I definitely agree not all drag shows are appropriate for children, however it's the parents responsibility to not take their children to those shows. You're not gonna take your child to a strip club then blame the strippers.
Exactly, especially as a drag queen who performs only at family friendly events, I definitely keep it completely kid appropriate. I mean my last number was literally me dressed in all white and glitter performing let it go lmao, I don't see how people think that's grooming when singers and Disney performers do just that all the time
@@ireliyuhh I think most parents expect family friendly drag shows to be just like you described, more classy and composed. The issue is with the Queens themselves that don't understand or care what makes a performance "family friendly." They're doing a great disservice to Drag Queens in general, who in my experience have been some of the warmest & funniest people to be around.
@Stephanie Mitchell yeah I think when it comes to those kinds of things its mostly a production issue because it's the job of whoever is producing the show to make sure the queen knows or has an idea of what Child friendly is supposed to be for them. Like I have to run songs and numbers by my producers first before they approve them lol
@@PatricenotPatrick uh, these disgusting shows are still drag shows. Drag is about such a wide variety of things that saying that drag is for kids is wrong and saying that it's not for kids is wrong. Some films are for kids, some aren't. Some books are for kids, some aren't. Some drag is for kids, some isn't.
As a former Christian who is a therapist. I can tell everyone I have NEVER had clients traumatized by Dragqueens. I DO have a LOT of clients that have endured horrific trauma in churches and religious families!
My niece who is a clinical psychologist who specializes in trauma gets most of her patients from Catholic high schools. Please, tell you patients that they should never accept shame from the shameless.
yup. exactly. same. and what they're doing is like saying that all movies are inappropriate for children. No. don't damn the whole movie industry. Some are appropriate, some clearly aren't. There's such a thing as * genre * . Not all clowns are appropriate for children (like horror ones). Not all circuses are appropriate for children. Not all movies are appropriate for children. Not all concerts are appropriate for children. Not all spectator sports are appropriate for children (especially ones with swearing and violence). Not all religious services are appropriate for children. Not all drag shows are appropriate for children.
As someone with extensive religious trauma, I actually found a lot of comfort in drag queens, and the art of drag in general. The idea that someone was out there who could make a complete farce all while looking stunning, and lip-synching to some of my favourite songs. It was so comforting and got me through tough times, where, conveniently enough my religious trauma over took my life.
The fact that these women’s brother was sexually abused as a child and their mother saw it happen and did nothing to stop the abuse let’s you know who the real predators are
yeah, they're so disconnected and it's hard to watch because they could be having so much fun but instead they're just ashamed and doing/saying what they've been taught
exactly i still can't find my peace with people like this after living all my life being told by people like them that i'm evil and wrong for being the way i am... i really hate that
If a child is at a non-child friendly drag show, that’s on the parents, not the queens/kings. As Lady Gaga once said “Who tf hears the words Lady Gaga and Las Vegas and thinks ‘I’m bringing my kids!’“ like seriously, if you bring your kids to an adult drag show, the queens/kings aren’t going to change the performance to be more child friendly
@@hannarivers5872 that isn't their responsibility. they have so much going on with the show, kids coming is on the parents and no one else. and if kids do get in, it's out of their control
@@overgrownkudzu yeah not usually but they can and they should.. would u just let a kid into a strip club? no same thing if ur going to be talking about/doing s3xual things
I love how Trixie immediately picked up how these girls hate each other 😂 it's so obvious that they do not like each other. Also I love the transparency Trixie and I absolutely agree with you. I just... It's so weird to me that Christians live in this delusional world where the idea of letting other people exist, do what they want live how they want seems like terrorism to them.
Trixie, so many of my dear friends in the late 1980s in San Francisco were drag queens who did not survive the AIDS crisis, and I miss them so badly. The hilarious humor, raunchiness, and sense of the absurd that you and Katya bring to my life make me feel their presence again. Thank you so much for that.
@@sharroon7574 no they don't. if you watch those shows like toddlers and tiaras. the gigantic majority, if not All of the people there are conservatives.
So true about "Do people go to therapy because they went to a Drag show? No". Meanwhile you've got millions of people scarred for life because of organized religion.
