I think that's part of the fantasy of drag. But I for one have a hard time not imagining the person out of drag "under" the performance sometimes, which is the other way around. But this is particular to Drag Race queens, because we see so much of them out of drag in the show.

This is so sad to me because although it's an amazing song, it's Trixie watching brain shine on stage like how he wants it to be, but then you see that brain's behind a curtain and the crowds watching trixie as a puppet which is a metaphor of what she feels being trixie is like. There is so much symbolism in this it's actually amazing.
