Just finished reading your book. OH my gosh, I am geeking out. I really enjoyed hearing the history of how each translation came to be. Thanks for a great book!
Many years ago I had a Harper-Collins RSV study bible that I loved and wrote in. I got used to it. The notes were so thorough and helpful. Now I am using a CSB. I love the size and style of the font.
Thanks for your post. When you opened on a KJV bible I couldn't resist mentioning the first bible I purchased before being deployed overseas by the Navy. In June 1963, I visited a bible bookstore in Waukegan, Ill and purchased a Cambridge Pitt Minion bible in the KJV with a Morocco leather cover. That bible travelled with me halfway around the world. It remains in my possession and is still in good condition.
I just got my LSB MacArthur Study Bible- Beautiful!!!!! The maps are everywhere in the Old Testament and placed to correspond to the scripture passages. The charts correspond with the scripture through out the Bible. . The font is easy to read. The notes are at the bottom of the page. There are 7 pages of detail of prophesies fulfilled by Christ. The reference to God in the OT is Yahweh and accurate translation of doulas in the New Testament. This is a great Bible. So well done!!!!!
My favorite ESV is the Omega… I just LOVE the way they laid it out with the two column format. By the way, I read the first three chapters of your book this morning. Loving it so far! Love the conversational style and your sweet spirit that shows throughout as I read it!
Tim, I finished your book over the weekend. I want to re-read it as there was so much detail and history. I have given the book for Christmas presents and recommended it to our Sunday school class. I have enjoyed being a member of your channel, SO INFORMATIVE. Keep up the great work.
Got your book today and read it cover to cover. It is fantastic, and I learned so much about the different Bibles I’ve gotten over the years. Such a treasure trove of information, I will keep this book as a reference as I delve into my different Bible translations. Great job, LOVE the book!
Got your new book today and could not put it down. The content was great but the ease of reading made it a joy to read. Will likely finish it tomorrow. Well done!
Amazing List Tim! Your channel has really opened my mind to the many translations of the bible and I am very excited to pick up your book and study during the holiday season as I continue my journey with Christ. I want to congratulate you on your hard work in regards to releasing the book and look forward to hearing the many others who read the book and find light in the various translations as well as the background stories on them. Because of your channel, Today I will be receiving my first NKJV bible and as someone who was afraid of the text prior, I am very excited to explore and cross reference with the NIV, the ESV and the other great translations we have. I look forward to what the future has for you and look forward to your many great reviews, videos!
Thanks for all the info! Really helps. Not sure I can ever get enough translations of the Bible. Each brings a new happiness May Gods word inspire us all. Shine baby shine
I enjoyed hearing about the Bible that got you into the Bible. I had The NIV Student Study Bible back in the 90s that I carried to youth group for years. It has a special place though the paperback cover is beat up and all. One translation that wasn’t mentioned here is the God News Bible. I remember my dad had one of these with flowing line drawing illustrations throughout. I didn’t read it until years later, but those illustrations had me looking through the Bible and wanting to know about the stories. The Bible that I read all the way through when I came to that place where I wanted to know for myself what the Bible has to say was a New Living Translation. I think the ease of reading was key in getting through that first time for me. I have a Life Application Bible in green hardback that I got my senior year of high school. That doesn’t seem that long ago to me, but I think the NLT text has been updated a couple of times since then. Now I’m entering that stage where Bible text is getting harder to read and I have defaulted to using the Olive Tree app on the iPad at church because I can set the font size. With so many translations and things I like about each one, I continue to debate on which to find a large print version of. I’m looking forward to reading your book (that arrived today!) and continue to enjoy watching the videos like this one where I can see the features of physical Bibles to help inform me on that choice. I still have a couple translations I haven’t read through, so I have some time to think on it. Thank you for sharing the joy you’ve found with the Bible with us. It’s great to have found a community that likes to explore the Bible in the myriad ways it has come to us.
Thanks for all that you do, Tim. Love the channel and the heart that you bring to every single video. Here is a video idea: What is the best one-year read through Bible? It would need to be easy to carry and inviting to read. This may help people get their Bible for the upcoming resolutions to read the Bible in a year.