So true. I had a horrible time as a kid in church as well. Protestants claim to be so much more progressive compared to catholics but it was a protestant church we had a pastor being physically violent against "misbehaving" children, (He was moved after the second incident he hit a child as a form of punishment.) and a Sexton preying on underage girls. Lovely people these are...
i appreciated that, while trixie maintained a sense of respectfulness, she still called them out with no hesitation when they said something genuinely damaging. cruel people don't deserve to be baby-talked.
yes, this! it could have been very easy for Trixie to just go for full mockery or scathing, but she actually answered to the main point with eloquence and taking them seriously.
It‘s the hypocrisy that gets me. They have a problem how drag is „pushed onto them“ (when it’s not) and them turn around pushing their religious beliefs on other people
I see almost every video unrelated to christianity have atleast 1-3 people comment Christian related things. I havent seen ANYONE comment under a random video "repent to Trixie Mattel"
Literally like a Disney villain saying an objectively wrong thing in their speech so it can happen later. "Oh you really think friendship is going to save you" type beat.
@CaptainPlasma1117 If it's a fringe case from a group they don't align with, then it needs to be plastered on all front pages. When it's institutionalised repression from their camp, suddenly it's a diversion tactic and a mischaracterisation of their personal lives.
I think you sumed it up perfectly. Those views are exactly why I stayed closeted and ashamed of who I was. Course the tide is turning big time and hopefully they will be the minority soon. Drag Queens gave me joy during my darkest times. Thankyou so much. What I have been through is probably nothing compared to what drag Queens have had to go through. From the bottom of my heart, thankyou queen's!
Yep I grew up with very accepting parents but we went to church, well mum did and my brother and I went with her, and I learnt to feel ashamed of myself. Took me a long time to realise I was denying who I was because of internalised shame I learnt far too young.
It is clear that these girls are also closeted or in relationships with men who are closeted. That’s the ONLY reason that I can give them an ounce of grace.
As a woman, I've never felt insulted by a drag queen OR trans women. I have, however, had Christian cis women repeatedly insult me and try to take my rights away.
Insulted? LOL actually the opposite! I have never ending respect and awe (hope this is how it’s spelled) for drag queens, because I know much work and how hard it is to look like a hot woman… as a woman, imagine they are able to do it as men!! 🫶🙌
I mean, the only ones who insulted me are girl defined. I'm a cis woman, and girl defined just told me that my body is unacceptable, bit butts and boobs are clearly bad in their eyes. And simply existing with those features is "oversexualising" apparently.
I actually went to church where they had “drag Easter” because it was also transgender day of visibility. They had a really lovely drag queen who read a story to the kids, everyone came in drag, and our pastor talked about his journey of coming out as trans. My cousin got up during the sharing part and talked about how glad they were to feel safe, and I got to play around with masculine gender expression and found I had a lot of fun with it. I wish that church wasn’t two hours away from me because it’s one of the few places I still feel respected after leaving my really nice church when I moved.
When I was younger I got lost in Las Vegas and I have never felt safer than with a group of drag queens who helped me find my parents. The drag community is amazing and anyone who says otherwise is wrong and I also have more trauma from people in the church than any other community I have been around.
as someone who lived near vegas and was absolutely horrified of it, i would be so comforted if a group of drag queens helped me find my parents.... and i am a pastors kid
When they say "look at this drag queen who became Christian" it's really easy to say, look at the thousands of drag queens who grew up religious and now they aren't 🤷♀️
I’m a Christian and before I was saved I would use my fake ID to go to drag bars bc it was safer to go there and have fun than to go to normal bars. After I got saved I was still an ally. Going to drag shows and having friendships with queens make me feel so happy for many reasons but my favorite is that I genuinely feel celebrated in womanhood. I didn’t have a mom growing up queens taught me everything I know. I’m forever grateful they exist.
i went to my first drag show recently, and for what it’s worth it’s the safest i ever felt. literally almost cried because i just knew that the people in that room are people who wouldn’t judge me for who i am.
I felt the same when I went to pride parade in our city. Thousands of people in the heat with little clothes on, yet I felt very safe and never uncomfortable. Can’t say the same for any nightclub with straight men
They keep on mentioning the big breasts because they hate the female body, they hate themselves. The internalized misogny is so intense, I can't image what their internal thoughts are like.
