hello Mike... hope you are doing great. I'm from India 🇮🇳 and love Streetphotography and for that I'm planning for Canon EOS 200D MARK II but bit confused, help me out which lens would be ideal for that purpose ???
Is the 50mm macro 2.5 good ??
How do you get zoom photos with this lense because it doesn’t zoom.
By editing?
I wouldn’t say the 80D + 50mm set up is around £600. I brought the 80D brand new for around £900
What canon is that?
canon 80d
The 50mm in a crop sensor equals to exactly 80mm in a full frame
Go pro on chest battery last for bow many hours?
do you need an adapter with this lens, there are only EF versions, no EF-M
Have a quick question why such a fast shutter speed just curious as want to increase my street photo skills
the faster the shutter speed the better you can capture movement without any blur. I have a street photography guide on my website covering all of this and more available for pre-orders now.
Almost thought you were going to walk away without shooting Morgan
It really doesn't matter the gear you use cause they are just tools that meant to help you
Only 2 things matter the frame and colors in editing
Bro ur camera in the manual?
u mentioned the 50 mm is cropped, can you explain, is the 80d not full frame?
The Canon 80d is APS-C which is cropped. So the 50mm is actually around 70mm, when I use the 50mm on my R6 it's full frame.
@@MikeChudley okay thank you very much, think i’ll look into getting a viltrox speed booster for my m50 then
Capture in .jpeg or raw format 🤔??
Do you shoot AV ?
Why is the canon R6 your main camera? It only has 20 mp
siccc
Sorry maibe this is a dumb question, i am new to photography, the photos you show in the video are edited? Or is the normal result the camera got?
They look edited to me.
why didn't you use the lense with the R6?
Wanted to show off how good it still is with an old setup
@@MikeChudley you proved it nicely! I recently switched from the 70D to the R6, and it's a huge improvement. But the 80D is still a workhorse.
Is it really necessary to use such fast shutter speeds? Like jeez 2500?
What canon is that bro?
I think it 80d bro
Can I have the same results with 70D?
yeaaah they are very similar cameras.
@@MikeChudley thanks for responding but can you tell me if can I use it for clinical dental photography or not and if it not can you please give me a suggestion for another lens and the price not more 150$
Canon 50mm is equivalent to 80mm with 1.6 crop factor
I believe pancake 24/2.8 and 40/2.8 are better...
Hello my friend
Helloooo
Shoot with 35 mm lens or 85 mm lens.
It's becoming the Mike and Opticalwander show. Same content, same photos, same ideas, same locations and now the #.?
80mm on an APS-C body.
Yeah that sounds about right, thanks for watching Mark!
First
It’s too narrow to me
I’m too fast 💨
too quick, we love to see it.