Hi Tim, I really enjoyed this video. These are great Bibles and I really liked the NASB, the NIV study Bible, and the LSB. They will soon be on my list for future purchasing. Wanted to tell you I just got your book "Bible Translations for Everyone" , I"m so excited to read this book. Thank you Tim for everything you do to bless people and to help us all pick a great Bible that would draw us to God's beautiful Word. I"m so happy. Blessings to you and Becca.
I recently picked up a copy of the Zondervan NIV Biblical Theology Study Bible. That thing is great. I will say that I understand Bible rebinds now. The binding on this study bible sucks, but the content is phenomenal!
Great video! I just picked up the Ancient Faith CSB and the NET Full notes edition! I picked up the NET one based on your recommendation and so far I AM loving it!!!!
I agree way more than I thought I would. My favorite KJV is the blue goatskin concord by Cambridge. My top NRSV is the Allan. And the ESV heritage is not only my favorite ESV but probably the the best design of any Bible. As far as something to write in, I love the KJV note takers Bible by KJV store. It beats all other wide margin Bible's that I've tried. It's the only other KJV I use.
My first purchased Bible was a Cambridge KJV Wide Margin bound with black Morocco leather. I purchased it in 1973 with a college graduation gift from my grandmother. I paid $100. That would be $780 today. It was probably the most expensive purchases I had ever made at the time. I was 19. I still use it when I want a physical Bible. They last and look more beautiful every year.
@@timwildsmith I am curious... in regards to the Humble Lamb NKJV bible you stated as your favorite NKJV rendition...why did you not say One thing about the shepherd inlay...imprinted in the gilding?... I received a box from Amazon today. I was upset because I thought my book didn't arrive. Amazon combined the book with something else I had ordered. Whew! I didn't want to wait another day! I already put the bookplate in the book.☺ The cover is quite nice! I can't wait to read it. Thank you so much for sharing your book with us!
Glad you tossed in the LSB, its become my daily driver...ICR is fav, kinda like a Judge. ESV...not unlike the Heritage but bigger I prefer the Preacher in paragraph but carry the large print thinline (no reference) to chur h. NKJV its the single classic reference all the way. CSB I dig the single column paragraph of the Pastor's. Cool call on the NIV study...I had my 84 rebound by Scriptura. Actually really digging the NJV as well, the calfskin by RJB is dreamy with an ASV JPS17 based OT and majority NT. Still appreciating a classic 87 Amplified in hardback too. NASB 2020...wide margin reference based on the schuyler block. NLT...original filament bible. RSV and KJV Sovereign. I came to appreciate all these through reviewers like yourself and your contemporaries. Very grateful.
I love how you went year by year 1611 to 1952 and so forth, incredible job! I love your videos brother, keep them coming! Your channel makes me appreciate my KJV so much more!
I knew it would be a KJV in Cambridge 😮 that is my all time favorite ❤️ I do use NKJV for most Bible reading and study and sometimes I just like to read my KJV it’s like poetry but sometimes don’t understand all the words! Thanks for sharing and I enjoy your channel 🌸🌹🌺
I snagged the black goat CSB VBV on sale for $50 and it has become my everything Bible. It really is such a nice Bible which draws me in for reading and study!
My first KJV Bible was around 1963. We were taught how to read and write back then. I still use the King James version today. Never needed four or five Bibles like they do today! With the King James version there's growth!!😊
Great video and congrats on the book release! I have two personal favorites that I'd like to shine some light on. The CSB Adorned Bible is my favorite for just reading. The gold accents don't break up the text in the single column format and the illustrations are beautiful without being distracting. It just feels like I'm reading a good book. My favorite Bible for more in depth reading is the LSB inside column reference Bible. The single column verse by verse format is great for study and the inside column references keep the text from spilling into the gutter. Plus I love that the LSB uses the name Yahweh, it gives the text a different feel.
Fun video! My favorite NASB is my old Cambridge Cameo 1977 version. Perfect size, wonderful translation, references, concordance.. everything I love. Favorite KJV is the Schuyler Westminster. No longer in print but a superb Bible.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Included in my personal library are the ESV Study Bible, similar in appearance to the one in the 10:36 background on the video, and the NET full notes Bible.
No BSB mentioned? I get it, it’s not one of the top translations, but Bible Hub really did a great job with this one and it is so readable and understandable and has a free copyright! Folks like you should definitely promote it! 😊
Great video, as always! Thank you for including Bibles at lower price points. I have nothing against the beautiful craftsmanship of premium Bibles, but there are other wonderful choices, too.