To play Devil's Advocate here, the Church teaches that women's bodies are shameful and partially caused the downfall of Mankind. It's easy to see why they have a problem with the 'female' form. Such religious beliefs are just a form of PTSD, IMHO. 🖤
But these women also seem a lot more judgemental than I was, so I think they take all that anxiety and project it onto others. Less "am I godly enough" and more "OMG, Becky, look at how ungodly she is"
The worst thing is that so many women pull down other women because of their insecurities, envy, and jealousy. 90% of the insults that I've received all my life about my body and clothes came from other women.
They were probably abused (or their mother's projected their body issues on them) and they do hate their bodies. Or, and this is even more ridiculous and seriously damaging, since they belong to a wacko church, they probably had to do one of those ceremonies where they had to pledge their virginity to their fathers.
Trixie: "Drag is valid, and no one is going to therapy because they were exposed to drag." *Katya enters the room* Trixie: "I take back everything I said..."
My wife and I are Christian individuals and plan to have kids. We don’t attend church because it’s such a toxic environment. The percentage of girls who grew up in church being sexually assaulted by church staff or volunteers is heartbreaking. I really do believe drag would be safer for kids than church.
i really think it's a matter of which country you live in, in the Philippines it's not as big as an issue as mostly everyone is catholic and christians, I do love the churches I ever went to (not all because the speakers are bass boosted)
i think the safety of a church depends a lot on what neighborhood you live in. I live in a very secular, progressive, "university city" - if my church tried to pull anything icky on us (including homophobia or transphobia), they will get called out on it IMMEDIATELY. The power imbalance required for abuse to go unpunished is a lot harder to establish in a world where you are surrounded by nuanced messaging emphasizing the importance of consent and accountability. I hope you and your wife find a non-toxic church to attend if that is still something you wish for yourself and your family - church has been my safe space, when having to heal from family abuse trauma, and I wish that everyone had supports like that in their lives. Anyway, have a nice day!
I am 61 and straight and I ADORE YOU and Katya!!! I would never ever watch these miserable hate filled idiots , but I know that they exist. As a mom of a trans daughter, they terrify me!! But having you post this and watching your calm , even tempered and eloquent rebuttals of all of this slime is so WONDERFUL!!!! Thank you!!!!
it’s the way drag queens actually helped me embrace my femininity instead of hating it?? like i grew up in an environment where being feminine was “embarrassing” but after finding drag and watching trixie over the years, i’ve came to really love how feminine i am
This is how I feel about trans women. No one made me want to embrace my femininity and made me feel powerful in it until I saw a few trans women truly shine in their truth. I didn't realize how much shame I actually had about being female before then.
I dont know if there is an "Overton window" for gender expression but I completely understand what you mean. By expressing femininity in a way that is joyous, fun, and over the top, it makes our more every day expression of it feel more joyful too.
Saying no drag is child friendly is like saying no theatre is child friendly. There is a world of difference between musicals like The Lion King and musicals like The Book of Mormon.
They will say the most AGGRESSIVELY hateful and disrespectful things about queer people, but if you come back at them with even 10% of the same energy, they'll immediately start crying and say that we all just need to get along and respect each other's beliefs.
They love to lean into that "Christian Persecution" that is really just people telling them that the world does not and should not revolve around them.
I grew up in a very conservative area. Like, the progressive Mormon families were less strict than some of the Baptists kind of area. Lived next to a Baptist preacher that gave my mom the creeps...turned out he had multiple affairs with women he was giving marriage counseling to, and was caught by his daughter who suspected it, and had her husband follow him with a camera.
No really the way most drag queens respect women so much more than cis men do, enough that they’d be the last to ever harass a woman, despite how conservatives keep saying “cross dressers” only dress up to perv on women….
Having grown up in a very conservative church, I am so tired of the assumptions they make due to breast size. As a child, I was repeatedly shamed because my mother _believed_ I would develop large breasts. Not to mention the way I was treated once I actually developed them.
There are some sects / churches of Christianity that really act like you should hate yourself and be ashamed of yourself for having a rockin bod lol Like what a contradiction to all the other teaching about loving yourself and others 😂🤦🏼♀️
“do people go to therapy because they went to a drag show?” is a legendary perspective. i literally go to therapy heavily because i went to church and experienced, well, church things.
As a small child in the 70’s, I was exposed to drag queens. What happened was SHOCKING. It made me open minded. And it taught me how to do my eyeshadow. These poor little morons.
