As someone who's 21 and built his own van. It took a lot of time, effort, money and patience to do it. I did it myself without any of my parents money or help. Seeing a 19 year old remodeling a whole van is wild. The amount of time, effort, money, and patience put in to the van must be crazy. I can't even image it. Great job Natalie, we're proud of you and I'm sure your proud of yourself. I hope your happy with your work :)

This is a great analogy about life in general. You have to let go of the things that you don't want in your life so that you can make room for the things you do want. You're amazing! putting yourself up to do this at the age of 19 and seeing you struggle and grow is so inspiring! Thanks for making the video
I love how you’re not over romanticising this project, making it look like a Pinterest dream, but actually showing the hard work both physically and mentally, and still making it inspiring! I’m the same age as you but far from being as much independent (a lot because I serve in the army, not by my choice but because it’s a duty where I live) and this well made video definitely brought me hope that one day I’ll create for myself the life I want just like you do by hard work & tons of motivation! Great job Natalie!!! I'm a 69 year old who after dealing with cancer 3 times, AND WINNING, decided a few years ago to acquire "Vanessa" a 1987 Ram campervan. I took things slow as not able to do as much as fast as I would like, lol. Like you, I went through all the struggles to complete the reno, and I'm so proud of all the new skills I learned along the way. So I'm not afraid to try something, and I'm very proud of you and your accomplishments :) Each day is a new day, so put your shine on and welcome each new adventure in your life

I lived in a van when I was 21 back in 2012. I drove a New Chevy Express Passenger Van.
I did it as a way to save $$$.
People called me homeless and a creep.
Little did they knew I actually owned a home and traveled a lot for work.
Now Everyone is jumping on the Van, Schoolie, TinyHome Trend. Can’t blame them.
Never too late to chase your freedom and dreams.
It helped me get to where I’m at now at 32.

Edit: Im not comparing myself. The amount of work put in to the van was wayyyy more work than my project. My point was I know what it's like to be young and do projects. But, again, her project was way way WAY more work then mine
hey! making your own kart sounds like a very cool project, im currently 16 as well, how would i be able to start learning about go karts and whatever, I want to make a go cart too!
@@hello-zq8ku not gonna lie, you can only do so much with a go kart. I chose to build an off road go kart. For my purposes I wanted to take it up to the trails up in the mountains, but the go kart just couldn't handle it. If you wanted to, you probably could build one. If you don't know what your doing it's not a bad idea to ask a parent. I have a lot of experience with tools so I had something to work off of. If you don't think you can build one after reading this, don't let me keep you from doing it. However It's not a bad idea to consider buying an atv, dirt bike, or mini bike, like me, which is what I ended up buying about 2 years after I build it

during this whole video I just kept saying "this is so cool" and it's not even my inner automotive enthusiast but how awesome it is to go out and do a project like this. you have all my respect
Great job renovating, and the thoughts on how it's a project of trust in yourself especially when growing up in distrustful environments. Most people won't see this way of life but that's fine, it's awesome for certain people. Everything said about it being like a refuge, pushing past perfectionist struggles lol, very true, I built a house in the woods when I was 20 and it was a similar feeling of - creating a bubble of sanity, discovery and self confidence.
Protip for securing items while you are moving in a clean way: buy some strong magnets and a sheet a metal. Install the magnets on the bottom of items and put the sheet of metal (make sure you buy a type that magnets are attracted to) just under the top surface of the counter. A thin sheet of wood laminate would work perfectly on top of it and you would get to keep the wood aesthetic.
This is what you call a TH-cam classic… you can rewatch many times and not get bored, the editing is great
It doesn't matter how expensive or luxurious it may be, the important thing is that you do it with love and your project with love, I loved seeing a woman super determined to achieve her dream, thank you for sharing the great work you achieved 😱😇
As I just discovered this channel and saw few videos I must say "It's beautiful!". Your videos have beauty like no other I have seen. They feel like something I was watching as a child and it's probably because they showed me what I wanted of myself and my life, something I forgot. Your talent in making videos is amazing as you managed to express yourself this much. Thank you for reminding me that dreaming and living is something we choose and work for. For a long time I felt something was missing and I think everyday killed my child, wishes, dreams and pushed me in a world I don't want to be part of. Full props to your perseverance, dedication, and willingness to learn and do. I have to admit I probably wouldn't have stuck that out. Learning that good that gets done can beat perfection that doesn't is a good thing to learn. Stay safe, but enjoy the journey. If I knew in my early adult years what I know now I think I'd have done similar. Maybe not the build. A sleeping bag and a van would work.