I knew it would be a KJV in Cambridge 😮 that is my all time favorite ❤️ I do use NKJV for most Bible reading and study and sometimes I just like to read my KJV it’s like poetry but sometimes don’t understand mall the words! Thanks for sharing and I enjoy your channel 🌸🌹🌺
I really love all of those translations. LSB has become my favorite in terms of the central translation I want to study from but every one you covered I love and respect. The LSB ICR has a similar block but adds the references (translator notes and cross references) - that’s the one I have. The new PPR is amazing but my eyes can’t handle smaller fonts anymore. So I want to get the Large Print Reference (a bigger version of the PPR) and I would love to have the new LSB MacArthur Study Bible someday. Bless you Tim!!!
I've been picking up more Bibles and reading regularly and it's nice to have a survey for reading and studying. I plan to get the MacArthur Study and the LSB in the near future.
Great video! Well.... I just received my Bible Translations for Everyone today. I delved into it thinking I'd read just a chapter or two and before I knew it I was over 2/3rd's of the way through. You did a great job making the read easy for us laymen who have not gone to seminary. Also I want to give a round of applause for the cover. I was very impressed with the design. It looks great and feels so cool. Fantastic job both of you. Additionally, I just to say that in the inexpensive world of LSB Bibles by Steadfast, I have a portable paragraph reference red letter, indexed version. I'm not sure if you have reviewed this, but I was so impressed with this little black beauty for under $50. I would love to hear your thoughts about it, if you do a video on high quality non premium compact Bibles. I actually purchased a red with black quills (imitation of course) ostrich/alligator cover for it.
I'm with you on midsized Bibles. My favorite ESV is the Omega and its cousins like the Creeds & Confessions. I agree the LSB handy size is perfect from a size perspective but it lacks cross references and I love cross references so that's why I bought a portable paragraph reference.
Excellent list! From the Bibles I have experience with, my list would be: KJV - Cambridge Concord RSV- Schuyler Quentel NASB - Schuyler Stridon (barely edges out the Allan Reader's Edition, such a perfect format for reading and study/ almost like a reader's edition but retaining all the reference materials) ESV - Crossway Legacy (such a clean template for reading) CSB - Holman Single-Column, Personal Size Bible (perfect for just reading) NKJV - Thomas Nelson Classic Verse by Verse, Center Column Reference NET - Of course full notes edition
I hold my copy in my hand. Just put in the bookplate. I am excited to read it. (You are in rare company as I am in a season of reading marginalized voices on scripture).
The CSB that's your favorite is also my favorite text block. Mine is not premium, it's the leather touch. I think Holman does the best imitation leather. It even feels a lot like real leather. 😁
I’m a KJV guy and I agree. Although my Allen 5WM , Allen Blackface & Schuyler Canterbury are incredible, my Cambridge Concord WM has the cleanest text and by far, the best references. The center column reference is perfect. Not to mention the 80+ blank pages for notes. I will say, I am excited, I just got an email this morning that my Schuyler Stridon NKJV is in transit to my home. I ordered a saddle brown and Desert Camel and will let my Wife choose which one she wants & I will take the other. I do think my NASB 95’ WM from Steadfast is excellent as well. I will be ordering your book for myself, my brother in law and an extra copy for a Christmas gift for a friend. I absolutely love your channel. You & Randy from Bible buying guide are the best in the business and got me into collecting premium Bibles. My wife thinks I only need one, so I might need you to talk some sense into her 😂. Congratulations on the book release My Brother in Christ
KJV and NRSV selections are spot on IMO. You make a good case for the NASB Topaz over the Allen NASB which would have been my choice. Thought the Aquila might have earned a spot. Nice video.
I really enjoy the NIV Study Bible along with the NIV Student Bible. These are my go to Bibles for everyday use and ministry. One you did not list is the CEB with Apocrypha. I think it’s important to have the Apocrypha on hand for a full Bible study.
Cambridge NASB Topaz. I need to look into that. I didn't realize (or remember) that it's a verse by verse, which is my favorite, with the red letter in the New Testament. I'm hoping that Cambridge has it in a faux leather cover because I need to keep it cheap without getting a hardcover. The only reason I am even going to look at it is because of the references and the way they are laid out on the page. I will try to justify buying it as a late birthday and early Christmas gift from me to me. :)
First, congrats on the book release. We look forward to reading it! We don't tend to say people are wrong in regards to their opinions. Those are, however, some excellent choices. Our current favorite, of any bible, for daily reading, is the RSVCE brown imitation leather zippered compact bible by Ignatius Press. My only other thought is this: what about Catholic translations, like the Douay-Rheims or the New American Bible Revised Edition?