Wow guess you got off easy then. A kid just got molested by one of these clownz! It was dragqueen story hour. You foolz need to stay away from the children honestly. Even other drag queens said this
I spent so much time trapped in internalized misogyny; drag queens helped me to understand and appreciate the unique power of femininity. I’ve grown so much bc of drag ❤
I love how Trixie is both this cursed, silly drag queen while simultaneously being very eloquent, intelligent and well spoken. She is talking with so much maturity and respect. Truly a great person to represent the community.
Speaking as a suspiciously large cis woman, the popularization of drag has been amazing for me because for the first time ever, I can actually FIND thigh-high stockings for a six-foot tall person. (Don't even get me started on shoes--I end up shopping in the men's section at the mall whether I like it or not.) I've nothing but gratitude for the drag community; so much cute stuff just wasn't made in my size that's now accessible to me because online stores are selling to queens.
I have never been able to relate to a statement more. I have the exact same problem. Nothing is ever long enough for me, and I wear a size 11 shoe. So happy that I can find things now.
Where did all this “cis” nonsense come from?? People shouldn’t have to apologise for being straight male or female. Too many made up labels these days, so silly.
Totally in agreement with you about how weird it is when people, primarily the older generation, refer to “girlfriends” and “boyfriends” of little children. I have two daughters and I cringe every time an older relative comments on them “flirting” when they smile at them. Ew. Do they not hear how they’re sexualizing them? Yet they’re the same ones who think drag queens are corrupting our youth 🙄.
My moms a lesbian so I grew up in the community going to pride every year. I can honestly say they didn’t sexualize me. But, I can also say I have 100% been sexualized by Christian figures
They now want us to say: person with a uterus!! I am a women!!! How can that new term be described as anything other than s€×ist?!! It literally means a person who can give birth!! They are saying that is our only defining feature!!! How is that not s€×ist?!! And guess why they want us to say that. So that we can be more inclusive to MEN who identify as women!!! Yeah, nah!!! I am never saying that!!! I am a woman!!! And if you have any pride as a woman, then quit defending these men!!
The rustle of your outfit reminds me of my mum before dementia took her over. She always dressed up she was an incredible dressmaker so her outfits were made of all the fancy stuff sequins, silk, tulle etc and she loved it and I loved it 😍 even though she can’t sew now and wears sweats, when I bring in a creation of hers she gets so excited and loves feeling the textures and running her hands over the detail etc ❤
I've been so anticipating this video. The amount of trauma women like this inflict in the church is wild. I'm still recovering and glad people are speaking out against. You were so much more gracious than I would be. Thank you for speaking out.
they inflict trauma because they HAVE been traumatized. they perpetuate the abuse they receive. I was one of these people. I am also recovering. toxic religious perfection and hypocrisy is so tiring.
I'm about 10 years out of the church and you know, I don't think I'm ever going to unpack the trauma from being raised in a fundamentalist christian church.
And it’s the fact that those women are married to closeted gay men who think it’s wrong to be who they are. Imagine if their brains weren’t so warped where they’d be, I bet SO much happier
Trixie could have (and should have) been as mean spirited as these two women but instead she talked about how nice they looked and how much their video quality has improved over the years. There’s only one classy woman here and it’s not Ashley or Ashley
@@daemionluccas490 the two sides of the spectrum we needed 😌 Nick dragged tf outta them & even made a mini remix song of the "it's not gonna lick itself" part 😆😆😆 Love both Trixie & Nick. Amazing creators 😌❤🙏🏻
I’m soooo glad you did this! I was raised catholic. Seeing the disturbing things that priests GOT AWAY with was so awful to me, it’s one of the reasons I don’t go to church any longer. Replacing the priests to different locations isn’t a justified punishment. But furthermore this ‘girl defined show’ is ridiculous. They are so uninformed it’s pathetic. It’s kind of sad more than anything.
I was emotionally abused on a daily basis by my evangelical peers going to school in conservative Alabama. I'm not gay or gender non-conforming, I'm just another version of "different". 'Godly' people said horrible things me, harassed me, sometimes sexually, pelted me with french fries in the cafeteria. What was I doing? Nothing. Sitting there eating my lunch.
I have never felt more comfortable then being surrounded by a group of queer kids. I jave never been less comfortable sitting in my churches youth group with girls my age.
