A team of you guys should go after wither skulls to get beacons going for faster mining. There should be a group of people mining iron to create the beacons cuz it doesn't matter what material you build it out of. Cover the area in beacon so everybody can have mining efficiency.
you know automated mining machines exist if you have the redstone prowess required to make them. That's how mind crack or other similar servers typically accomplish that kind of thing. So you might have a harder time breaking an unofficial world record than you think
One time I built an enormous automatic redstone sugarcane farm from the bedrock to max build height. It would create 64 or so stacks of sugarcane with a single button press but also lag most of the server. It looked really cool to jump down the middle. The server doesn't exist anymore but they saved the worlds to some files and gave me a copy of it.