Crossway does make good bibles, but personally, I believe the Cambridge Clarion ESV in Black goat skin is the best version of the ESV. It is single column just like the crossway heritage. The size is perfect and the way it lays open due to the soft goat skin makes for a great reading experience.
I’m shocked that it’s not Allan for the KJV. Utterly floored…..the rest I could see coming a bit. But on a separate note Amazon messaged and I will have your book today! Super stoked to read it!
@@timwildsmith Oddly, I don't like the Concord. Not a fan of Times New Roman (yes, that's exactly what the font is) in Bibles - reminds me of cheap 1980s Zondy editions. More up my alley is the Turquoise or Cameo.
Personally, my favourite Bible is the Complete Jewish Study Bible, published by Hendricks. It is by Stern and assorted Rabbis and is good for reading but not so much for word study. They could do with a decent Leather Version though. The Artscroll Tanakh is also a good read too.
I just wanted to let everyone who is a CSB fan know that Lifeway has the Holman Handcrafted Spurgeon Study Bible for 54.00 and the Verse By Verse for 48.00 Both black goatskin
I only have one second hand bible in ESV😁 I can not give an opinion but i like the one i have in two columns, simple and clean looking. I agree Humble Lamb bibles are beautifully printed.
My favourite KJV is the one from TBS (Trinitarian Bible Society) the KJV reference Bible with metrical Psalms. In 2023 I purchased the last brand new copy in the world. It was sitting unregistered in their storage and waiting for me 😃. It has over 200k cross references and at the end of the Bible it has all 150 psalms in meter.
Happy release day. I’m interested in knowing if writing in your Bible versus not is significant in the Bible that you choose as your best. I use a journaling Bible that I consider as my choice.
I think the Topaz is the overall best block out there. I started with the NKJV, then grabbed an ESV, then the KJV! Lol! But MAN I wish they would have done a CSB Topaz instead of that Diadem. :( I used to LOVE the Concord too and its unique bold center column reference. The text is so clean! But I wish it had a bigger font. That 8pt font is just too small :( Same with the NLT PSQ. GORGEOUS Bible but the font is just a hair too small :(
Love this video and that humble lamb Bible is awesome. I was wondering if you have read the EHV Bible. I'm a Lutheran and it's produced by my synod. It's a wonderful read!
I really like this video, though I don't have to agree with your picks. You made some good ones! You made the mistake of requesting that we send our suggested list to you, as if I could teach you anything. I don't want to bore you. Still, I shall send my picks. I have been attempting to purchase super giant print Bibles during the past two years, when I find them available. But, it would be too easy for me simply to list my growing list of 16- and 16.5-point Bibles. So, I shall generally use other criteria for my selections. These are listed in no particular order of preference, regarding translations: (1) KJV - When I was about 11, my parents gave me an imitation leather, v-by-v, reddish brown, center column reference "Light of the World" edition, from World Publishing. Each OT verse which refers to Christ's first advent is marked with a black star. It includes a 75-page commentary, and a 414-page encyclopedia/concordance/subject index. It has about a 10.5 type. (2) Perhaps I'm cheating with this one. But, the text is a modified KVJ. It's the 1987 New Scofield Reference Bible, from Oxford, with Hand-grained Morocco binding (navy). The notes are the best of any of the Scofields. And, I'll cheat again. The Ryrie Study Bible from Moody Press (I have several) is my all-time favorite study Bible -- in hardback, soft touch, and cowhide, in KJV, NASB, and NIV. (3) NASB - A real treasure! 1971 edition, from World Publishing, in genuine leather --The 1971 has always been my favorite of the NASBs! I bought it new. (4) NLT - Love the NLT! I have three, including the chronological Life-Application. It's beautiful; yet the type is too small. So, I prefer the super giant print filament in leatherlike. (5) HCSB - The [Original] Apologetics Study Bible, in two-tone blue leather-flex -- A gem from eBay! (6) CSB - from Holman; super giant print, burgundy leathertouch (7) Berean Standard - standard-size hardback, red cover, black letter (love black letter)! (8) NIV - 1984 Large Print Reference Bible [Personal Size] in navy bonded leather -- It was a steal from eBay. (9) Evangelical Heritage Version - from Northwestern -- Brown hardback, single column text (love single column!), black letter (love black letter)! (10) Lexham English LXX - green with gold hardback (I greatly appreciate the Septuagint.) Of course, I could list more. However, I don't pursue a premiere collection. I have only one: Cambridge Cameo KJV with wide margin. The print is too small. I had bought it for my dad, back around 1980. It is bound in saddle-brown calfskin. He hardly ever carried it. By the way, I received your book today. Wonderful! I'm going to enjoy it. Tonight, I began teaching a Zoom class on the history of our English Bible. Your book will certainly come in handy! Bless you and Becca!! Happy Thanksgiving to you, my brother!