“With oversized breasts”.... Ummm... do they not realise women can naturally have MASSIVE chests 😂 like J cups that end up needing to go on those TV shows so they can get a reduction
Honestly this stuff is so not new. Like girl defined portrays themselves as "brave" for speaking out about it but basically every Christian does so at a certain point it stops being that upsetting and just becomes funny lol
Oh my gosh every time I start to get heated I start remembering how dumb they sound and just laugh and go please let others see their blatant stupidity And why do these bitches hate themselves so much??? I love trixie ❤
I genuinely think they don’t know the difference between drag and trans, etc. Its all lumped together in one big “scary” thing that’s super homophobic.
Drag is actually saving lives, the amount of joy and laughter I've been able to experience through this art have helped me go through my depression. Love you so much Trixie.
Ngl, there have been times where I genuinely felt like ending it, but then I'd turn on "UNHhhh" with Trixie and Katya and all of those negative emotions are filled with nothing but joy and laughter. It's genuinely insane how these people think.
them saying drag queens shouldn't be near children/shouldn't be allowed at drag shows is really ironic since children are far less safe being in a church than being at a drag show 💀
I feel so awkward when people use chest size to refer to being explicit. I'm roughly a 42I and hit puberty early, I feel like for my whole pubescent period I've been trying to escape judgement from others.
I was going to comment something similar!! I’m a G / H size and I’m always struggling to find clothes that I’m comfortable in. I’ve seen online and in person, people with body types I’ve seen on Drag Race. It’s not “oversized” or “provocative” it’s a body shape.
Baby girl, express that God’s design and don’t mind these judgmental weirdo. It’s the same with women with naturally big butt “I didn’t ask for it, Karen. Sorry it offends you”
I heavily relate, especially being a non-binary trans. when you think more about it, you realize that the judgment mostly comes from a place of sexualization and it just makes me feel even more horrible. But as long as we're here for each other and keep our respect to one another, then no one can really take that away from us!
Honestly, as a girl with I cups and only 130-140 lbs I hate the oversized notion. I'm constantly sexualized and struggle to find any clothes that can fit properly. I know these women would judge me if they met me and that just makes all of this seem so fake, like jealousy and judgement directed at who they see as women but who don't fall into their standards of modesty and acceptable proportions. This is the reason I'm getting a reduction, because it's not worth dealing with people like them
It’s also the girls with the personality of cardboard that hate on other women. My friend is absolutely stacked and people accuse her of having all sorts of work done. It’s worse because she’s also so shy.
I'm so sorry. I hope you are happy with your reduction but I really wish you didnt have to get one because of these people. These people are not worth being around and their opinion is invalid and misguided. You deserve better.
@@crackkillspuppies no one is insisting it and they do have drag queens that have kid friendly material aside from the more mature ones. It's no different than someone dressing up for party entertainment.
@@crackkillspuppies what you consider family friendly and what they/the people who attend those events consider it is subjective. My point is no is being forced to go or be involved. For my 13th bday I practically begged my mom to take me to a drag show and she did, I never had so much fun and felt so comfortable in such loving environment. I cant say the same about the church I used to go to though
these girls must be SO miserable walking around letting every little thing deeply upset them like just. let people exist and you’ll be happier ashley and ashley
Have you SEEN their husbands? Those poor mfers are trapped in the closet (one is ex conversion therapy) so best BELIEVE they are projecting from their sad little Christian lives.
I personally think it is such a compliment and honor that drag queens feel strong and empowered to dress and perform as woman. In a world where many men insult men by saying things like "you throw like a girl" or "your acting like a little girl" or "you sissy". Many men often refer to other men as being womanly as a way to insult them. So for those men out there... imagine how it is to be a woman and hear that you think it's a bad thing to be like a woman.... it really does make women feel like most men think we are inferior to them. The fact that drag queens often say that when they get dressed up as a woman and get to be a confident woman strutting the stage and performing their asses off like queens and it makes them feel empowered?... that is such a damn amazing compliment and I am so honored.
idk if anyone else feels this way but as a cis woman watching drag has really helped me with body image and self esteem because drag queens embrace the female body in any shape without obsessing over size
Yes, this 100%. Trixie particularly has a way of seeing physical beauty in everyone, and this really was a reset for me. Drag/Trixie have taught me how to look at myself and SEE the beauty.
I have always been uncomfortable with my body no matter my age or size. dragcon 2018 Morgan McMichaels told me i had the most beautiful figure and signed my photo complimenting me on my "hour glass figure"😂My figure was very average, But her appreciation was 100% very real, i will never forget that. I pull the memory of that moment and complement anytime i need a confidence boost.
