My friends thought I was strange because I would rush home after school to watch Bob Ross, I even took art classes because of him. I never really got the hang of painting but I did get pretty good at drawing realistic portraits and animals and due to my love of comics I could draw superheros, monsters, mythical creatures, skulls and whatnot, I even designed tattoos for a few people. Nowadays I draw things to relax and sometimes imagine Bob narrating my art in progress in my head.
My aunt can paint landscapes like Bob, she's currently working on one of the Grand Canyon.

My wife and I recently rediscovered the joy of Bob Ross, and watch his shows from time to time as a way of lifting our spirits and reminding us of how much good there is in the world. Thank you for creating this wonderful tribute to his life and his legacy.

I remember as a kid The Joy of Painting coming on at the same time as TMNT cartoon. I wore out that channel back button to dust.
    My favorite memories of TV.
Bob Ross is more bad ass than my favorite cartoon, comic, toy, movie,...

Thank you for this! He was a wonderful guy and so very talented. I remember catching his show on TV and yelling to the family, "Peaceful is on!" As my late mother also painted, it was always fun to watch and this brought back beautiful memories of sharing Bob Ross' show together. Thanks again Minty!

The man was simply a legend...a real shame he never made a dime off of his talented work. Imagine how much his donated paintings are worth now and he just gave them away to various PBS stations.

One of my favorite videos that you've done. I grew up watching Bob Ross when I was a kid in the 80s. I was sad to hear in 1995 that he'd passed away. I'd always loved art and wanted to take up oil painting, but growing up, my parents had other plans for me and my future (they were a bit over protective and controlling of me). Around 2008, I saw that reruns of the show (renamed "Best of the Joy of Painting") were being aired on my local PBS station and started watching. It was like getting reunited with an old friend. In 2010, I went through a bit of a mid-life crisis, but rather than do anything reckless, I looked into what I needed, and by the spring of 2011, I started painting myself. While I haven't sold any of my work yet, it is relaxing to either paint, sketch out an idea for a new painting, or just sit back and relax while watching Bob Ross paint (I also have all of his shows and instructional videos on DVD as well as all of his books). In 2019, I got the board game "Bob Ross: The Art of Chill" (th-cam.com/video/pTebfqb9vTc/w-d-xo.html), and this past summer, I got the Bob Ross edition of Monopoly.

The only real scandal around Bob Ross is that all of his paintings are kept in an office randomly piled and stacked all over the place, and nobody is allowed to look at them and nobody can buy them.