for the KJV, it's a toss up between the Canterbury and the Turquoise. for the Topaz, i have the exact same color but, in ESV. for the NIV, i love my NIV Heritage in the Passagio Setting in Blue Buffalo Leather. for the NKJV, i love the NKJV Shepherd as well by Humble Lamb, except mine is in the Amethyst color and not the Sahara Blue. for the ESV, i do love the ESV Topaz that i have but, honestly i think i love my ESV VBV Preaching Bible in Goatskin leather just a bit more and i especially like that one because it's Goatskin inside And out, which makes the cover absolutely soft and silky. for the NET, i also have the full notes edition in imitation leather and yes, it is a very helpful study-type bible. for the CSB, i'd say it's a tie between the VBV handcrafted collection and the CSB Study Bible. i like the VBV edition when i just want to read the bible and i like the study bible edition when i want to go more in-depth. for the LSB, i have the full size edition in, i believe, Cowhide Leather and it's a great translation, easy to read. i can't comment on the NRSV because i don't have that one but, i do have the RSV like you do, except mine isn't as old as yours and it's in Goatskin but, i do still really like it.

I just got my book today!
Thanks Tim, great video. Congratulations again on the book. I'm anxiously awaiting the delivery guy pulling up to the house :)
Nice!
Got the book, love it so far.
Just finished reading the book! Well done!
Awesome! Thank you!
Thanks Tim, on your recommendation l bought the CSB wide margin and agree it is a great bible.
Great ones!
Love the video.good job Tim
No BSB mentioned? I get it, it’s not one of the top translations, but Bible Hub really did a great job with this one and it is so readable and understandable and has a free copyright! Folks like you should definitely promote it! 😊
I would really like to own a BSB. Where can I get one, though? I know it’s on the Bible app, but I want a physical copy.
The BSB has only one edition. Ok, 2 if you consider the earlier Berean Study Bible. But the text block is all the same. Not much to choose from
I love the BSB. Probably my top 2 favorite.
Got the kindle version of your book today
Nice!
As always I loved the video and will be looking into the affordable ones
Thanks again, Tim..
Great video, as always! Thank you for including Bibles at lower price points. I have nothing against the beautiful craftsmanship of premium Bibles, but there are other wonderful choices, too.
You are so welcome!
Really good fly-by…Thanks Tim! Really well done…. I will say that my fav CSB is the Spurgeon study Bible by Holman! What a great read!!
My favorite LSB is the 2 column verse by verse. Very clean very simple.
Good picks. I have that ESV, NLT, NET, and Shepherd. They are some of my favorites too.
Awesome. Thank you!
From the Bibles I have experience with, my list would be:
KJV - Cambridge Concord
RSV- Schuyler Quentel
NASB - Schuyler Stridon (barely edges out the Allan Reader's Edition, such a perfect format for reading and study/ almost like a reader's edition but retaining all the reference materials)
ESV - Crossway Legacy (such a clean template for reading)
CSB - Holman Single-Column, Personal Size Bible (perfect for just reading)
NKJV - Thomas Nelson Classic Verse by Verse, Center Column Reference
NET - Of course full notes edition
Another great review
I hold my copy in my hand. Just put in the bookplate. I am excited to read it. (You are in rare company as I am in a season of reading marginalized voices on scripture).
The CSB that's your favorite is also my favorite text block. Mine is not premium, it's the leather touch. I think Holman does the best imitation leather. It even feels a lot like real leather. 😁
Good morning.