I don't want to waste 7 to 11 years of my life studying , constantly in stress , just to get a job praised by everyone else and to make my fam proud. When I say that I'm ready to leave everyone behind I mean it , so why do I fear becoming a disappointment and always worry what others will think/ how they will view me?
A new country , new look , new name and a new life... A chance to be reborn that is all.
The only aspect that makes this but a mere dream is the realistic one , no money means no freedom , running away is futile as you'll end up homeless , penniless and regret every choice you've made , so back to square one but now it's a lot worse. I fear having no degree and no money will mean working long hours for little money , not even enough to live yet alone start over elsewhere. Shit's so depressing.

I really related to this; Incredibly independent, and constantly feel like if I want something done well/right I have to do it myself and I often feel disconnected from people.
It's odd though, people seem to feel closer to me than I do to them.
I enjoy solitude but I often wonder if that's a good thing, because you constantly get told that experiences and happiness needs to be shared to have meaning. I don't know how to have peace while sharing my life with others. The emotional labour always tends to fall to me and relationships (platonic and romantic) end up being one-sided and I just go numb. I've noticed society, as a whole, doesn't respect kindness and authenticity. Hard to find spaces online or irl where it's appreciated and you can encounter others who you can learn from and grow together. So much envy and narcissism.

this is an amazing restoration/reinvention you did a great job and inspired me to finally finish working on my 70's econoline van it will take me some time because sadly it has some mechanical issues but i look forward to the challenges it brings. thank you for sparking that flame to work on something i want to do again.
I've been recently thinking a lot about living in a boat, as someone young with not a lot of money it's a big risk but also feels like the only moment in life I will be able to do this. Im going to be renovating a van in a year or two and this has actually made me want to get a van like this one. Seems like it was a lot of work, but you didnt have to take it down to its skeleton to rebuild it like buying a cargo van would be. This was also just very inspiring.

I thought about a similar lifestyle not too long ago now but have decided to stick to one place and apartment to live with someone I love. I'm only a year or so older than you at most, but, that's beside the point. Your renovation and complete overhaul of Spiffy is brilliant, and I think you'll do great when you put your mind to what you want to do in life. I love this. I've really hit a hard spot in my bus build. I'm 18 and just graduated and I'm building a bus to live in and I just had to move build sites. This video gave me so much inspiration. Thank you ❤️
How sad that for a lot of people this won't be a fun project, but an actual place to live, instead of a house or an apartment. It should be alongside that not instead of.

Personally, I would live in a van over an apartment because I can do and travel more. Some people need the stability of a home not on wheels tho. Everyone is different and that means their wants and needs are different.

I LOVED this video (one of the best videos ive seen in general). The editing and the videography was *chef's kiss*. It was completely engaging throughout and, you really captured the storyline of building a van. I loved the little additions of showing your emotions cause it really added to the video. I also have always wanted to do van life and, this video was a bit of a push to keep in that path. The van looks AMAZING. Kudos to you for doing it by yourself!
It's so interesting and unique to have people the same age as you who are on a completely different journey share very similar feelings and thoughts. I'm making this specific comment in relation to your discussion of independence and trust of others as well as the feeling of loneliness and how it relates to others not being able to understand you due to the differences in your life courses (~ 8:00 )- but this has actually come up a lot for me as I've been watching your "borderless" (and even some pre-"borderless") content.
I turned 20 this past July and there's been a lot of mental difficulties with the decisions I've made to support the goals I've wanted in life, and how those goals have changed, even recently, as my perspective of what I truly find meaningful has changed. There's just so much I feel in my life that I don't know how to properly put into words yet for somebody who hasn't lived my life to understand. It's really reaffirming to listen to you go through similar experiences as you move on your journey and with your van life project. Thanks.

I'm nearly 10 years your senior having lived a hard life and watching your progression from "I went on an adventure alone", to your "I became everything I ever wanted" video to now has been an inspiring experience of what taking charge of your life and destiny can be.
