Speaking as the author of Robb Returns, I am highly chuffed that what started out as a bit of fun has made it to Number Two on this list. Yes, I do intend to finish it.
Hello! I love your writing. It's nice to know the fanfic will get finished, I absolutely love it so far and I'm only on chapter 34. It's so satisfying to see the characters do so much better the second time around. I alsso love your style; it's not like GRRM's, but it's still just as awesome. Thank you
Loved Purple Days. I always wondered if this would be the story Jack Gleeson would write. And Hear Me Roar was great, imagine the Hound interacting with Hobbits. And Tywin trying to arrange a marriage between Cersei and Boromir. But another I really really liked was Ned Lives. In this one there is one change. Varys realizes that Littlefinger is persuading Joffrey to execute Ned, so he slips him a laxative and Joffrey is unable to attend Ned’s confession. This was held at the Sept of Baelor because it was all arranged that Ned would be granted mercy and allowed to take the black. So Cersei sends Ned to the Wall after his confession. Everything changes, Robb is not made King and he keeps his word to Walder Frey, he has to go back and interview all of the Frey girls to pick one. Gatehouse Ami gets her chance to try to win him. There is a sequel called Ned Lives II it is a long story, but worth reading. I will definitely look up Charles Dance saves Westeros and Robb Returns.
Robb returns by Dark Scribbles has many fantasy elements and good plot with Gerion Lannister returning from Valaria with Brightroar and focuses on entire westeros as a whole instead of making the starks OP.
A few that you missed that I truly think should have belonged on this list: -A Game of Stacks. Take the characters and the very basic premise of game of thrones and put it in a modern-day westeros centered around a college and its library. Not only is it great for finding ways to update all the characters into this modern world but to also find ways to have them take different paths while echoing what happened to their Canon counterparts. Who knew that by the end you'd be rooting for cersei and stannis of all people? -A Song of Metal and Marvels. The premise is very simple but the story is very complex. What if the world of the MCU existed in westeros. Not like Tony suddenly appearing with all his technology. Rather what if you took all of these characters and had them live in westeros. Be a part of that existence. And slowly turn the story of a song of ice and fire into a superhero tale? The author has no problems with taking deep dives of merging cannons in order to create very interesting and unexpected plot movements. For a taste he uses the Legends and stories of the vulture King from a game of thrones, the tyrells issues with ensuring that they're standing in westeros always remains firm, and the villain the vulture to create a complex villain who half the time you are rooting for even as he does horrific things and battles this world's version of Spider-Man -And Then The Giant Awoke. Part humor part wish fulfillment this story is built on the idea of what if Tyrion had kept his wits and used his brain starting right during his trial by combat. The result is a Tyrion that drags westeros and the rest of the world kicking and screaming into the middle ages. Well also showing his cunning to take control of the world without having to sit on a throne or wear a crown. Case in point a drunken moment in essos causes him to figure out how to make the printing press. Add into this the wonderful assides of stories that we are only told brief moments about before being shunted back to the main story and it is truly a Wonder at World building
One shout out is "No featherbed for me" centred around Arya. Just saying it includes a love traingle and has quite a lot of angst so be warned as the ending was SO bitterwseet
I am reading a story now worthy of being posted about here. It is Shrouded Destiny by Gladiusx. At first it may seem to be a regular Jon Snow time-travel fix-it. But then it turns into so much more. Massive World Building with Soooooooo many characters. You spend time with the Northern clan the Liddles, you have obscure Lannister cousins, Wildling society in the land beyond the Wall, nothing plays out like you expect and a great story. Jon Snow returns as a 16 year old and gives Eddard warning of what is going to happen , and Eddard listens and prepares. Changes happen and everything unfolds differently. Edge of your seat, twists and turns in the plot, and you can't wait for what is going to happen next. It is 65 chapters and still being written, one chapter a week.
Seriously recommend this. If you want to see a competent Eddard Stark holding his own against the schemes in Kingslanding. Plus he has his own Master of Whisperers in Howland Reed.
@@Costin_Gaming I’m on chapter 46 now, big plot change just happened. Can’t wait to see the fallout. Thank you for this video. It is a good place to post about GoT verse fanfic when O find a really really good one.
Hope people like this list and find it useful. If you have any stories you think are good please do share them here, I'd very much enjoy to find some more great FFs. in the universe of Game of Thrones/Song of Ice and Fire. There are a few good Harry Potter crossovers with Game of Thrones, notably 'Swords and Roses' by Sage 1988. Quite an interesting take and still being updated.
Dude really happy to see this and i am still massively sad that Blackfish out of water is abandoned because that entire premise was so awesome and well executed.
I found another good one, and they need to be REALLY GOOD for me to post here. The Raven's Plan by The_Sithspawn. Bran does a spell to bring some people back, but it brings more than some. A lot of people come back from their deaths with all of their memories. All of the Starks and much of Winterfell. Robert wakes up in bed thinking he dreamed the boar. Jaime Lannister needs to get his kids out of Kingslanding. Tywin knows Tyrion killed him. Lots of Characters mostly show centric, but not completely a bunch of book characters show up too. An enormous amount of humor in this one. Trying to find the right time to explain to Ned and Catelyn about how Arya is a trained Assassin and Sansa feed her second husband to his dogs. The story is not finished for last 2 years, which is a shame as it teased the future meeting of Arya and Tywin who she had served as Cupbearer at Harrenhall. But the story has lots of characters and twists and turns in the plot. I personally plan to reread it.
I found another one that is very good. It is called The Pack Survives by astolat. This is mostly a Robb story. Robb Stark proved himself a brilliant general, so much that Tywin Lannister stopped trying to meet his armies in the field. In this story the Lannister learn earlier about Daenerys. After she took Yunkai and got her army of Unsullied and her three dragons burned the city, she was going to return to Pentos. The Lannisters expected her to then invade Westeros and needed to make peace with Robb, because they need a united North, and Robb the undefeated general. So the Red Wedding doesn't happen. Robb had lost the Frey by marrying Talisa and Karstarks by executing Lord Rickard. Tywin sends Sansa with generous peace terms, paying Catelyn back for the return of Jaime. Robb owes fealty, but can call himself King. There is a very good plot with unexpected twists. Also many battles with intricate strategy, Robb is a military genius. And touching Stark reunions make it worth reading. Only thing is that there is a lot of sex, like really a lot. But excellent story.
Read almost all of them but for me nothing beats Charles Dance saves westeros. There is no stark/targaryan waking and uplifting as seen in many other SI stories but simple plot and dialogue driven by Charles plots is simply superb.
Anyone wanting a good Tywin story. The Trials and Tribulations of Tywin Lannister, Time Traveler by GremlinSR. Just started really and only 7 chapters but they really have the character. Tywin is killed by Tyrion but the Goods send him back to the Tournament of Harrenhall where Jaime is sworn in as a Kingsguard. His mission is to save the Starks since to hold back the Long Night there must be a Stark in Winterfell to worship at the Heart trees. So Tywin, disappointed with all of his children, now finds himself having to be a staunch ally of the North in order to protect his houses future. Trying to steer the Starks through events and hopefully keep Aerys from killing all of them.
Bro, I can't believe "dragons of ice and fire" by serpentguy isn't on the list. It's probably the best story I've read in the fandom. P.S. you should really stop spoiling these stories. You really just told all what happened on your number one pick.