My favorite RSV is the Oxford Annotated Bible with the Apocrypha. (There are some great black leather bindings out there too.)
Nice video.
NET full notes edition just showed up on my doorstop today :)
Let's go!
I have to say I love how bold the font is in some of the Cambridge bibles. The mahogany Concord is so beautiful, but too pricey for me.
Favorite LSB for me is the single column, wide margin, verse by verse. It is perhaps the most readable Bible I've ever owned.
Happy release day!!
🎉
The MEV just released their updated bible. I’d love to see you review that one. Super affordable and looks really nice.
I might keep an eye open for the updated MEV on the websites I usually go to for Bibles and study materials.
I like the text block on ESV heritage
I would like to see that heritage in the versions that evangelical bible made last year.
I got that same green NLT PSQ.
It came down to the Longprimer and the Concord!
I only have one second hand bible in ESV😁
I can not give an opinion but i like the one i have in two columns, simple and clean looking.
I agree Humble Lamb bibles are beautifully printed.
Happy Release Day 📚👍
My favourite KJV is the one from TBS (Trinitarian Bible Society) the KJV reference Bible with metrical Psalms. In 2023 I purchased the last brand new copy in the world. It was sitting unregistered in their storage and waiting for me 😃.
It has over 200k cross references and at the end of the Bible it has all 150 psalms in meter.
I ordered my copy, but it won’t be here till the 20th, can’t wait😄
Got my copy , read the introduction, waiting to get home to read the first chapter 😅
My favourite ASV 1901 is the Logos International Study Bible 1972.
Happy release day. I’m interested in knowing if writing in your Bible versus not is significant in the Bible that you choose as your best. I use a journaling Bible that I consider as my choice.
I write separately most often, so it's not a huge factor for me.
I think the Topaz is the overall best block out there. I started with the NKJV, then grabbed an ESV, then the KJV! Lol! But MAN I wish they would have done a CSB Topaz instead of that Diadem. :(
I used to LOVE the Concord too and its unique bold center column reference. The text is so clean! But I wish it had a bigger font. That 8pt font is just too small :(
Same with the NLT PSQ. GORGEOUS Bible but the font is just a hair too
small :(
Love this video and that humble lamb Bible is awesome.
These are listed in no particular order of preference, regarding translations:
(1) KJV - When I was about 11, my parents gave me an imitation leather, v-by-v, reddish brown, center column reference "Light of the World" edition, from World Publishing.
(6) CSB - from Holman; super giant print, burgundy leathertouch
(7) Berean Standard - standard-size hardback, red cover, black letter (love black letter)!
(8) NIV - 1984 Large Print Reference Bible [Personal Size] in navy bonded leather -- It was a steal from eBay.
(9) Evangelical Heritage Version - from Northwestern -- Brown hardback, single column text (love single column!), black letter (love black letter)!
(10) Lexham English LXX - green with gold hardback (I greatly appreciate the Septuagint.)
Of course, I could list more.
Great list!
never see any love for RC sproul’s reformation study bible. hands down my favorite.. NET being #2
Not sure how you didn't fit a Thompson chain reference into your list. I think that system is spectacular.
I hope you can do a Review on the NLT Stent Life Aplication Study Bible 👍🏼
for the KJV, it's a toss up between the Canterbury and the Turquoise. for the Topaz, i have the exact same color but, in ESV. for the NIV, i love my NIV Heritage in the Passagio Setting in Blue Buffalo Leather. for the NKJV, i love the NKJV Shepherd as well by Humble Lamb, except mine is in the Amethyst color and not the Sahara Blue. for the ESV, i do love the ESV Topaz that i have but, honestly i think i love my ESV VBV Preaching Bible in Goatskin leather just a bit more and i especially like that one because it's Goatskin inside And out, which makes the cover absolutely soft and silky. for the NET, i also have the full notes edition in imitation leather and yes, it is a very helpful study-type bible. for the CSB, i'd say it's a tie between the VBV handcrafted collection and the CSB Study Bible. i like the VBV edition when i just want to read the bible and i like the study bible edition when i want to go more in-depth. for the LSB, i have the full size edition in, i believe, Cowhide Leather and it's a great translation, easy to read. i can't comment on the NRSV because i don't have that one but, i do have the RSV like you do, except mine isn't as old as yours and it's in Goatskin but, i do still really like it.