My mom (rest her soul) took me to my fist drag show at 12 I only remember her coworker who did Cher Was awesome She really wasn't a fan of drag but was there for him because she loved her friend
Drag literally got me through the pandemic, post partum depression, regular depression and every bad thing that’s ever happened. Drag queens saved my life
it's true that doing drag does not mean you "want to be a woman", but it's also worth mentioning how transphobic their language is in this regard as well. there are trans drag queens and they're not any more dangerous to children than cis ones. trans drag queens deserve all the respect.
I made a drag reference in front of my mom and I said “you probably wouldn’t get that.. it’s a drag reference” and the look on her face 🤭 it looked like she was trying to process the fact that I watch/like drag, trying to be supportive, holding back judgmental words/looks, and confusion all at the same time
@@romycartiere7088 very clear from the number of transphobes who think that all of us trans women wear pounds of makeup daily and that we’re all in wigs. I’m sure some trans women do do that (which is perfectly normal to do? Idk why people act like that’s so bad), but also some of us wear little or don’t wear any makeup (I’m clueless about makeup so I dont wear any). Idk it’s crazy they act like all of us trans people constantly look like we’re heading to the club, when in reality we dress any way cis people do. I’m certian these people have seen a trans person before in like the grocery store or something and not known.
As a Mom, I'll take my daughter to places where I feel she is safe and welcome. That includes children friendly drag events. And DOESN'T include places like...I don't know...church.
@@OutOfMarbles127 my fundamental job as a Mom is to teach my daughter to be loving, accepting and kind to everyone. She’s still young and who she is to become is still unknown (gay, straight, bi, cis, trans) and in order for her to be loving, accepting and kind to herself as she navigates life & figures out who she is I have to show her that I, Mom, encourage and practice love and kindness to everyone. Sheltering our children from harmless things like drag does nothing but close them off to the world as a whole. ❤️
As someone who grew up watching my uncles do drag I can say my very conservative Christian parents absolutely fucked up my mental state and my gay, drag dressing, singing dancing uncles were the only people that kept me from being absolutely broken lol
Your uncles sound absolutely fabulous. Sorry that your parents suck. I have a friend who was born into an extremely religious, conservative household, and I keep hoping that she'll tell her parents to f off, but she's still seeking their approval : (
“do you think kids went to therapy because of a drag show” THIS HITS SO HARD HELP i have horrible religious trauma to the point where i have panic attacks the night before sunday because i know i’m going to wake up on sunday and be forced to go into a church where i’m NOT loved, NOT accepted and NOT wanted there just because i’m queer and non binary. i hear over and over again about how i’m wrong and i shouldn’t be the way i am / exist. love getting to rant about it on mondays to my therapist.. a genuine drag queen could not do a quarter of the damage religion has done to me
I hope you can get away from that church and to a place of acceptance amongst your peers. I'm glad you have a therapist to talk to. Just know that not everywhere is like that, and you will find a community one day. I actually attend a unitarian church that holds a special session for religious wounds, like an aa meeting but for people who were raised with religion imposed upon them, and I think it's a super cool class. Maybe you could look in to something like that?
hi sorry if this sounds rude but I just don't get the non binary thing, like could u just explain how u feel, and why u chose to be non binary? like does it help to be for example have she/her pronouns then they/them pronouns? im just trying to educate myself:)
As a woman with a natural J cup chest size, I’m so offended that they’re calling breast plates “oversized”, like hello women do actually have big chests like that too. What a stupid delusional video they made.
No same! I recently just had a breast reduction from a G cup to a C cup (100% best decision I ever made and I’m so thankful that we could pay for it) and like…they were naturally big. I had to go through so much mental torment because of them. Like? Idk. Bad taste in my mouth.
I'm certain they're conservative, but to be fair, I don't know if _they_ like child pageants. Seems like something they'd condemn for teaching vanity or something, and they wouldn't touch the gross costuming those kids are put in.