Dig your story to the max:) Saw it oin FF and was glad to bookmark it in Archive of our own.

Agreed Purple Days deserve the first place with the author making us root for Joffrey with brilliant world building and character development.
Also Purple Days had been on of quite few fanfictions, that are actually finished. Which is rather uncommon for this janre in general.
Yes , Purple days is amazing. Someone made this into an audiobook and posted to TH-cam so it is readily available if you want to hear it.
Just found a Jon Snow in Groundhog Day story. Mostly lives are told in flashback scenes. Valar Botis (All men must endure) by Sanva
"The north remembers" by SilverRavenStar is my favorite.
Robb returns by Dark Scribbles has many fantasy elements and good plot with Gerion Lannister returning from Valaria with Brightroar and focuses on entire westeros as a whole instead of making the starks OP.

Any “modern day Westeros” fanfics are stupid…the whole appeal of GOT is the medieval era

What are some male and female names can i use in a game of thrones fanfiction since my post on reddit keeps getting deleted, Any help is welcome.

shadow of the wolf by Gracques is in AO3 214 chapters complete .I know I just checked
Indeed, great story.
Charles Dance saves westeros and Robb returns!!
The best one I ever read is trials and tribulations that fanfiction is better than the entire show hands down
Yeah, a very detail story. The Black Prince genre
Read almost all of them but for me nothing beats Charles Dance saves westeros. There is no stark/targaryan waking and uplifting as seen in many other SI stories but simple plot and dialogue driven by Charles plots is simply superb.