I WAS A CHILD AT A DRAG QUEEN SHOW!!!! 😂😂 My uncle, who has passed away, was a drag queen. My little sister and I were visiting my uncle with our aunt and cousin, he took us all to Disney land. He had a gig that night at a bar and grill, emphasis on the grill part, because children can go to bar and grills apparently. So there we were probably 8 and 9 at the time tipping drag queens in a place full of drunk people. We even got to go back where all the other queens were. Amazing night I will never forget. I turned out just fine 😂😂 RIP Desiree La Femme 💜💙
I love that Trixie admits that she thinks they're beautiful So fierce and shows how confident you are in your own skin, girl!!! U don't have to lie and drag others down
As a cis woman, I’d absolutely LOVE to do drag. The glamour, the wigs, the makeup, the shoes- none of it is anything I can wear during my normal day, and the idea of being able to participate is something I’d adore. It’s not a mockery, it’s a celebration 🥳
same! cis woman, but everything looks so much fun! for me it would be more about accentuating what i already have and celebrating femininity in a glamorous way
It's obvious that drag is just a place holder for what they really wanna say: all queer people. But they know if they just say "gay people are predators" and "gay people are against gods design" more of their audience will correctly perceive it as hate, so they use this as a cover. Their enemy is not drag, what they truly want to destroy is gay rights, Trans rights and liberation.
No. As a Christian, I can say that that is a leap and a stereotype of Christianity. The vast, vast majority of lay (well, and not-lay, these days) Christians, do not think like that. That’s an overgeneralization that’s taught in order to engender hate. Just as, on the other side, we sometimes hear, “all queer/gay/trans people are, or want to groom your kids!” Hysteria and over-blowing the fringe on both sides, is no help.
I have always been a more masculine looking woman. I was shamed so much over the years by men and women for not being traditionally pretty. I hated myself. Then one day, out of the blue, Divine's "I'm so beautiful" came on. Something clicked at that time and I learned to start loving myself. Even though Divine has passed, I partially credit her with saving my life.
the strict, hateful enforcement of gender stereotypes onto others harms cisgender people too. i think more people need to realize that because they don't even know they're being hurt by it.
In the U.K., drag is a traditional part of theatre for children, especially at Christmas! The panto dame has existed since 1806 as a beloved drag character who is counted on to bring life to every performance. Panto theatre walks the line, being child-appropriate whilst still having a few Easter eggs (hidden adult jokes) for the parents. There’s also a British military tradition of men dressing up as women to do comedy and theatre to make each other laugh. It was listed in officer’s manuals as a way to build morale and esprit de corps back in WW1 and WW2. Despite the popularity of RPDR and the stars like Trixie who have gone on to be massively successful, I can’t imagine most Americans not being a little unnerved if dressing up as women were suggested as a new military tradition. Our empire and society in general may be in smoking ruins, but it isn’t the dame’s fault. Long may she reign!
I mean my last number was literally me dressed in all white and glitter performing let it go lmao, I don't see how people think that's grooming when singers and Disney performers do just that all the time
💯

How I felt when I went to a trixie concert. I felt so safe and so seen. It was beautiful.
And that's on religion sis
They were probably abused (or their mother's projected their body issues on them) and they do hate their bodies. Or, and this is even more ridiculous and seriously damaging, since they belong to a wacko church, they probably had to do one of those ceremonies where they had to pledge their virginity to their fathers.

The percentage of girls who grew up in church being sexually assaulted by church staff or volunteers is heartbreaking. I really do believe drag would be safer for kids than church.
And the amount of boys who have been molested by said people.
i really think it's a matter of which country you live in, in the Philippines it's not as big as an issue as mostly everyone is catholic and christians, I do love the churches I ever went to (not all because the speakers are bass boosted)
i think the safety of a church depends a lot on what neighborhood you live in.

It’s kind of sad more than anything.

Sorry it offends you”
Yes! I had a full rack at 13, and had to change my entire wardrobe bc it was suddenly “too inappropriate” like… it’s just how my body it shaped.
Literally the entire time they shamed bigger breasts as if a lot of people don’t also naturally have them
I heavily relate, especially being a non-binary trans. when you think more about it, you realize that the judgment mostly comes from a place of sexualization and it just makes me feel even more horrible.

I was thinking exactly the same thing...

Yes yes yes! Drag Queens made me feel like I could be myself.
Same. Drag shows have gave me so much power to be who I am and I am a christian "woman". The hate comes from their lack of understanding period.
the strict, hateful enforcement of gender stereotypes onto others harms cisgender people too. i think more people need to realize that because they don't even know they're being hurt by it.
Okay but genuinely and unironically, Trixie looks GORGEOUS today! The wig and the exposed shoulders are really doing God's work!!
